VRM Monitor provides information on the VRM system and limited options for replaying the recordings. You cannot configure VRM with VRM Monitor. NOTICE! You need Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later for the correct display. Check the Windows Firewall settings. Default settings can possibly prohibit the display of live images. 4 4 en Getting started VRM Monitor CAUTION! For playback from within VRM Monitor you must have installed Video SDK V. 4.4x. Playback does not work correctly with Video SDK V. 5.x. 3 Getting started Configuration Manager is used to set and adjust the VRM system. The program can be installed on any PC with network access to the computer on which VRM Server has been started and to the devices that are to be managed. 3.1 Starting VRM Monitor 1. Start Internet Explorer on a PC that has network access to the VRM Server computer. 2. In the address bar, enter the IP address of the VRM Server computer and press <ENTER>. If you are starting VRM Monitor on the VRM Server computer, enter the IP address for the localhost followed by the port number if the port number is not 80: number>/ 3. Access to VRM Monitor is only possible for authorized persons. For this reason you will now be prompted to log on using your user ID. If you do not have the appropriate rights, you cannot view any recordings. CAUTION! Treat your logon details as confidential. Ensure that the password is not saved in the browser. The functions described in the following sections are now available. On the left-hand side, you will see the navigation bar. Click the appropriate entry. The information is displayed on the right-hand side. 3.2 Starting Configuration Manager To start the program: Click Start, point to Programs, point to Bosch Configuration Manager, and then click Configuration Manager. CAUTION! If a computer on which VRM Server is started is simultaneously accessed by multiple Configuration Manager programs, this can result in an inconsistent VRM configuration. Ensure that different people do not make changes to the configuration at the same time. 4 Configuring logs 5 Used icons Main window > > Service tab > Advanced tab 1. How to get here: System > Overview An overview of the VRM system status is displayed. System Time System time of the VRM Server computer. VRM uptime Elapsed time since the start of the VRM Server. System uptime Elapsed time since the start of the computer. Overall bit rate Average overall bit rate of the system. Contains the received network traffic with protocol overhead. Data bit rate Average data bit rate of the system. Contains the received video, audio and metadata. Average retention time Average time for retaining recordings (in days). Note: The data bit rate fluctuates for example due to day-night change or schedule settings. Hence the average retention time is fluctuating. 6 6 en User interface VRM Monitor Capacity Total Overall capacity on all LUNs including all backup, read-only, and transient LUNs. Usable Capacity of all standard LUNs, including protected blocks and blocks where the minimum retention time is not exceeded. Backup LUNs, transient LUNs, read-only LUNs are not included. Free Capacity on standard LUNs where the minimum retention time has been exceeded, including not protected blocks and blocks that are not allocated by devices. Protected Used capacity of the manually protected blocks. Discovery Information State Initial discovery indicates that the scan process is being performed to check the changes that occurred during VRM downtime. Operation starts after this check has been finished. Full initial discovery indicates that the initial scan process cannot be executed because no data is available. The system is completely scanned before VRM can start operating. Full discovery indicates that the scan process is finished, a full sanity check is executed. Some recordings might be out of date. Finished indicates that the scan process has successfully been performed and operation is started. LUNs left Number of LUNs left for discovery. When discovery is finished successfully, --- is displayed. Cameras Total Number of managed cameras. Offline Number of cameras being offline. Active recordings Average number of recordings. Idle Average number of cameras that are ready for recording but do not write data on the storage. LUNs Total Number of available drives. Offline Number of drives being offline. Transient Number of transient drives. Read only Number of read-only drives. Backup Number of backup drives. Load Balancing Soft limit Displays the values configured from within Configuration Manager. Hard limit Displays the values configured from within Configuration Manager. Possible maximum (7 days) Worst case estimation for consumption of bit rate and iscsi sessions for the next 7 days. Mbps Displays the estimated bitrates for peak forecast and the configured bitrates for soft limit and hard limit. iscsi Sessions Displays the estimated count of iscsi sessions for peak forecast and the configured count of iscsi sessions for soft limit and hard limit. Event Log Displays any information from the log file, for example, which users were logged in. You can also view connection errors and faults for specific cameras or other information that is logged. Server Information Server state Master server means that this computer is configured as master VRM Server and is active. Active failover server means that this computer is configured as failover VRM Server and has taken over the tasks of the master VRM Server. Passive failover server means that this computer is configured as failover VRM Server and is prepared to take over the tasks of the master VRM Server if the master VRM Server fails. Failover server IP address of the connected failover VRM Server if configured. Recording Displays the installation type of this VRM Server. Master server IP address of the master VRM Server. Only displayed, if this VRM Server is a failover VRM Server. Version Information Version Displays the current version of VRM Server. Type Usually Release. Build date Build date of the VRM. License Type Demo version, Full version, Bosch VMS version (used within Bosch Video Management System), AIO version (used for VRM appliances) Days remaining Days until license expires. --- means that license never expires. Licensed channels Count of licensed camera channels. Used channels Count of channels that are currently added to the VRM. Installation code Copy this value and paste it in Bosch Security Systems Software License Manager ( for registering the product. You additionally need the activation keys that you have purchased. 