2 Course description Mayo Clinic Endoscopy Live 2008 will provide a comprehensive, state-of-theart experience for the busy practicing gastroenterologist and nurse. National and international experts discuss new developments and best practices in esophageal, small bowel, colonic and pancreatic endoscopy so the learner leaves with immediately applicable clinical information with the goal of improving his/her competency and performance for better patient care. Features of this course include: 8 hours of live endoscopies broadcast via satellite from Mayo Clinic Hospitals in Florida, Minnesota and Arizona. A hands-on workshop provides the attendee with an opportunity improve their skills or learn new skills at EMR (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection), EUS-FNA (Endoscopic Ultrasound-Fine Needle Aspirate), ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography), stents, ablation, clips and confocal, and balloon enterography. Attendees may select one or all of these techniques which will be taught by course faculty and facilitated by staff from the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Meet the Professor sessions will give practical How to do it tips when clinical experience must be relied on for challenging cases. Best Video Sessions will demonstrate best evidence approaches to patient management. Nursing Sessions provide the GI nurse and technician with valuable tools and resources to improve patient care. Nurses will have their own Meet The Professor sessions and hands-on workshop. Course learning objectives Upon conclusion of this program, participants should be able to: - Improve performance of advanced therapeutic endoscopic procedures such as advanced imaging methods, endoscopic mucosal resection and double balloon enteroscopy - Evaluate different approaches to detection and endoscopic therapy of dysplasia in Barrett s esophagus, colon polyps and ulcerative colitis - Establish programs for quality improvement and monitoring in endoscopy - Describe future trends in endoscopic practice and technology Attendance at this Mayo course does not indicate nor guarantee competence or proficiency in the performance of any procedures which may be discussed or taught in this course. Intended audience This course is designed for the practicing gastroenterologist, gastrointestinal surgeon, physicians practicing gastrointestinal endoscopies, gastrointestinal fellows, residents, physician assistants and gastrointestinal nurses and technicians. Credit College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. College of Medicine, Mayo Clinic designates this educational activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Other Health Care Professionals A certificate of attendance will be provided to other health care professionals for requesting credits in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty societies, or other professional associations.

Date and Location Mayo Clinic Endoscopy Live 2008 will be held November 20-22, Course headquarters will be located at Loews Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando in Orlando, Florida. Registration To register online, visit or complete the attached registration form and return by mail or fax. The registration fee includes tuition, comprehensive course syllabus, continental breakfasts, break refreshments, lunch, welcome reception and workshops. Although it is not Mayo School of CME policy to limit the number of registrants for a course, conference room facilities may necessitate closing of enrollment; therefore, early registration is advised. A letter of confirmation will be sent upon receipt of payment and completed registration form. Please present the confirmation letter when checking in at the meeting registration desk. Cancellation policy If you cancel your participation in this course, your registration fee, less a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded when written notification is received by Mayo School of CME before November 6, 2008 (fax#: ). No refunds will be made after November 6, Mayo School of CME reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the unlikely event Mayo School of CME must cancel or postpone this course, Mayo School of CME will refund the registration fee, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges, or expenses to participants, including fees assessed by airline/travel/lodging agencies. Location/Lodging Accommodations Guest rooms have been reserved for attendees and their guests with a special course rate of $215 plus applicable taxes for standard rooms. Guest must be 21 years of age or older to reserve rooms. The extra person rate is $25 per night; however children under 18 occupying their parent s room using existing bedding stay free. Roll-aways are $25 per night. In order to receive the special rate, reservations must be made before the room block is filled or before the expiration date of October 26, 2008 whichever comes first. Reservations will be taken following this date based on space and rate availability. Lodging arrangements are the sole responsibility of the individual registrant. Parking Self parking is $12 per day. Valet parking is $14 per day.
