The University has an enrollment of over 9,500 students and offers more than 90 bachelor s, master s, and doctoral degree programs. Associate Vice Provost for Student Affairs/Dean of Students January 2015 August 2015 Reporting to the Associate Provost for Student Affairs, responsibilities included supervision, hiring, leadership, and evaluation of six units: Counseling, Disability Services, Health Center, Judicial Services, Intramural Sports, and Campus Sexual Advocate totaling 50+ professional and paraprofessional staff. Additional responsibilities included enforcing the University s Code of Conduct, chairing Division wide committees, and managing day-to-day operations for the Associate Provost for Student Affairs. Managed and oversaw budgets totaling over $1,000, Successfully negotiated a hotel contract totaling over $600,000 to provide lodging for residential students. Initiated the development of the University s first six weeks programming model to increase retention efforts and promote student success. Co-chaired the assessment team to review the University s Orientation and First Year Experience programs. Interim Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students May 2014 December 2014 As the chief student affairs officer under the supervision of the Provost/ Senior Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs (promoted to this role May 2014), was responsible for managing a Division of 150+ professional and paraprofessional staff members. Units within the Division included Campus Ministries, Career Services, Community Service and Service Learning, Counseling, Disability Services, Health Center, Housing and Residence Life, Intramural Sports and Special Programs, Judicial Services, Student Engagement and Inclusion, Student Life Operations, Student Publications, Upward Bound, and Veteran Affairs. Oversaw and managed budgets totaling over $13,500, Chaired and executed the University s Title IX and S.M.A.R.T. (Sexual Misconduct/Assault Response Team) initiatives. Obtained Title IX Investigator Certification Association of Title IX Administrators (November 2014). Successfully opened a 250-bed residential facility. Chaired the largest Homecoming Week activities and programs in the history of the University. Implemented the University s Zero Tolerance on Campus Violence policy. 2 Associate Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students August 2012 May 2014 Under the supervision of the Vice President for Student Affairs, responsible for providing vision, leadership, and evaluation, enforcing the University s Code of Conduct, and fostering an environment conducive to the pursuit of knowledge by providing educational programs and services to enhance student learning and success. Units under my guidance included Counseling, Disability Services, Health Center, Housing and Residence Life, Intramural Sports and Special Programs, Judicial Services, Student Life Operations, and Veteran Affairs totaling over 100+ professional and paraprofessional staff. Developed, oversaw, and managed budgets totaling over $10,000, Implemented an accountability model for students responsible for violating the Student Code of Conduct. Effectively executed the University s first electronic judicial management (Symplicity Advocate) system. Created the Associate Director of Housing and Residence Life for Living and Learning Communities and Coordinator of Intramural Sports and Special Programs positions to provide co-curricular and co-educational learning opportunities outside of the classroom to aid in the holistic development of students. Successfully co-negotiated a hotel contract totaling over $715,000 to provide housing accommodations for residential students. Aided in the development and approval of a 630-bed residence hall. Developed the University s Dine with the Deans initiative. Successfully restructured the Housing and Residence Life department to generate a $300,000 surplus (FY14). The University offers over 50 undergraduate and master s degree programs. Director of Student Life April 2009 July 2012 Under the direction of the Vice President for Student Affairs (promoted to this role April 2009), responsibilities included the implementation a comprehensive student life program that engaged and enhanced learning based on best practices for diverse student populations. Provided supervision to 3 professional and 5 paraprofessional staff members who oversaw Career Services, Diversity Education and Programs, Greek Life, Social Club and Inter-fraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Student Government Association, Orientation, Student Programming Board, Increasing Minority Access to Graduate Education, Testing, and the operation of the Student Life website. Advised over 70 student organizations and clubs, and coordinated special initiatives including cultural awareness months, Greek Leadership Awards, Minority Achievement Gala, and Unity Fest. Served as a judicial hearing officer and a member of the Behavioral Intervention Team, maintained student handbook, and oversaw federal reference inquiries for students. Coordinated initiatives and attended meetings at the request of the President and Vice President for Student Affairs. Developed, oversaw, and managed a budget of $350,000. Developed a model for student organizations to complete annual reports electronically. Restructured the Social Club recruitment process from six days to three days to provide for more efficiency. Assisted with chartering a chapter of The National Society for Leadership and Success to promote leadership and success among students in a collegiate setting. Developed a student resource guide to enhance students understanding of resources available at the institution and ways to get involved in programs and services. 3 Director of Orientation August 2007 April 2009 Reporting to the Vice President for Student Services (promoted to this role August 2007), oversight included assessing, coordinating, and implementing all aspects of orientation that aided in acclimating freshmen and transfer students, parents and family members to the University. Developed publications and executed Spring Scholars Registration Day and trainings for orientation. Supervised 2 graduate practicum students and 10 paraprofessionals. Oversaw and managed a budget of $27,000. Implemented an evaluation system to assess the quality of services provided by the orientation program. Designed a schedule that accommodated the needs of students, parents, and family members that led to greater satisfaction. Developed marketing materials to aid in communicating programs and resources to students. Assistant Director for Diversity Education and Programs January 2007 April 2009 Under the leadership of the Director of Student Life, responsibilities included the implementation of multicultural programs and services that promoted appreciation, awareness, inclusion, equity, respect, and tolerance for populations that were underrepresented within the University community. Supervised 2 professional staff members and 3 paraprofessional staff members. Monitored minority students performance and coordinated and executed Unity Dinner, Minority Day, and Summer Bridge Institute. Advised National Pan-Hellenic Council and Increasing Minority Access to Graduate Education. Developed, oversaw, and managed a budget of $120,000. Organized and implemented institution s first GLBTQ and HIV/AIDS Awareness Week programs. Created the Minority Achievement Gala and Greek Leadership Awards to highlight the successes of minority students and Greek lettered organizations. Residence Hall Director July 2005 December 2006 Reporting to the Assistant Director of Housing, provided a safe and comfortable residential learning environment for 300 honor and scholar students in addition to managing, and assisting with community programming. Supervised 20 paraprofessionals and advised hall council. Served as a judicial hearing officer, facilitated a Resident Assistant Workshop, and managed two living learning communities Early Admission Pathway and Allied Medical Programs.
