Student must display good citizenship. Cosmopolitan Club Prize $500 Fred B. Stratton Family Memorial Award $100 Frederick T.& Elfrieda H. Jaffin Memorial Award $400 Marjorie E. Smith Memorial Award $100 Presented to an outstanding student in school activities, who sets an example for others to follow - Student should be an African-American student planning to go on to college who maintained a B+ average during his/her junior/senior years in high school. Presented to a Track Team member best displaying qualities of loyalty, reliability, team spirit, and conscientiousness throughout his/her athletic career. Presented to a student who has maintained a high scholastic average, who has participated in varsity athletics and has shown leadership qualities. Good citizenship is a requirement. To be awarded to a student with the highest academic record in French throughout the school. John Allen Mercaldo Memorial Scholarship $200 Presented to a graduate who is furthering his/her education in Music (preferably vocal). Deborah A. Huston Memorial Scholarship $100 Presented to a female graduating student who is pursuing higher education in Accounting or Law and who practices good citizenship. This student should be well respected by both faculty and peers. Preferably a student who will be entering Temple University. James Ozga Award $200 Senior Class Award $200 Presented to a graduating student who participated in the Vo-Tech School (Graphic Arts preferred), furthering his/her education in Vocational training or college and who has displayed community involvement. Financial need will be considered. Would prefer a student who attended Mattison Avenue Elementary School. Presented to a member of the graduating class who has participated in activities, contributed to the Senior Class, and who has maintained a good scholastic average. Student needs to be class officer.
2 Chris Angermann Memorial Award For Drama To be given to a student who has shown enthusiasm, dedication, and versatility in drama, whether on stage or behind the scenes. Someone who takes charge; does tasks $300/male without - being $300/female asked; helps others. Presented to a student of good character who displays qualities of artisanship, creativity, Frank G. Goelz Memorial Award $200 and performance in technology education. Presented to a student who has achieved a high scholastic average and has participated William F. McCann Scholastic & Activity Prize $250/male generally - $250/female in school activities. National Honor Society Presented to a student who exhibits leadership within the school and in the community; who is a positive role model for others and who works hard and to the best of his/her ability. Student should participate in school activities, maintain a high scholastic average, be well regarded by faculty and peers, and is not a member of the Honor $250/male Society. - $250/female Bruce D. Arnold Memorial Award Presented to a student who has participated in at least two sports (including Cheerleading) and who has demonstrated good sportsmanship and school spirit. $300/male Student - $300/female needs to have good academic achievement. Student must be accepted to an institution of higher learning. Student must be respected and held in high regard by his/ her peers and faculty; possess good to Woman's Club of Whitpain Scholarship $500 & $500 excellent academic achievement; displays good citizenship. Student Council Memorial Award $400 Presented to a member of the Student Council who has done most for the school via Council or Senate - who is highly regarded by faculty and peers and who is most active on behalf of student government. Rotary Club of Ambler Award $1,000 Presented to a member of the graduating class who has displayed outstanding service to school and/or community; who has achieved academic excellence and possesses leadership qualities. A student who is furthering his/her education..preferably a member of INTERACT. Montgomery Orthopedic Associates $500 Presented to an outstanding student - showing great interest and achievement during high school, and who desires to enter the Health field. Presented to a graduating student who has been accepted at a 4-year college majoring in Education. Who has been active in a least 3 school activities during his/her high school career; who is a positive representative of our school; is determined to perform his/her best and contribute to the success of others; is appreciative of the accomplishments of others and who portrays sensitivity to their needs. Student should maintain a B (or 3.0) average on the current grading scale. Financial need will be Colleen M. and William A. Romano Memorial Scholarship $1,000 considered.
3 Kiwanis Club of Ambler Award Presented to an active Key Club member with 2 years service with an average grade of "B" or above, and who participates in school and community affairs. Student must be $2,000 enrolled & $2,000 in a 4-year college. Presented to a student with leadership potential who has completed 300 hrs. volunteer work during his/her senior year - someone who gives a great deal of themselves, and Social Lab Award $2,000 has benefited from the experience. Presented to a student with good academic standing, who is furthering his/her education in a 4-year college. Student must be involved in team and individual activities; be outgoing; gets along easily with their peers and the staff and has a sense of humor. Student should have high personal values and live by them; be a leader and J.D. Calandra (Class of '88) Memorial Scholarship $4,015/female have a sensitivity - $4,015/male to community Given activities. over 3 years Presented to a student who is academically in the top 5% of the class. Must display good Donald T. Houpt Award $1,200 citizenship, awareness of others and have social consciousness. Eleanore B. Taylor Scholarship Award $1,000/male- Presented $1,000/female to the student who has achieved the highest scholastic average. Presented to a graduating senior who is an avid reader, talented writer and effective Donna Johnson Scholarship Award $400 public speaker. Candidate must exhibit school spirit. Musical Theater Scholarship $250 & $250 Recipient should have excelled in the Musical Theater Arts as a either singer, dancer, or actor and have shown enthusiasm and dedication to the Wissahickon High School musical productions. Wissahickon Band Parents Scholarship $500 Presented to a student furthering his/her education. A supportive member of the Marching Unit and its activities. A student who shows leadership ability, enthusiasm, positive overall attitude and who as participated at least 2 years in the Band. Joseph Pisch Memorial Scholarship Presented to a graduating student who is continuing his/her education, has participated in school activities, is highly regarded by faculty and peers, and who has achieved a good scholastic average. Is an enthusiastic good citizen, with high moral standards and who $500/financial demonstrates need constant $500/male progress Soccer and player initiative. Art Department of Wissahickon Scholarship $500 Timoney, Knox LLP Scholarship $1,000 Presented to a graduating senior who has demonstrated consistent and outstanding conceptual and artistic skills and who will further his/her education in the field of Art. Presented to a member of the graduating class who has demonstrated good citizenship, who has active involvement in civic and/or community affairs, has good academic achievement and is continuing his/her education in a four year college.
