7 SeeTec WebClient 1 SeeTec WebClient The SeeTec WebClient does not depend on a specific browser. The SeeTec WebClient only needs a PC with Microsoft Windows, Linux or Mac OS X that has an Internet connection. No additional video plug-ins must be installed on the SeeTec WebClient, since the SeeTec TranscodingEngine (STE) converts the image streams into the Motion JPEG format to display them on the SeeTec WebClient and makes them available on a web server. After logon, the user can access the live images and archive images of all cameras installed in the system for which he has user rights. In Surveillance Mode, the user can use layers to view images from different cameras simultaneously. The user can control PTZ cameras by using the buttons. The recording of single images to document incidents is also supported. With an instance of the SeeTec WebClient, the user can access several SeeTec Installations simultaneously. Figure 1: System overview 1

Each channel requires an RTSP port for communication between the SeeTec ApplicationGateway and the SeeTec TranscodingEngine. 7. Enter the port range to be used Configure SeeTec WebClient users It is recommended to create a separate user profile. The SeeTec TranscodingEngine converts the image stream of every displayed camera into a Motion JPEG format. The client adopts the displayed frame rate of the user profile. Thus, multi-streaming profiles with a low frame rate and resolution should be created on the cameras (see chapter Multi-streaming in the SeeTec User's Guide) to keep the load of the SeeTec TranscodingEngine as low as possible. Note The SeeTec WebClient can display a maximum of 12 images per second for each camera. You can configure higher frame rates in the client profile. However, the SeeTec TranscodingEngine forwards only 12 images per second. Lower frame rates are not increased. The maximum resolution in the SeeTec WebClient is 640x480. Higher resolutions will be scaled down, lower resolutions will be scaled up. As a rule the aspect ratio is kept. To display the alarm and the alarm images in the alarm list, the following conditions must be fulfilled: The SeeTec WebClient user is registered as involved person in the Client dialog of the Alarm scenario. The camera starts an alarm recording in the Server dialog of the Alarm scenario. 12
