1 DILWORTH HOTLINE For the week of NOVEMBER 5, 2012 Nov Red Ribbon week begins Nov Food Drive begins Nov Presidential Election Day remember to VOTE Nov Picture Make Up Day Nov Mrs. Campbell s class going to the UMFA-9:40-11:30 Nov Short Day (school dismissed at 1:00 p.m.) Nov th grade going to see Grease at Highland High-9:30-12:30 Nov, Reflections Gallery Stroll 6:30-8:00 p.m. Nov th grade going to Tracy Aviary 9:15-11:30 Nov Trimester ends Nov Food Drive ends Nov Short day (school dismissed at 1:00 p.m.) Principal s Message I would like to write a few words in support of the food drive that is currently running at Dilworth Elementary. Our student council has been, and still is, working hard to make the food drive a success. I would like to thank you in advance for your donations to the Utah Food Bank and for making others lives easier. Thank you, student council, for leading the effort. Regular attendance in elementary school sets up a good pattern for your child s entire school career. Show your child that school comes first by trying to keep days off for illnesses and family emergencies. Also, scheduling routine doctor and dentist appointments for after school or over school breaks helps students stay in school for critical class time. Sally Foster Order Forms Sally Foster orders are starting to arrive at your homes and many of you have noticed that the order forms are missing. The order forms are in the school office and you may stop by to pick them up or you can call the school to give permission to send them home with your student. This is the only copy there is, so we want to make sure that the order forms get home to you. Just a reminder that if you had chocolates on your order the shipment will not be arriving until November. If you have any questions please call the school office at and we will be happy to help you. Dilworth s Annual Food Drive Dilworth s annual food drive is starting today, Nov. 5 th and ending on Friday, Nov. 16 th. The Utah Food Bank is in need of the following items: peanut butter, canned tuna, canned fruit, canned vegetables, canned stews, canned chili, boxed meals, macaroni and cheese and pasta.

2 Others items such as diapers, wipes, paper towels, etc. are also welcomed. Please send theseitems with your student. Picture Make Up Day School picture makeup day is NOV. 8 TH. If your student wants to have a picture taken there are packets in the office. If you want to have a retake done, you will need to send the pictures that were taken on the 28 th of September with your student to take down to have retakes done. If you have questions, please call the school. Dilworth Red Ribbon Week November 5th-9th Students, we have an important message to share with you...dilworth Dingoes are Drug Free! Join us this week as we pledge to stay drug free, learn why it is so important to be drug free, and have fun doing it. Parents, this will be an opportunity for you to have an important conversation with your Dingoes about being drug free. Take this chance to reinforce the education of the dangers of drugs, ways to say no, and drug safety. We want all of our students and kids to be healthy, safe and confident. Monday, 11/5: "T.E.A.M. Dilworth was Born to Be Drug Free! What are you born to be? Write your pledge!" Tuesday, 11/6: "If you are Born to Be Drug Free...then you win! Listen for directions on how to find your prize!" Wednesday, 11/7: "You are Born to Be AMAZING So Stay Drug Free! Enjoy an Amazing Magic Show!" Thursday, 11/8: "Let's stay on track to be our best and SOCK OUT Drugs Together! Wear your craziest pair of socks!" Friday, 11/9: "T.E.A.M. Dilworth 'Chewses' to Be Drug Free!" Photographers Needed We are in need of your picture taking talents. It's not a hard job, but it's a very important one! We need more parents who are willing to take pictures of special Dilworth activities (special events, field trips, parties, etc.). It's helpful to have a "lead parent" for each grade and then to have parents assigned to each class as well - this way, we are sure to get plenty of pictures which will be used for both the yearbook and the end of the year slide-show. We can use more help in each class/grade. These "parent photographers" don't necessarily need any special photography skills (though these are helpful), but they do need a good camera and the willingness to get some great group shots and photos that are not only of their child/children, but others in the class/grade as well. We are also in need of some helpers for a few yearbook pages (for Martinez, Mullen, and Bergstedt). Of course, we've already made some great memories this year so if you've got some photos to share (of more than just your child/children), we'd love to have a copy as well! If you are willing to help with the photography/yearbook or if you already have some great photos you are willing to share, please Emily Aikins-Coda at or call her at m Thank You.
