4 Our Selection Process The Healthcare Services Practice of Sanford Rose Associates works on behalf of client companies to target and recruit highly qualified candidates. At the beginning of each search assignment, we work together with the client to define the key selection criteria and skills required for the candidate placement. It is critical that we also understand your company s culture in order to ensure that our candidates represent the right cultural fit. Our clear and comprehensive understanding enables us to finalize a Position Profile and conduct the search efficiently and effectively. Using our proprietary Dimensional Search process, personal contacts, industry associations, network of resources and colleague referrals, we narrow our search to identify suitable and qualified candidates. PHASE 2: Candidate Presentation and Review On the basis of our targeted research, we approach potential candidates on an informed basis. We verify each candidate s academic and professional qualifications as well as their portfolio of achievements. Once we determine that an individual is both qualified and interested in the position, we interview and screen each candidate for further evaluation. Before presenting a candidate to the client, we conduct a rigorous competency-based interview. Each candidate is assessed and validated against the position specifications and a report is prepared with competency assessments and recommendations. We also perform psychometric testing to provide our client with each candidate s unique behavioral style to ensure a perfect match for the client and candidate. 5 PHASE 3: Interview Process and Debriefing Prior to presenting a candidate to our client, our search consultants do their best to determine if the candidate is a good match for the opportunity. In addition, we consider the candidate s motivation for making a career change and judge whether they are genuinely interested in the opportunity. We then schedule a series of preliminary phone interviews with the hiring manager, human resources and other executives. As a next step, we offer both in-person and video interviews to allow the client to further assess the individual. Video interviewing enables the client to eliminate travel and entertainment expenses and time associated with coordinating travel. Our goal is to present a minimum of three qualified candidates, giving the client an opportunity to select the ideal candidate. PHASE 4: Candidate Offer and Commitment Our search professionals are available every step of the way during the search and placement process. When an offer is made to a candidate, our consultants are available to participate in negotiations to finalize the offer. We also help each candidate prepare for any potential counter-offers that they may receive. We conduct a detailed client satisfaction survey after every search assignment. In order to improve the quality of our service in the future, we actively seek feedback from our clients and identify any issues from which we can learn. We retain an interest in the executives we helped recruit well after they accept their new positions. We make ourselves available to the client and new executive to help with integration in whatever way we can. 7 Healthcare Services Experience and Expertise Collectively, the senior partners of SRA s Healthcare Services Practice have over 50 years of executive-level experience in the healthcare industry. Both partners have held senior management roles in public and privately-held companies and devote their entire practice to serving the healthcare industry. Who better to fill CEO and executive searches than professionals with expertise and success in these roles? William C. Behrens, Senior Partner Bill Behrens brings 25 years of healthcare administrative service expertise to the executive search process and is a Senior Partner of SRA-Mount Pleasant. Bill was the Chief Executive Officer for several of the largest and most renowned medical group practice organizations in the country. He acquired and merged physician practices, developed strong working relationships with local hospitals and created large PPOs and other joint ventures with hospital and physician entities. Bill is a graduate of Alderson- Broaddus College and has a Masters Degree in Public Health Administration from the University of South Carolina. He also graduated from the Executive Program of the Wharton School of Management. Bill is a member of the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) and Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and is a Certified Medical Practice Executive. Bill is also Executive Director and member of the International Retained Search Association (IRSA). Timothy J. Tolan, Senior Partner Tim Tolan brings a wealth of experience and expertise to executive search for the healthcare services industry. In addition to his recruiting experience, Tim has been in the healthcare field for over 25 years in executive-level positions focused on sales and business development for companies, both public and private. His vast network of contacts comes from senior positions he has held with ProxyMed/MedAvant, Healtheon/WebMD, ephysician and CITATION Computer Systems. Tim spent 12 years in sales and sales management in the physician practice management market.
