Introdution The Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy is reognized as having a omprehensive Polie Aademy program. The program is an intensive twenty-four week training urriulum approved by the Maryland Polie Training Commission. College of Southern Maryland CSM) offers an assoiate's degree in General Studies with a Criminal Justie Pathway. During the Spring of 1998 and again in the Fall of 1999, the ommunity ollege undertook a omprehensive review of the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy Polie Entrane Level Tmining Program to determine if learning outomes at the ollege and the aademy were omparable. Based upon that review the following artiulation agreement is proposed. II. Terms of the Artiulation Agreement A. This agreement will be in effet for two years from the date signed unless aneled by either party in writing. After two years the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy Polie Entrane Level Training Program ourses will be reviewed again, and, if appropriate, a new agreement will be negotiated. Any modifiation to this agreement prior to renewal may be implemented if agreed to by both parties in writing. B. The following riteria must be met in order to reeive the redits: I. Students shall omplete appliable portions of their respetive program at the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy Polie Entrane Level Training Program with a grade of"b" 80%) or better in eah ourse to be artiulated. 2. Indiation of suessful ompletion of the appliable artiulated ourses shall be forwarded to in the fonn of a Letter of Artiulation Certifiation from the appropriate division at the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy Polie Entrane Level Training Program signed by the Diretor of the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy. 3. The Letter of Artiulation Certifiation douments that the student has satisfied the requirements of the appliable approved program at the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy Polie Entrane Level Training Program and has reeived instrution in the areas whih are inluded in the artiulated ourses.

6 .. IV. Implementation Proedure A. Implementation proedure at I. To reeive redit through this artiulation agreement at the ommunity ollege, the following proedures will be in effet: a Students must apply to the ollege, pay appliation fee, and omplete a "Request For the Evaluation Of Transfer Credits Form". They must also have a opy of the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy Polie Entrane Level Training Program Certifiate sent diretly to the Admissions Offie. The redits will be posted on the student's transript with the notation "redits earned through artiulation agreement with Southern Maryland Polie Aademy." 2. Students will be enouraged to meet with an aademi advisor to plan their future ousework and omplete program planning sheets. B. Implementation Proedure at the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy Polie Entrane Level Training Program: I. To implement the artiulation agreement at the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy, the following proedure is proposed: a. The Southern Maryland Polie Aademy will ommuniate the details of agreements to the teahing staff, polie personnel, and polie aademy students. b. The Aademy will develop a proedure for ertifying students for redit in the ourse or ourses for whih he or she is eligible for artiulated redit. The original of the Letter of Artiulation Certifiation will be mailed to the CSM Admissions Offie, and a opy given to the student. See sample Letter of Artiulation Certifiation.) 2. The aademy will develop methods of publiizing the agreement in order to enourage students to take advantage of the opportunity to ontinue their eduation at upon graduation from the Polie Aademy.

The Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy will advise students of the appliability of the fifteen 15) redits reeived from College of Southern Maryland as follows: A maximum of fifteen 15) redits will apply toward an assoiate of arts degree in General Studies: Criminal Justie Pathway at V. Artiulation Agreement Maintenane and Review A. The Artiulation Agreement shall be reviewed at least every two years by representatives of the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy Polie Entrane Level Training Program and the CSM Criminal Justie faulty. B. Any revisions of appliable ourse syllabi, ourse hours, or ourse desriptions at the Southern Maryland Criminal Justie Aademy Polie Entrane Level Training Program or CSM shall be sent to the appliable instrutors immediately.
