Power-by-the-hour or total care type contracts have also become increasingly significant, making the availability of the aircraft, engines and aircraft components the primary driver for operational success. But this must be achieved within a robust financial structure, under increasing regulatory control and with the impact of globalization. The IFS Applications solution focuses on reducing and managing aviation support costs, whilst also increasing asset availability and delivering comprehensive, intelligent and predictive support. 4 4 CIVIL AVIATION MAINTENANCE & SUPPORT CIVIL AVIATION SUPPORT IS CHANGING OUT THERE Things are changing rapidly in the civil aviation support industry regardless of whether you specialize in heavy or line maintenance of aircraft or engines, component repair, you are an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and delivering aftermarket services or a third party engine overhaul shop. There is a rapidly increasing focus to consistently deliver on time, to conform to regulatory controls and to continuously improve turnaround times in the most cost-effective manner whilst maintaining a high quality of service providing your customers with the best value possible and maximizing your profits. The commercial and operating landscape is also changing, with an increased use of contracted-out services, pressure for standardization, demand for agility to be able to handle change, and the traceability and support for the entire asset lifecycle - all these are key requirements of a civil aviation service supplier today. The civil aviation support industry is always transforming and adjusting and operators are increasingly evaluating their suppliers information technology infrastructure because of the difference it can make when it comes to standardized processes, documentation delivery, accountability, operational availability, and ability to adapt to their downstream changes. ASSET MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL An accurate and complete asset record is essential for all aspects of maintenance, repair and overhaul. The asset management and control features enable customers to maintain asset records for aircraft, engines, major assemblies and components. Each asset record stores maintenance activities, configuration details, location and status histories. A full history of equipment usage is maintained based on installed locations and modification applicability and embodiment is recorded. achieve improved turnaround times and superior customer service. It also enables customers to create operator specific approved maintenance programs while ensuring compliance with airworthiness requirements. Full support for condition-based maintenance, fault data management and deferral rules supports development of an optimal maintenance program for each asset type. MAINTENANCE PLANNING Enables customers to plan maintenance activities around their operational schedule and requirements. Dynamic scheduling options provide Gantt visibility of planned maintenance activities, including pending and overdue tasks, allowing for resource assignment and material allocation well in advance of maintenance activities thereby eliminating bottlenecks and delays using interactive graphical scheduling. Modifications, including post maintenance checks can be managed alongside other planned maintenance activities. OPERATE ASSET Enables operators to record and monitor the use of an asset by capturing information during the normal operation of a single asset or a fleet. MAINTENANCE PROGRAMMING Enables customers to manage maintenance programs for different types of assets in line with the airworthiness and operational requirements. Flexible definition of maintenance intervals (calendar or usage based) and tolerances with recording of maintenance instructions to include material usage, tools and facility requirements and required sign off levels. The capabilities support all aspects of maintenance programming and help companies

Any defects and faults occurring during the normal operation will be associated with the event. During normal operation, the system assists customers in the management of any defects or faults that are able to be deferred in accordance with normal operational procedures defined in the Maintenance Program (commonly called deferrals). The IFS Flight Log capability allows recording of Operational Plans, analysis of Faults and Deferrals and management of all future requirements. LINE MAINTENANCE EXECUTION Enables customers to manage programmed work, optimize resource and material availability against planned tasks and capture costs of maintenance execution. Integrated material demands ensure the right parts at the right place and time and requisitions to be made for parts and/or services through the procurement system are linked to each work order. A mobile work order app for android and Windows 8 allows maintainers access to all required information and documentation and enables realtime feedback of work order activity to planners while reducing the need for training and paperwork. BASE MAINTENANCE EXECUTION Powerful and flexible work order management with execution logic enables customers to optimize each maintenance service visit and improve turnaround times, while maintaining a high standard of customer service. Integrated material demands ensure the right parts at the right place and time and requisitions to be made for parts and/or services through the procurement system are linked to each work order. A mobile work order app for Android and Windows 8 devices allows maintainers access to all required information and documentation and enables real-time feedback of work order activity to planners while reducing the need for training and paperwork. MATERIAL MANAGEMENT Enables customers to manage sub-assemblies and components both on and off the asset during purchasing, inventory and warehousing activities, including full traceability of all assets and identifiable components through the life-cycle. Integrated procurement includes requisitions, approvals and RFQ management. Customer Orders allow management of the sale of spare parts and services and efficient invoicing of all MRO activities. Inventory optimization tools allow differentiated, highly automated inventory planning integrated with the demand forecast. It also makes inventory replenishment more agile by providing a multitude of planning strategies such as economic order quantity, service-level driven safety stocks and special models to handle slow-moving parts. A comprehensive warehousing capability manages the entire warehousing process from goods receipt to point of issue and includes support for traceability, shelf life management, consignment stocks and statistics. EMPLOYEE RECORDS Enables customers to optimize the scheduling of their workforce to ensure the employees with the right skills are assigned to the right jobs and maintain personnel records and data. Employee records hold all employee details including current competencies, education, licenses and all training records. Providing controlled access to employee data, it simplifies the maintenance of employee information while serving as the foundation for the comprehensive operation of all employee-related processes. Integrated Incident reporting supports Health and Safety Management in support of MRO airworthiness requirements. DOCUMENTATION IFS Applications provides full control over the operation s documentation including technical

