3 elcome to the Fall 2015 trimester offerings of the Echo Horizon After School Enrichment Classes. This packet includes registration information, descriptions/schedules of all classes, and flyers for enrichment classes offered by Mad Science, Musical Theater Los Angeles, Prime Time, Sand Sisters Los Angeles, Soccer Shots, Parker-Anderson Enrichment, LIFT Enrichment, ACE Enrichment and So WFly Kids! The last page is a Registration Form for classes offered by Echo Horizon School instructors. Please read the following policies. Children in After School Enrichment Classes will remain in their designated carpool rooms until 2:15/3:15. They then move to the Auditorium for a 15-minute supervised snack time - Please pack a nutritious snack for your child. Instruction begins on the half hour and classes run 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 75 minutes, 90 minutes or 120 minutes. Refer to the class descriptions for the length of individual classes. The Registration Form, accompanied by payment, holds a place in a class. You can submit the Registration Form with a check or visit echohorizon.org/afterschool to pay using PayPal. Please refer any questions about financial assistance to the Business Office, not to the teacher of the class. Questions about financial assistance for classes offered by enrichment companies should be directed to the enrichment company. Registration for classes offered by Echo Horizon School instructors must be hand delivered (or mailed) to the Office. Teachers cannot accept registration for their classes. If a class is full, the School will maintain a short waitlist for the class. If a child is taken off the waitlist, the registration fee will be required the next business day. If a class is full, please do not contact the teacher. S/he cannot change the status of the class or the waiting list. Registration for classes offered by enrichment companies is handled by the enrichment company. Echo Horizon School cannot accept registration for these classes. At the end of each class, pick up your child from the classroom or area where the class meets. Teachers will not bring children to the foyer when class is over. Any child who is not picked up within ten minutes of the end of class will be dropped into Extended Day incurring a $25 drop-in fee for the day. A courtesy phone call to the parents will be made before dropping a child into Extended Day. If your child has missed school on the day s/he has an after school class, s/he may not attend the class. 6 TUESDAYS CONTINUED YEARBOOK STAFF Teacher: Alicia Camacho Dates: September 21 - June 7 Grades: 5-6 Time: 3:30-4:45 No class November 24, December 15 and April 5, 12, 19, 26 during which time the book is being printed. Make Your Mark! We are assembling a staff of fun, hard working and energetic students with lots of school spirit to create the 2015/2016 Echo Horizon School Yearbook. Be an editor, a designer, and a writer who will help freeze this spectacular school year in time. You will be given the tools to meet a deadline, conduct a photo shoot, create a layout and work professionally alongside teachers. In the spring, you will get the chance to plan a unique Distribution Event for your peers. Help label and deliver yearbooks to friends and faculty, and marvel at the success of your published work. Enrollment is based on student application and teacher discretion, and is limited. Please turn in application by September 8, 2015 to be considered for membership. 7 WEDNESDAYS GIRLS CLUB JRS. Teacher: Alicia Camacho Dates: September 9 - December 9 Grades: PK - K Time: 3:30-4:30 NEW! Girls Club Jrs. is an energetic and fun filled experience for all little girls. We will play, create, build and try new things. All activities are crafted just for these little ones to master and have a good time. Rooted in all of these activities is our classic Girls Club message: We can make the world a better place just by being ourselves. Girls can do anything! Hope to see you there! Enrollment is limited so please sign up today. Cost: $315 for 11 classes, which includes a $40 materials fee. BASKETBALL 101 Teacher: Jelani Kelly Dates: September 9 - December 9 Grades: PK 6 Time: 3:30-4:15 Boys and girls will develop basketball skills and have a bunch of fun in Basketball 101. Mr. Kelly will be teaching passing, dribbling, shooting and defending so everyone can become successful basketball players. We ll learn about the rules of the game so we can play fun basketball games for each skill that is practiced. Throughout the trimester we ll enjoy some friendly competition in the form of scrimmage games. The older, and possibly more advanced, kids will help the younger ones and show their stuff. The Mega Game will be December 9th and all the players will get to show what they ve learned. Watch out Steph Curry, the next generation is coming for you!! Cost: $220 for 11 classes -6-

8 WEDNESDAYS CONTINUED READING CLUB Teacher: Rachele Groff Dates: September 9 - December 9 Grades: 1-2 Time: 3:30-4:15 Have fun practicing reading and enhancing literacy awareness in an informal setting! Children will choose from an exciting selection of read-aloud books from various genres. They will play games and participate in activities aimed specifically at helping them become more fluent readers. Minimum enrollment of 4 is required for this class to go forward. Cost: $220 for 11 classes STUDY HALL Teacher: Rachel Lewis Dates: September 9 - December 9 Grades: 3 6 Time: 3:30-4:15 Study in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere right here at Echo Horizon School. Students will receive assistance with homework assignments, including reteaching of concepts and skills, reinforcement and further development of organizational skills and strategies for effective preparation for class quizzes and tests. Minimum enrollment of 4 is required for this class to go forward. Cost: $220 for 11 classes -7-

VIDEO CLUB Teacher: Elaine Wrenn Dates: October 1 - June 2 No class December 17, February 11, March 17, March 24, May 5, May 26 and school holidays. Grades: 4-6 Time: 3:30-4:45 Learn to express your creativity through video! This is an eight-month class in which students will gain numerous video production skills including producing, directing, writing, operating camera equipment, and the use of computer technology for digital video editing, titling, and special effects. Video Club members will explore different equipment, programs, and videography styles and will produce the Echo Horizon Video Yearbook. Class size is limited and enrollment is based on application & teacher recommendation (application and recommendation forms due September 11). 21 Sand Sisters Los Angeles is an all-girls youth program designed to encourage girls to lead active and healthy lives. A positive themed word of the week will be incorporated into every lesson through a guided journal, linked to a kid approved active game or exercise circuit. Our lessons are based on our belief in respect, high self-esteem, community involvement, nature and being active. 24 Join Video Club and become an expert on digital video production! Learn to express your creativity through video! This is an eight month class in which students will gain numerous video production skills including producing, directing, writing, operating camera equipment, and the use of computer technology for digital video editing, music production, titling, and special effects. Video Club members will explore different equipment, programs, and videographic styles and will produce the Echo Horizon Video Yearbook.. This fun and exciting club is open to students in grades 4-6 and is taught by Ms. Wrenn. It provides an opportunity for students to learn new skills, gain self-confidence, and express themselves artistically. Former Echo Horizon Video Team members as well as new members are welcome to apply. Club members must be responsible, be able to work independently and in a team, be able to take turns and share, and be willing to have fun and work hard! They must also stay caught up with their school work and be responsible to make up work they miss while filming school events. Membership in the video club requires a commitment to complete the entire course. If this sounds like the club for you, fill out a Video Club Application and give your last year's teacher a Recommendation Form and ask them to complete it for you.
