The University of Teesside and the Tees Valley further education colleges Darlington College, Hartlepool College of Further Education, Middlesbrough College, Redcar & Cleveland College, and Stockton Riverside College constitute the Higher Education Business Partnership. We have been working in collaboration for more than 15 years and over the last five years we have jointly developed a substantial portfolio of higher education qualifications and awards. CIMA Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting NQF Level year part time This is the final stage of the study programme to qualify as a chartered management accountant. It is based upon a case study and set within a simulated business context. By passing this exam you will prove that you have the ability to transfer your strategic and practical knowledge to a real-life business situation. It will provide an integrated test of syllabus content that is mainly included within the three strategic level papers: Financial Strategy, Business Strategy and Risk and Control Strategy. The emphasis will be on assessing your capability and competence in the practical use of appropriate, relevant knowledge, the ability to demonstrate the application of higher-level skills of synthesis, analysis and evaluation, and skills in effectively presenting and communicating information to users. 11 11 FdA Accountancy 3 years part time This course aims to develop relevant and practical skills in accounting for business, enabling you to make a real difference in your organisation. It has been developed in partnership with leading accountancy employers in both the public and private sectors. The course is designed to combine theoretical business accounting techniques and application, demonstrated through assignments, case studies, presentations, examinations and work-based projects. Final year of the BA (Hons) Accounting and Finance. FdA Law 2 years part time This degree is for those of you who want to work or gain a promotion in the legal sector to become either legal executives, solicitors or barristers. It consists of a variety of academic subjects and legal skills such as advising clients, negotiating agreements, legal research and cross examination. You will also acquire knowledge of legal procedures including the drafting of legal documentation and the conduct of a trial and you will be able to practise advocacy skills in a replica court at the University. On completion of this course you will be able to work in a wide variety of roles in the legal sector as well as using legal skills in business or the public sector. ILEX Higher Professional Diploma in Law NQF Level 6 1 year part time University of Teesside The Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) is a professional body whose members are qualified lawyers specialising in a particular area of law. It is recognised as the third branch of the legal profession alongside solicitors and barristers. This Diploma aims to give you the skills required for a career in the legal practice profession. If you complete the course you can become a Fellow of the May Institute and may also go on to qualify as a solicitor using the ILEX qualification to obtain exemptions from the Legal Practice Certificate.

It also provides a suitable qualification for those of you wishing to change career or move into a management position. The course has been put together following consultation with employers to ensure that you gain relevant competencies for various stages of your marketing career. It aims to provide you with the knowledge, skills and understanding required by practitioners to operate highly effectively at a management level. It is aimed at existing project managers who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge to embrace a number of specific project and programme management disciplines. However, it is also suitable for general managers who would like to extend their skills in this area. It emphasises the tactical and operational aspects of project management and provides a foundation of good practice plus transferable skills in business and commerce. It is vocationally focused and aims to equip you with employability skills including cognitive, intellectual, practical and professional. It will also deepen your understanding of relevant ethical, legal and professional considerations when dealing with members of the public. The course delivers a contemporary educational experience combining work-based assessment with bespoke undergraduate modules. Team working, together with technical and practical skills, were all identified as areas needing the greatest level of improvement in this sector. Following consultation with their members, the Sector Skills Council for Logistics has codesigned this course with the University to fill these gaps and provide a nationally-recognised sector-specific qualification. UCPD/UCCE Events Management NQF Level 4 1 semester part time Hartlepool College of Further Education Event management is the act of managing something that happens at a given place and time. Events are organised for many reasons, but they are usually designed to celebrate, inspire, commemorate and influence. For these reasons, events have become an important function of successful organisations and are recognised to have a significant impact on people associated with them. To meet the increasing need for well qualified events managers, Hartlepool College of Further Education is introducing a new suite of events management certificates in partnership with the University of Teesside: University Certificate in Professional Development (UCPD) / University Certificate in Continuing Education (UCCE) Events Management. The UCPD course comprises two units that have been designed to introduce the nature, scale and impact of the events industry in addition to encouraging the development of personal employability skills. You will be offered the opportunity to attend the International IAM Students Conference in March, and visiting speakers include one from the IAM. It is designed to help you demonstrate your ability to use information effectively, supervise and train others, and maximise your personal development to equip you for promotion. It recognises that information is central to the effective running of any organisation and asks you to consider administration in its wider organisational context. 19 19 ILM Diploma in Management 1.5 years part time This professional qualification is specifically designed to give practising or aspiring middle managers a solid foundation in their formal development in this role. It develops a comprehensive range of basic middle management skills, assisting you in gaining the knowledge required at this level. During the course you will work through the Award and Certificate stages of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) which are the foundation elements of the Diploma. The course requires critical thinking, evaluating theory against reality, and identifies opportunities for exploring the impact of organisational change on stakeholders.
