3 nd 9 eries Introduction mphenol and 9 series are two series of thread & ayonetcoupled connectors designed to meet the operating requirements of I0. vailable in a variety of styles and classes, these connectors are primarily used in a range of military and industrial applications where specific degrees of environmental protection are required. lthough series have identical insert arrangements and other similar component parts, the two series differ in that mphenol series of connectors are also qualified to meet the operating requirements of efence tandard oint ervices pecification 0, issued by the lectronics omponents tandardization Organisation (O). mphenol 9 connectors feature a quick mating bayonet coupling with an audible full mating feature. 6 nd 9 eries eneral escription These electrical connectors are designated because the interchangeability and operating characteristics are determined by U.. ilitary pecifications. These specifications are revised from time to time to incorporate performance requirements dictated by design advances and more stringent requirements of allied equipment. The several designations of and 9 connectors meet different requirements of I 0. These designations and general descriptions are as follows : hell hell constructions include solid back shell () and environmental resistant (, & ). nvironmental resistant connectors provide a moisture barrier and assure a positive seal. hell styles consist of wall type receptacles (00), cable receptacles (0), box receptacles (0), straight plugs (06) and angle plugs (0). hell hardware is manufactured from aluminium alloy and cadmium plated with olive drab chromate finish. 8 nd 9 eries Insert Orientations To avoid crossplugging problems in applications requiring the use of more than one connector of the same size and arrangement, alternate insert rotations are available as indicated in the accompanying chart. s shown in the daigram below, the front face of the pin insert is rotated within the shell in a clockwise direction from the normal shell key. The socket insert would be rotated counterclockwise the same number of degrees with respect to the normal shell key.
