GeoVision Setup Once all the settings for Windows are completed and you have all the hard drives setup you can install GeoVision. Start in order beginning with the drivers. When you install the drivers for your GeoVision DVR, it is recommended to remove the drivers first, and then install them. This helps insure that Windows did not try to (install its own driver)

Depending on which version of Windows you are installing GeoVision on you may be asked to continue, followed by some warnings. If you followed the steps for setting up windows you can pretty much ignore any messages from Windows about drivers not being loading correctly. The only time you will have an error about drivers not being installed correctly is if the card is not detected, at this point you will receive a message about Keypro not detected. After the drivers are loaded, install the DirectX 9.0c, once the drivers and DirectX 9 install has finished, go back to the main menu and install GeoVision main system. After you have the destination selected and monitor resolution size (use the defaults for both of these). GeoVision will reboot after the install is done. I have some screenshots that gives the basic settings for most installs. Note: Depending on the version of GeoVision that you are installing these screens may appear in a different order.

You should keep the GeoVision software separate from the drives you are using for storing the recorded data. As a good rule we install on the same drive as Windows. This setting can be adjusted later in the GeoVision setup, but it is better and less work to choose the correct monitor size now. You will see later on in this guide.

Choose the card that you physically have installed in your pc. Next you should have a message box asking if you want add GeoVision to your Windows Start group click yes. Then you have a message about a Remote Control unless you have the GeoVision hand held Remote Control click no. After this GeoVision will make some changes to your Windows Registry, then instruct you to reboot the computer. Once the computer reboots and GeoVision starts you need to setup your User name and Password

After you have your passwords selected and you are ready to move into setting up GeoVision. At this point you have to learn the basic controls of GeoVision. These are just a few of the icons on the main screen that you will use while setting up or operating GeoVision. There are going to be two icons you will use the most, the Start/Stop Monitoring and the Configuration icon. You cannot make any changes to the configuration of GeoVision while the system is monitoring the cameras. Keep in mind you will need to adjust you settings to meet your needs. This is the setup we use for new customer builds to get them started. Other Icons When you see this Icon, Clicking on it allows you to change all the cameras at once. This is helpful if you want all the cameras to record motion, or adjust the quality of the video on all the cameras. When you see this Icon, Clicking on it allows you to change certain settings for a specific area, like the Startup options.

Once you click on the Configuration icon you will see the following menu. Mouse over General Setting and we work our way to the System Configure. The System Idle Protection The System Idle Protection allows the Administrator to work on the system without worry of logout or leaving the system not recording anymore. If the Administrator does not press the mouse or press a key within a set period of time, the system will automatically log him/her out. Place a Check in the boxes for Auto Logout and Auto Monitoring Here it is set for Supervisor, PowerUser by using the drop down

Text Overlay Setting Setting Different Text Alignment for Each Channel You can align text overlay, photo overlay and camera/time stamps to different positions for each channel. In addition, you can even change the alignment of text and photograph while the monitoring of POS or access control keeps on. To access this feature, click the Configure button Point to General Setting, and Select Text Overlay Setting to display the Text Overlay Setting dialog box, and select one Camera to define various alignments. For details see Superimposing POS Data onto Camera Screen Select print on video file, and choose which alignment you want. After you have made your changes, click on the blue hand icon cameras to the same settings. this will set all the

Auto Reboot Setup The Auto Reboot feature restarts your Windows at a scheduled time. Click the Configure button Point to General Setting Select the Auto Reboot Setup from the menu, this dialog box appears. Auto Reboot System Enables the setup for reboot time. Specify how often (from 1 to 14 days) at the Day Interval selection field, and when the Windows should reboot at the Reboot Time. Restore Last Status: The system will resume the last operation after rebooting, e.g. camera recording. Apply Startup Settings: The system will apply your Startup settings in the System Configure window after rebooting. Delay for Cancel Reboot When the item is checked, a warning message will appear and count down your specified time before the reboot schedule begins. Clicking the Cancel button on the prompt will cancel the rebooting. Watchdog Reset if Reboot System Suspend and Fail Prior to Reboot Time, if GV-System finds any abnormal Windows operation that may hinder the Auto Reboot, GV-System will instruct a hardware reboot of Windows. The feature is not available in GV-250 Card. System Configure Click the Configure button point to the General Setting, and then select System Configure. This dialog box appears.

General Setting tab Here I broke up the screen into sections to make it easier to see the settings. The first settings we are making are for when GeoVision starts after a Windows reboot or power failure. Place a check in each of the following boxes I have circled. Start Monitor: enables GeoVision to start recording the cameras when the system starts. WebCam Server: Enables GeoVision to broadcast video over the Internet or LAN Startup Auto Login: Automatically logs GeoVision into a specified User.

Auto Startup Login After checking the boxes I have circled, click on the green triangle. This dialog box appears. Enter your User Name and Password.

