11 LOHC a new technology for safe hydrogen storage, offering several advantages LOHC stands for liquid organic hydrogen carriers, for example N- Ethylcarbazol = C14H13N with the ability to safely store high amounts of hydrogen The LOHC can be cyclically charged and discharged with hydrogen by catalytic reactions: Charging: exothermal reaction with C and bar (catalyst: e.g. ruthenium) Discharging: endothermic reaction at C on ambient pressure (catalyst: e.g. nickel oxide) contact: The LOHC technology has several advantages over hydrogen storage in pressure tanks Small footprint (2MWh in 1m³ LOHC) Decoupled sites and sizes for charging and discharging Safe storage under normal conditions (ambient temperature, normal pressure) Transportable in existing infrastructure (trucks) AREVA tests now this technology during a longterm field test under realistic conditions AREVA's Energy Storage Solutions K. 12 AREVA joins with Schneider Electric to develop a new innovative Flow Battery solution AREVA, Schneider Electric and other partners are developing a new low cost electricity storage. It is a liquid/gas flow battery on hydro bromic acid and hydrogen (H 2 / HBr) A prototype with 150kW / 0,9 kwh will be installed in Schneider Electric s Cadarache research site in 2016 From 2016 on the pilot (1MW / 6MWh), for early adopters, will be available, containerized in a 40 feet container The envisaged round trip efficiency is nearly 70% AREVA will lead the project, manufacturing, integrating and installing the storage solution while Schneider Electric will design, manufacture and install the complementary power conversion system. contact: AREVA's Energy Storage Solutions K. 13 Dynamic behaviour of the phase shifter on the grid Need for rotating phase shifters in the grid The German Situation Initial situation, benefits of rotating generators, they: facilitate fast dynamic voltage regulation and contribute to frequency stabilization (inertia) provide reactive power (inductive or capacitive), as reactive power (eg from electric motors) must be compensated to reduce losses Change in the German energy policy Ongoing reduction of > 40 large rotating generators and significant increase in wind and photovoltaic sources cannot substitute effects of rotating machines will lead to a lack of big rotating machines in the grid to facilitate grid stability and provide phase shifting Our offering includes: Consulting or turnkey for adaptation of an existing power plant for phase shifting Consulting or turnkey for new build of phase shifting units contact: AREVA's Energy Storage Solutions K.
