4 Executive Overview The year 2013 in India has shown more green shoots than 2012 from a hiring perspective. The mid to senior level recruitments in key sectors promise growth. The paradox of this is that the macro economic data forecast is not very encouraging. At 4.5-5% growth the GDP data points point a bleak picture could well be a year of single digits hike for most industries barring Pharma. This year HR Heads and their Compensation & Benefits consultants will be challenged to give the right salary benchmarking. All progressive corporates need to remain competitive in terms of their salary positioning as it is a key component of Employee Value Proposition. At one level you have to address critical roles which are emerging due to business situations and at another level you need to retain your top talent. Both need to be addressed partly by addressing compensation needs of role and talent. 5 Banking & Financial Services A sector highly challenged due to global squeeze and macro influences of the industry. Salary hike over the previous year have been lackluster, mostly in single digits hikes. Even Job Hoppers are not getting substantial hikes. The only roles which are in demand are sales/relationship managers. These front line roles continue to be in demand as Banks continue to invest in new sales in tight market. These roles are seen to be getting double digit hikes to either retain or to keep the market competitiveness going. The poaching between banks is ensuring that these roles are getting hikes at the cost of other roles. Relationship Managers salaries will see year on year increase in double digits.

8 Consumer Retail Brand Management/Product management, Demand /Supply planners, Procurement are the three categories of jobs which are sought after by companies. Growing consumption means Consumer companies are always in the game. Intense competition asks for better brand management. So product Managers will continuously be in demand, their salaries increase by 15% job hopping will be at about 20% plus. Inventory management being the key and growing competition from Retail/Hypermart companies for the same talent has put pressure on Demand Supply planners & Procurement Professionals. With advent of Retail FDI norms changing, Procurement & Demand/Supply planners will see salary increase in the range of 15% plus and when poached by competition at about 25% or so as there is limited talent for new retail companies in this space. Off course there are only few jobs in this space. As these employees are also poached by Pharma companies their diversity of influence has increased.

High Rise/Mixed Use Integrated Townships/Rail Roads: Engineers with 10 years of relevant experience would command 15-20% hikes in compensation irrespective of the Macro Economy Situations-skills typically on the go would be Construction Managers, Execution Head, MEP, HVAC, Formworks, Civil& Structural Professionals, QS& QA. Oil and Gas Geomarkets, Subsurfacing, Drilling and Completions, Workover and Well Engineering, HSE and Quality professionals, LNG and Hydrocarbon Process Operations, Process Technology Licensing Professionals can annually see their salaries going up by 15% plus as their CVs are globally marketable and not too many people are found across the globe Aerospace & MRO: All the airlines are investing in newer aircrafts, capacity increase, Global aviation players are offshoring their work to their JV or captive centres in India. Engineers with over 10 years of experience in Design, Mechanical, Structural Design, PPC Engineers, Quality Assurance, SCM, Avionics Manufacturing are likely to see 12-15% salary increase. It s a new space and hence the demand of the skill has to be compensated.
