Inside Vizcaya: Exploration and Discovery Wednesday, January 21, :00 p.m., Courtyard Members: Free; Non-members: $10 Vizcaya s owner James Deering loved exploration and navigation, demonstrated by his extensive collection of worldly objects and maps. We re following in Deering s footsteps exploring Vizcaya with Curator Gina Wouters, writer Nathaniel Sandler and Game of Thrones cartographer Michael Gellatly. If that wasn t insider enough, we ll be using a map made by Gellatly, specifically for the evening. Viewing Vizcaya: Tony Rome (1967) Wednesday, February 18, :00 p.m., Courtyard Members: $12; Non-members: $18 *Culture Shock Miami Frank Sinatra stars as Tony Rome, a tough Miami Private Investigator, hired by a local millionaire (who happens to live at Vizcaya!) to find his daughter s stolen jewelry. In the process Rome takes us on a tour of Miami s landmarks as they were in the 60s. Contemporary Arts Program (CAP): Lost Spaces Artist Workshop Wednesday, February 25, :00 p.m., Ticket Booth Free

4 Vizcaya is seeking local artists to create site-- specific original artwork as part of the Discovering Lost Spaces and Stories Contemporary Arts Program (CAP). This workshop will cover the project s conceptual framework and is designed to orient artists who are interested in learning more or applying. Included will be a look at the estate s proposed installation sites. 6 Almost 100 years ago, long before the Farmer s Market craze, Vizcaya s Village had a farm stand, selling the farm s extra produce, dairy and eggs to the local community. Join us to get more acquainted with the prototype by exploring Miami s long history of urban agriculture and touring our kitchen garden and historic farm village. Over the course of history, objects from Vizcaya have been removed and objects that didn t start at Vizcaya showed up. So what happens when pieces that were originally at Vizcaya aren t here anymore? We go on the hunt! Join us to hear more about how we tracked down information, followed the leads, and negotiated some safe returns! 7 Inside Vizcaya: Readings with O, Miami Poetry Wednesday, April 29, :00 p.m., Courtyard Members: $12; Non-members: $18 O, Miami Poetry is bringing the Miami Poetry Month celebrations to Vizcaya with readings from three distinguished poets: Frank Bidart, whose storytelling makes you long to know what happens to his poor, doomed characters; Chase Twichell will read his work, inspired by our beloved South Florida landscape; and Peg Boyers will share excerpts from her latest book of poetry inspired, much like Vizcaya, by Venice.
