Deborah Lock: Before joining the University of West London, Deborah created a university Research and Business Development Unit and managed a wide range of European funded projects for Surrey University. In 2008, she was appointed as Executive Director at Kingston University. 3 Meet: Lyn Greaves Senior Lecturer National Teaching Fellow Lyn Greaves has worked across all levels of the education sector in both a professional and voluntary capacity. Her research focuses on supporting learner engagement within complex and evolving landscapes through creative learning designs. Understanding how technology and pedagogy might develop learner digital identities and information literacy has always been a particular area of interest. Lyn s research work is practice led, and she works closely with students to understand perceptions of their current Higher Education experience. Lyn has designed and led a number of the JISC and HEA funded projects exploring learner experiences. Her research interests includes learning literacies for the digital age in our approaches to designing the learning experience. Effective scaffolding of the learner, creative learning designs, supporting non-traditional learner engagement within complex and ill-defined curriculum are all areas of her current work. 4 UG Accounting and Finance You will learn all the principles of accounting and finance, while developing the key skills to excel in the financial marketplace. It has been designed to maximise exemptions that may be obtained from the professional accounting bodies examinations. Most of our students go on to study for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) examinations. When you graduate you will be awarded up to nine exemptions and it is possible to become a qualified Accountant within two years of graduation. This means that in a period of five years you can achieve a good honours degree and a prestigious accounting qualification. In the National Student Survey our course has regularly finished in the top five accounting courses in the country and 94% of our students said that they were satisfied with the course. 15 PG Masters One year January MSc Management (Health and Social Care) Top-up This course will enable you to top-up your DMS (Health and Social Care) to a full masters qualification. It consists of Research Methods and a Dissertation. Part of the assessment of the Research Methods is a dissertation proposal. You have to pass this proposal to proceed onto the Dissertation itself. On completion of the taught element of the course (the RM) you will meet with your supervisor and agree on a schedule of work leading to the submission of the dissertation.