It handles the creation and development process for documents and includes easy-to-use search tools. Functionality includes workflow, templates, version and release management, support for invoice scanning (OCR) and redlining. Electronic technical manuals can be linked to maintenance program information to provide up to date configuration controlled and accurate maintenance data for the maintainer. QUALITY AND COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT Enables organizations to manage the quality of components and to forecast and optimize future requirements and operations. The system allows the definition of control plans, test and inspection instructions, standards for parts, suppliers, or manufacturing processes or any combination of these. Samples are linked to shop orders, purchase orders, serial numbers, lot numbers, and time stamp processes. It provides support for the most common Statistical Process Control (SPC) charts for variables and attributes, and capability indices can be calculated for any process. IFS Applications includes a broad variety of solutions for efficient reporting and enhanced control in managing compliance and non-financial reporting. The solutions are fully integrated with IFS Applications to promote user productivity and reduce time spent on non-value-adding administration and thereby cut costs. MAINTENANCE & SUPPORT PERFORMANCE Provides information for business leaders and managers to improve efficiencies and make optimal use of the resources and facilities available through extensive reporting, analytics, and business intelligence and a capability to view the effectiveness of the operational business processes. CLOUD & MOBILITY For most airline MRO organizations core business does not revolve around the maintenance and support of enterprise software. Core business is to, instead, operate, maintain or support aviation assets and to profitably serve customers. Supporting ERP, MRO and EAM software is not likely to be a core discipline. That is why IFS take a flexible approach to cloud computing, leveraging its range of specific capabilities according to the business needs of our civil aviation customers so as to maximize their benefits. This applies to both the deployment model for IFS Applications, as in the examples with IFS Touch Apps and IFS Cloud, to leveraging software plus services (S+S). Our cloud solution allows you to offload a number of critical functions and infrastructure concerns including servers, operating systems, databases, application maintenance, and fault correction to the professionally managed IFS Private Cloud. But, this offering is only one element in IFS s strategy for cloud computing overall we design our package with the most desirable elements of cloud computing into an attractive and compelling service offering. In addition, whether on premise or hosted in a cloud, mobile devices such as tablets and smart phones offer an additional capability to maximize the efficiency of the IFS modular maintenance and support solution. For most operational activities, maintenance engineers should be mobile, MRO shop based or on the line being sufficiently agile react to changing situations. However, our unique strategy is that mobile applications should not clutter the user with superfluous information or process overhead: Only give users the functionality in the app which they need for the specific task they need to complete, put it in a familiar form to increases efficiency and effectiveness; design them for the characteristics of their specific working environment e.g. the aircraft MRO shop. I NEED TO OPTIMIZE PLANNING AND FORECASTING We recognize that as important as visibility into your day-to-day aviation maintenance operations is, the ability to exercise control over the long-term maintenance horizon is key. IFS Applications lets you forward plan the short, medium or longer plan horizons, allowing achievement of improved turnaround times, eliminating non-productive wait periods and reducing on-hand inventory cost by synchronizing material demands with planned maintenance activities. I NEED TO MEET SAFETY REQUIREMENTS We recognize that aviation support is a complex and potentially dangerous enterprise that needs to be managed within a robust safety framework. IFS Applications keeps track of the validity of employees licenses, certifications and skill sets, and assigns the correctly qualified personnel to specific tasks on any given asset. There is a specific Health & Safety module, and the solution gives full auditable traceability, of all tasks performed, with audit trails, that can be made available to regulatory authorities and customers as and when required. All users work with the same information so that when airworthiness requirements are released, all personnel have complete visibility of impact at aircraft, in the hangar or in a workshop. Forecast task visibility supports maintenance improvement regimes such as opportunistic maintenance and Out of Phase Maintenance activities by combining these with other tasks in the plan to optimize the schedule and avoid re-work. In addition, IFS Applications also offers support for Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) to satisfy maintenance programs according to various standards including MSG-3. Be it export control management or conformance to international maintenance standards a solution is required to support engineers in the planning office, or engineers at the aircraft whether in service or under maintenance. I NEED TO KNOW WHICH ASSETS TO MANAGE Knowing when components or sub-assemblies require, or are likely to require, maintenance checks can provide a distinct advantage. This enables you to plan current maintenance with forward operational tasking, e.g. once returned to service, the asset has the maximum number of operational hours required by the operator. IFS Fleet and Asset Management provides management of maintenance and modification programs, configuration control and operational activities as well as line maintenance and scope definition for heavy maintenance.