Note: The User Name and Password you entered when installing GeoVision has the Administrator rights. It is recommended that you create a user account with limited rights to GeoVision, and use that for the Startup Auto Login. Video Log Storage Set Location To create a storage group:

Select Storage Group Folder. This dialog box appears. Click the Add Storage Group icon to add a storage group. The first Storage Group is created by default. Check the Cameras to be contained in the storage group. Check the Keep Days option and specify the number of days to keep the video files in storage. Click the Add New Path icon to specify a storage location. Check the Enlarge Recycle Threshold option and specify the size if you like to enlarge the default recycle size. Click OK. Recycle: When this option is selected, it will cause the oldest files to be deleted when the system requires storage space for new surveillance videos. If it is not selected, the system will stop recording when the disk space is full. The last few boxes to check on the System Configure dialog box Monitor Option:

Start Delay: Starts monitoring after X second(s) when the system is activated. Post-Rec Motion: Keeps on recording for a set period of time after motion stops. Pre-Rec Motion: records video for a set period of time before motion starts. Digital Watermark Protection: Digital watermarking is an additional digital marking that is placed to pre-specified frames. The only way to see the watermark is to use WMProof.exe that is place in the installation folder and on the backup folder, when creating a backup, file including the GeoVision Viewer. Camera Record Setting tab From the System Configure page click on the Camera Record Setting tab. This dialog box appears.

Several settings can be configured here: Camera Name The name entered here will appear in the upper-left hand corner of the camera screen. You can use the drop-down list to the select the camera to be configured. Rec control The Rec Control section allows you to set each camera s recording quality. The camera s recording quality is based on its resolution and compression rate. Higher-quality picture will require more storage space. Recording Quality: Allows you to adjust the video quality in 5 levels. The higher the number the lower the compression rate. Resolution Button:

This button is only available after you change the default video resolution. This is done in the A/V Setting under Video Source. Note: Changing the video quality and resolution add more strain to the CPU and bigger video files for the hard drive to store. Frame/Sec: Allows you to adjust a camera s recording frame rate. Three options available are Smart, High, and Low. Smart: The system distributes as many frame rates possible to the camera when motion occurs. High: The system distributes a high percentage of frames (not a definite number) selecting High ensures this camera always receives higher frame rate than the rest of the cameras. Low: The system distributes a low percentage of frames to the selected camera, allowing more frames to go to more important cameras. Frame Rate Button: Allows you to set the maximum recording frame of this camera, to save storage space.

Max. Frame Rate Rec of Motion: Allows you to set the maximum frame rate on motion detection. For example, if you set 10 frames/sec in the field, the camera will record 10 frames/second. Note: CPU load and other setting in Windows and GeoVision affect this setting. Max. Frame Rate Rec of Motion of Non-Motion for Economic Round-the-Clock: This option provides a space-saving solution for recording. Setting the max frame rate for nonmotion periods, to save as much storage space as possible. Motion Detection Motion detection is a combination of the camera(s) and the DVR software. A DVR monitors the camera(s) all the time, but does not record to a storage disk, until an action tells the DVR to record. The DVR needs to know when to record a specific camera(s), either by setting a camera to record continuously or by an event such as motion. For motion, the DVR scans the images from the camera and when a set number of the pixels in the camera(s) image change the DVR senses this as motion. The set number of pixels changes when you adjust the motion sensitivity per camera. Motion Sensitivity: There are 10 levels of sensitivity for motion detection, and sublevels from 9 to 9.9. the default is 9.5. The higher the value, the more sensitive the system is to motion. Mask Filter: Using a mask, instructs the system to ignore movement within the masked area. Generally, a mask is applied to an area where repetitive motion that should be ignored. Such as a tree or flag, even a road that you don t want to record. Noise Tolerance: This function reduces false alarms or unwanted recordings, caused by weather or light changes, without changing the video quality.

Monitor Control Rec Video: Enable the recording function. Use the drop-down list to select the desired recording mode: Motion Detect, Round-the-Clock, or Day/Night. Motion Detect: The system records when it detects motion on selected cameras. Round-the-Clock: The system records continuously on selected cameras. Day/Night: The system records on a set schedule that the user defines. Invoke Alarm: This option activates a computer alarm when the input is triggered. You may select the alarm type from the drop-down menu. Invoke to Send Alerts: This option sends out an assigned alert ( /Hotline/SMS) when the input is triggered. 1 st Right Arrow button: Appears when is assigned alert. Click to select the camera(s) to take a snapshot on input trigger. The snapshot will be sent out by 2 nd Right Arrow button: Click to set the delay time to activate assigned alerts. ( ,/Hotline/SMS) Output Module: When the input is invoked, the system will automatically send a signal to an output pin. Right Arrow button: Click to set the delay time to activate the assigned output module. Register Input Event: This option logs the alarm events into the System Log. Each event is labeled with ID, Time, device name (camera or I/O input), corresponding module of the device, and event for later retrieval. Note: The delay functions in Invoke to Send Alerts and Output Module allow you time to deactivate prior to enabling alerts and the output device. To deactivate these settings, you may stop

monitoring or enable the assigned input module set at Deactivate notification when selected pin ON" in I/O Application window Configuring WebCam Server GV-System is built-in web server. Click the Network button appears. the following menu Now select WebCam Server to display the following Server Setup dialog box. The Server Setup dialog box contains these tabs: General, Server, Video, SDK, Audio, JPG, 3GPP, Mobile and Multicast. WebCam Options Enhance network security: When this option is enabled, it is required to complete a word verification step every time when you log in the WebCam server.

Enable Remote Control: Check this item to use Remote Configuration and Enable/Disable I/O functions on WebCam. Run Viewlog Server: Check this item to enable the Remote ViewLog Service. This feature must be activated if you want to run remote playback through WebCam server or mobile phone application. Run Bandwidth Control Server: Check this item to enable the Bandwidth Control Server. SDK This feature is only used for SDK users to prevent overloading on slower networks. Max.
