8 Universidad del Norte was founded in 1966 in. The internationalization process has always been an important strategy in the development plan of Universidad del Norte. It is the number one university on the Caribbean Coast and one of the top universities in Colombia.

28 International Internship Program at Walt Disney World Resort is a successful 6 month program. Students have the opportunity to work at Walt Disney World Resort while also studying at Valencia s International College. It s a life-changing opportunity.

31 Students are housed at WDW and are engaged in academic study and academic training at the same time. Valencia College is responsible for ensuring that students maintain their J-1 Student exchange visitor status.

32 This is an academic program that is designed by Valencia College and Universidad del Norte to provide students with an international learning opportunity at the Walt Disney World Resort. Students will be enrolled full time at Valencia College and upon program completion they will receive a total of 12 credit hours. Students receive a certificate from Valencia College upon successful completion of the program.

33 Preparation course (3 credits): This class provides hands-on training and skill building, designed to prepare the students for finding, getting, and succeeding in an internship. Business Management Course (3 credits): Course topics include customer service, professional image, teambuilding, diversity and culture, presentation skills, decision making, communication skills, management skills, and attitude.

34 Disney Collegiate Course (3 credits): Students can choose from one the following courses: Advanced Studies in Hospitality Management, Corporate Analysis, Corporate Communication, Creativity and Innovation, Human Resource Management, Interactive Learning Program, Experiential Learning, Marketing You, and Organizational Leadership. Academic Training Internship at the WDWR (3 credits): This internship course focuses on specific training roles at the Walt Disney World Resort. Academic Training Online Course (3 credits): This professional development course guides students through their internship course via reflective assignments in constructing a personal career development plan.

35 Throughout the program students develop skills and experience how businesses operate in the United States. Valencia will provide opportunities for students to participate in local field trips and cultural immersion excursions to learn about American culture. In addition, they are given the opportunity to do volunteer work.

36 There are many possible roles which participants in the Academic Exchange Program could be assigned. Like: Resort Hospitality/Front Desk Merchandise Quick-Service Food and Beverage Operations Main Entrance Operations Participants will work an average of hours per week except during peak seasons when they will complete more than 37.5 hours. Students will spend approximately six to eight hours in class per week, plus approximately four hours per week for homework

37 The students live in housing complexes, they have the chance to meet other students and live in a comfortable community. The housing complexes are part of exclusive Disney apartment communities that are home to Disney International Program participants from all over the world.

38 In order for students to be enrolled in the program, they must satisfy the following requirements: 1. The student s primary purpose in the United States must be to study rather than work. 2. The student must be in good academic standing at their home school, minimum 3.5 / 5.0 = grade average 65% or above. 3. The Academic Training Internship must be related to their major field of study. 4. The student must meet the minimum English language requirements. 5. Pass an interview with the WDW recruitment team.

39 FEES: Application Fee $ 50 Tuition and Fees $ Injury and Sickness Insurance $ 510 SEVIS Fee $ 180 Disney Program Administration Fee $ Total $3190 Living Expenses (approximate): The student must have enough money when they start the program for initial expenses and to support themselves until they receive their first paycheck in the second week. $400 for this purpose. Housing and transportation costs: Disney will deduct the cost of their housing and bus transportation (approximately $100/week) from their weekly paychecks. Food: $75 per week Personal expenses: $50 per week

41 Universidad del Norte assigns the students a teacher, from the University, to assist them during the internship. The Internship Office of Universidad del Norte also assists students during the process. Valencia College provides support during the stay and evaluates the student s progress. WDW train and provide feedback to students.

42 Students give presentations to encourage future participation in the program. Students participate in fairs to share their experiences. Students provide feedback so Universidad del Norte can make improvements to the program.
