5 Accommodation We are staying at the Hotel Cabin, Reykjavik. They are ensuite rooms. Two per room. Students will have a meeting in the next week or so where I will ask you to write down who you are sharing a room with.
6 Day 1 -Arrival at collect bags etc. -Stop at the Mid Atlantic ridge which is a constructive plate boundary. You will step from the Eurasian Plate to the North American Plate - Dinner at the hotel - Walk along the harbour (weather permitted)
7 Day 2 Depart at 9.00 South Shore excursion which will include: -Skogafoss waterfall- can walk all the way up to an amazing view! -Reynishverfi beach and Dyrholaey - black beach and coastal landforms. -Solheimajokull glacier tongue -Seljalandsfoss waterfall -Waterfall over a basalt cliff Arrive back at the hotel Dinner Swim in the outdoor pool (little extra)
8 Day 3 Depart at 9.00 Golden Circle Tour which will include: Hellisheidi power plant Pingvellir National Park Gulfoss waterfall (Iceland's most famous waterfall) Great Geysir hot springs with intermittently boils and sends a tall column of water and steam into the air. Kerid volcanic crater- a volcanic crater lake which you will walk around. This is subject to a small extra charge. ( 2.00) The 2008 earthquake exhibition Arrive back to the hotel Evening meal

10 Activities Henley Twitter will be updated with photos and stories on the day. School website will also be updated with stories and photos. Some small activities will take place on journeys and at sides to enhance students learnings. This will ensure they understand the environments they visit. 13 Flight details Checked- in bags - weight limit of 20kg. Its total size has to be under 275cm Overweight bags are charged per km over the standard 20 kg limit. Luggage allowance may not be spread across fewer bags. Hand luggage only one bag permitted as hand luggage. 56x45x25cm including handles and wheels. and no more than 10kg. Wear your ski jacket and boots as it a lot less weight in the bag and you will need it when you leave the airport.
14 Temperatures Average temperature is 3C in November with night temperature falling to around 0C Recommendations: Ski Jacket and trousers Waterproof/wind proof trousers Thermals Hat, scarf and gloves Thin layers Walking boots/shoes Thick walking socks Suntan lotion and lip seal A rucksack A torch Towel Swimsuit/swim shorts You hopefully have a print out of this. When wrapped up appropriately you wont feel the cold but remember you are out all day every day so wear layers. You can take them off and put them into your bag.
15 Behaviour Expectations You are representing Henley In Arden whilst in Iceland and therefore will be expected to adhere to our rules. No alcohol, smoking and/or drugs will be permitted. Whilst there you need to follow the laws of the country which means no alcohol under the age of 21. When out and about you will be divided up into subgroups which will enable head counts and ensure we are all safe. You will be assigned a teacher who you must report to each time we do these.
16 Medications If you are needing medication please hand it to a Miss Larkin before you get onto the coach. It will need to be in a plastic bag, clearly named and clearly labelled when it is to be taken. If medication/needles or epipens are needed to be carried on board the flight, the passenger will require a letter from their Doctors dated within 1 month prior to travel to confirm what the medication is and what it is for, this will then need to be shown to the airline upon checking in and through security. We will keep a log of what medication will be taken to ensure that the right amount is allocated.
17 Emergency Contacts If in case of an emergency we will contact the school who will then make the appropriate phone calls. There will be a phone tree that will let you know we have landed etc. All students will have a card on them with our school mobile number on it. You are able to take your mobile phones which you can have during the day however you will be expected to hand these in each evening. This is to ensure safety of you and others in the hotel.
18 Emergency Contacts Please carry this card on you at all times. It will be in your lanyard which you will wear every day. The mobiles we will be contactable on (for emergencies only) are
19 Phone Tree There is a sheet in your pack that asks for the phone number you would like to be contacted on when we arrive. Ideally it would be great if you could return that tonight. You will then receive the tree which you will be part of.

21 Flight restrictions Flammable items, lighters, oil, paint, paint thinner and flares/torches Volatile materials, such as lighter gas and other types of gas Bleach and other irritants Poisons, such as arsenic, weed killer and insecticide Corrosives, such as battery acid, etc. Radioactive materials Firearms Explosives, fireworks, detonators, etc Compressed gas cylinders, camping stoves, and other equipment containing pressurised gas Materials and equipment with strong magnetic fields Containers (bottles, tubes, etc.) of liquids, creams, pastes, etc. must not contain more than 100 ml each and must be placed in a re-sealable one litre clear plastic bag (20cmx20cm). Do not over-fill the bag and do not take more than one per person. Please note that items such as shaving cream, nail polish, hairspray and toothpaste are all classified as liquids.
22 Flight restrictions There are no organised entertainment on board as it is a short haul flight and therefore please bring a book or something similar to keep you entertained. School work is permitted. You can use laptops, tablets etc. however you will be responsible for these if anything was to happen.
23 Insurances There is a blue booklet which covers all the main details regarding insurance for the duration of the trip. Visit the NST website to read the full insurance policy. European Heath Insurance card: This is needed. If you haven t got one then it takes 7 days to order a new one.
24 Health card Can get a form from a link on the NHS website (or google it)
25 AOB Spending money should be no more than 100 as this works out 25 a day. Students are responsible for their own money. Icelandic Krona may need to be ordered a week earlier. Breakfast and Dinner is included. Lunch isn t as there are places to purchase food. I will be collecting the passports and looking after them for the duration of the trip.