7.3 Jobs page How to get here: System > Jobs ANR Jobs Displays the data transfers from a camera in ANR mode. Backup Jobs Displays backup jobs that are manually started by a user to copy recordings from a local storage or directly attached iscsi storage device on a backup LUN. Format Jobs Displays the formatting jobs on specific LUNs. Reorganization Jobs Displays the jobs that perform automatic load balancing. Click the ID for a job to obtain further information about this job (not for all job types). Select an entry and click Delete to delete the corresponding job. If required, select multiple entries. 7.4 Logs page How to get here: Reporting > Logs. Displays the log files for VRM Server. Click an entry for a log file to display it in a new browser window. 8 8 en User interface VRM Monitor NOTICE! Compressing log files can put pressure on the system, depending on the size of the log files and the hardware in use. During this time, VRM may become slower. Hence, limit the number of files to be compressed to the minimum required. Allows you to export various log files for VRM Server. Logging Types Allows you to select logging types for export. Time Period Allows you to enter the desired data. The exported logs will contain data from the entered time period. Export Click to create a.zip file with selected log files, for example to send them to the Technical Support Team. 7.6 Bit Rate Export page How to get here: Reporting > Bit Rate Export Allows you to export various.csv files with bit rate information about selected cameras and targets. Note: The bit rate is 0, when VRM Server was offline. Data of the last 3 months is available. It can take a long time to export large data, i.e. many cameras during a long time period. And the CSV file can become very large. Bit Rate Export (*.csv) Allows you to select cameras and targets for bit rate log export. Report Category Allows you to select the desired report type for export. Time Period Allows you to enter the desired data. The exported logs will contain data from the entered time period. Separator Allows you to select the desired separator used in the exported CSV file. Export Click to create a CSV file with selected log files, for example to send them to the Technical Support Team. 7.7 Overview page How to get here: Cameras > Overview Provides an overview of all cameras allocated to the VRM system. Click a column title to sort the table by this column. You receive camera-specific information that includes the connection time, recording rate. The recording rate is displayed graphically for each camera. CAUTION! For playback from within VRM Monitor you must have installed Video SDK V. 4.4x. Green line indicates active recording, red line indicates generic recording errors. 7.8 Camera Info page How to get here: Cameras > Overview. In the Name or the Address column, click an entry. Name Name of the camera. Group name Displays the device group name configured in Configuration Manager (Device Allocator). Address IP address of the camera Uptime Elapsed time since the last start of the camera. Connection Time Elapsed time since this camera is connected to the VRM Server. A red entry means unintentional downtime. Overall bit rate Average overall bit rate of the camera. Contains the sent network traffic with protocol overhead. Data bit rate Average data bit rate of the camera. Contains the sent video, audio and metadata. Video bit rate Average data bit rate of the camera. Contains the sent video. Recording on Displays the IP address with target ID, LUN ID and block number used by the recording camera. Next block Displays the IP address with target ID, LUN ID and block number valid for the next active recording block. Stored data Displays the storage allocated by the camera. Min. retention time Displays the minimum retention time configured in Configuration Manager. Max. retention time Displays the maximum retention time configured in Configuration Manager. --- means infinite. Actual retention time Displays the retention time that is currently valid for the camera. LUN Usage Displays the IP addresses with target ID and LUN ID of the used drives with the amount of blocks used for recording and the amount of blocks that are allocated for future recording. Click an IP address to display the LUN page. Graphical display Displays the recording rate for a period of maximum 3 months. Event Log Displays errors, warnings, Information and debug information if activated on the camera. To filter the event log, select an entry in the Filter list. 7.9 Replay page CAUTION! Active connections Displays the count of iscsi sessions that are used on the iscsi target. Manufacturer Displays the manufacturer of the iscsi device that contains this iscsi target. Target Space Total Overall capacity on the iscsi target including all backup, read-only, and transient LUNs. Protected Used capacity of the manually protected blocks.
