Reservations and Collections Reserved tickets must be paid for within five working days of making the reservation, or before 3 working days of the event date. If tickets are not paid for in this time, they will be released for sale. Paid for tickets should be collected at least 15 mins before the start of a show. 6 Autumn // // REGULAR Classes D2E Youth Drama D2E is a fantastic opportunity for young people to improve on their acting, singing and dancing techniques, in addition to being involved in live productions on the Guildhall stage. Not only this, but it s a great way to meet new friends and have a brilliant time! This year, the senior group performed Rent School Edition in May, whilst the junior and intermediate groups performed High School Musical Jr in July. Both showed how hard the groups worked, and were enjoyed by the audiences night after night. Most important of all, the Sessions are fun, an ideal way for young people interested in theatre to spend part of their school holidays. Vincent a stranger to himself is a dramatic ballet based on the life and loves of Van Gogh. The lads played in bands with Dave Berry and Joe Cocker from their home City of Sheffield and worked extensively with great artistes such as The Shadows, Everley Brothers, Gene Pitney, Del Shannon, Neil Sedaka, The Searchers, and many more. 14 Autumn // // A Solitary Man The Songs of Neil Diamond Bob Drury (The Neil Diamond Story) returns to the Guildhall Arts Centre with a brand new one-man show celebrating the genius of singer/songwriter Neil Diamond. The show starts with some beautifully crafted and emotional ballads including Play Me, Girl You ll Be A Woman Soon and Morningside revealing the sheer quality of Neil Diamond s music and lyrics. The second half of the show picks up the pace and promises a barrage of block-buster hits that span the decades including America, Hello Again, Love on the Rocks, Forever in Blue Jeans, Cracklin Rosie and of course Sweet Caroline. It s a fantastic show and Bob is touring the UK with over fifty theatre dates this year. It s a definite must-see for all Neil Diamond fans! Hire / Live Music Friday 18 September The Pilgrimage of Grace and the Lincolnshire Rising With Don Chiswell The rebellion against Henry VIII during originated in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. It was directed against the policies of the monarch (such as the dissolution of the monasteries and the effects of the enclosure of common land) and was to shake the very foundations of the Tudor dynasty. What were its aims and why did it fail after its initial success? What part did Peterborough play in its suppression? 16 Autumn // // Grantham Big Brass Band St Barnabas Hospice After continued success, and by popular demand, Grantham Rhythm and Blues Orchestra (GRAB) will be hosting their very own night of big band sounds. Performing hits from Count Basie, Frank Sinatra, Buddy Rich, plus many more, Grantham s own big band are set to entertain and delight. GRAB is an exciting musical project in Grantham, formed to provide an outlet for accomplished amateur musicians. Having played several successful gigs in the Grantham and the surrounding area and due to local demand, they will now fill The Guildhall theatre with their very own night of big band jazz. Hire / Live Music Thursday 1 October Hire / Musical Saturday 3 October 7.50 Thoroughly Modern Musicals Tony Peers Production Join us as our stunning vocalists take you on a journey through some of the biggest musicals from the West End and Broadway, including songs from Les Miserable, Miss Saigon, Mamma Mia, and Grease to name a few. Add some glittering costumes and sparkling sets and this show becomes a must for anyone who loves a musical. 16 Mostly Musicals Hi-Notes Highly acclaimed local group the Hi-notes, present an evening of memorable songs from the magical world of the musicals - a not to be missed concert in aid of Grantham Volunteer Dementia Support. The evening will include local classical, fingerstyle guitarist Nigel Truman who has being playing live in the Grantham area for the last 12 years. GVDS are a group of volunteers who run a lunch club, carers group and information outlet for people with dementia and their carers. 17 // // Autumn 2015 Grantham Music Club The Hinson Family Ensemble As a curtain raiser to our new season we are delighted to welcome back a long standing friend of Grantham Music Club, NIGEL HINSON (clarinet) who, together with his immensely talented family, will be performing a varied selection of music ranging from classical to jazz. Nigel s easy rapport with an audience, and the extremely high standard of his and his family s performance, will undoubtedly provide a most entertaining evening. Sponsored by Brigadier Charles Smith in memory of his wife Sonia. Music & Poetry of World War I Entirely appropriately on Armistice Day, RICHARD RODDIS (tenor), with CLIVE POLLARD (piano) and ROSALIND WILLIAMS with GILLIAN VON FRAGSTEIN (readers), will present a personal anthology of words and music by some of those affected by the Great War. Richard is well known throughout the Midlands as a tenor soloist and choral conductor and a few seasons ago performed at the Music Club and also appeared as a soloist for Grantham Choral Society. Wednesday 7 October The Hall of The King s School Wednesday 11 November The Hall of The King s School Cantabile A capella ensemble This hugely talented a capella ensemble return to present a further entertaining evening of music for all tastes for the Festive Season. They proved to be such a popular choice when they last performed at the Music Club, with their mixture of classical and Christmas music, along with items of a lighter comic touch. A new female member has joined them recently as previously they were comprised of four male voices. This should provide added interest! A very suitable choice, we think, for our Christmas Concert.
