6 Susan Burrow Professional Experience Bevill State Community College, Hamilton, Alabama Administrative Roles Campus Associate Dean - May 2003 to present The Campus Associate Dean role evolved through the merger of four institutions to form Bevill State Community College. The executive campus administrative duties were previously fulfilled by a President and later a Provost of each campus. With each subsequent merger the duties remained similar but the position was fulfilled by a Campus Associate Dean. The Campus Associate Dean is recognized throughout the service area as the chief administrator and works to represent the local community to the larger service area which results in a comprehensive and complex community college. During this time frame, I served as program chair for two of the four Bevill State campuses. In addition, I provided administrative leadership for the Practical Nursing Program across all Bevill State campuses. The Chair coordinates the instructional schedule for the campus and collaborates with chairs from all campuses to share human resources. The Chair assumes all planning and budget management for the division and works closely with the Campus Associate Dean. The chair also assumes teaching responsibility in addition to administrative responsibility. For three years, I traveled to Washington, D.C. to participate in the National Association of Development Organizations meeting and met with congressional leaders to present the Regional Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies. Executive committee members participate in the recruitment of new and expanding industries. The CEDS is a result of regional economic planning that combines both private and public interests. The CEDS document drives funding priorities for projects funded through ARC and EDA funding sources in addition to other funding sources present Northwest Alabama Councils on Local Government Board of Directors This organization serves as the Regional Planning Organization for a five county area in Northwest Alabama. The Board of Directors serves to approve the operation and function of the organization present Alabama Rural Action Commission Governor Bob Riley appointee to serve as a Workforce Committee Co- Chair for Region 1 of the ARAC. The commission is charged with creating new partnerships and collaborative teams to address key issues at the grass roots and policy levels Southeast U.S. Japan and Japan U.S. Southeast Associations Joint Meeting I traveled with the Alabama delegation to Tokyo as a conference participant. Our delegation met with 28 prospective Japanese firms and met with Japanese firms currently located in the U.S. The group held discussions with the Japanese External Trade Organization executives Interstate 22 Alliance The seven county cooperative was formed to recruit industry along I-22. Target market sector includes automotive, metal fabrication, plastics, wood products industry, and aviation.