4 Blue Bell Rotary Presented to a student who exemplifies Service and Dependability. It is not necessary for the student to be in top academic percentage of class, but who is continuing his/her Thomas J. Cassidy Memorial Award $1,000/male education - $1,000/female (college or tech. training). Gabrielle Cauvin Memorial Scholarship $100 Ambler High School Class of 1953 Scholarship Award $500 Presented to a student who is furthering his/her education (college or training - preferably a Foreign Language major). Applicant should have overcome a physical (disability) or emotional (loss of a parent) hardship and be highly respected by peers. Student should be involved in school/community and must have a "B" average or better in junior/senior years. Presented to a student who has exhibited leadership, citizenship and who is respected by faculty and peers. Student should be furthering his/her education by going to college, nursing or vocational training. Financial need will be a considering factor. Presented to a student in good academic standing, of high moral character and who has community service. Student should be planning to attend Montgomery County Area 10 (Ambler, Lower Gwynedd & Whitpain) Republican Committee $500 Community Award College, be a good citizen and is not applying for other scholarships. Ten (10) awards presented to students who are ranked with the highest GPA and who are not applying for other scholarships or awards. Ten (10) awards presented to students who have the highest level of participation in WHS sports, clubs or other activities regardless of their GPA and who will not apply for other scholarships or awards. The PTC's intention is to recognize a broad range of students at the graduation Parent-Teacher Council Scholarship 20 X $100 ceremony. Art Scholarship from Woman's Club of Whitpain $500 Presented to a graduate pursuing a career in field of Art. Not limited to a student attending four year college or university. Student may pursue training through art classes from various art institutes or clinics. Tim Scheib Memorial Wrestling Scholarship $250 Presented to a wrestler who has displayed a strong work ethic, courage, leadership and good citizenship throughout his high school career. Raymond J. Campion, Jr. Memorial Scholarship $1,500 Presented to a graduating senior who is continuing his/her education in college, vocational, technical or trade school. A student of good character who has struggled to be at a point beyond where they started and who has demonstrated concern for others, possesses a friendly attitude. Financial need will be considered. Dr. Daniel D. Yun Scholarship $200 Presented to a graduating senior of good character.
5 Timothy D. Betterly Memorial Scholarship $300 Presented to a member of the Boys' Track & Field team. An athlete who is a leader by example, who exhibits hard work and competitiveness. Wissahickon Education Alliance Scholarship $2,000 A graduating senior pursuing a career in Education. Of high character and high academic standing. Future Business Leaders of America Scholarship $1,500 Terry O. Stoller Memorial Scholarship Fund $400 Peacemaking Endowment Award $250 Scholarship in Honor of Colleen Romano $1,400 Officer Richard Lawn Memorial Scholarship $1,000 Presented to a student with post high school studies in Business. Recipient must be a member of FBLA and be in the top 10% of his/her class. Recipient should be a leader in FBLA, Student Council or other club officer. Someone who does volunteer work. Presented to a graduating senior who excels in Music (primary criteria) or the Performing Arts and who will major in Music and/or the Performing Arts in college. Applicant should not be applying for other scholarships. To be given to graduate who has been an advocate for non-violence and/or peaceful resolution of conflict by participating in civilian peace activities, leadership in nonmilitary peace organizations, and/or advocacy for peace by speaking, writing or printed research of non-violence peaceful means of resolving conflict at the local, regional, national or international level. Student should be a leader and exhibit good citizenship and should have average or above average academic achievement. Presented to a graduate who is furthering his/her education and who is intending to major in Special Education. Presented to a graduate involved in team sports who is majoring in Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement. Student should be a mentor to other students. Recipients shall be selected based upon the demonstration during their high school careers of those attributes which reflect the ideals of Rotary including community and international service, scholastic achievement, leadership potential and character as well Rotary Club of Ambler John L. and Helen B. Shoemaker Award$7,000 as & need. $7,000 Members and dependents of Rotary Club of America not eligible. Presented to a student with a high level of participation in high school string activities, including a high level of performance skill; achievements in string music studies, such as first chair playing in ensembles, audition successes, solo and chamber music honors. Student should exhibit a resourceful and cooperative demeanor in the school music Dorothy Tobin Excellence in String Music Award $100 environment.
6 Ambler Area Running Club Scholarship $500 Presented to a graduating Cross Country or Track athlete whose dedication, enthusiasm, and achievements have represented the best aspects of the sport of running. To a runner who has competed for at least two years in XC or track, who is continuing his/her education in any manner (4 year/2year/technical or vocational (full or part-time)), and who has demonstrated enthusiasm for running, sportsmanship, teamwork, good citizenship. Athlete should have reached the maximum of their potential and have a good academic standing. Given to a graduating male and a female who have demonstrated both awareness and a willingness to act on global issues, social/economic justice, and/or environmental conservation. Students should be: (1) accepted to an accredited 2 or 4 year college; (2) be of good character; (3) demonstrate some financial need; (4) maintain a GPA of 3.0 Wissahickon Democrats Good Citizenship Award $250/$250 male/female or better. Student must have participated two years in a community service club (SADD) which promotes a drug-free and alcohol-free life. Student should be a member of Student Council with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Awarded to an advanced placement English student who excels at class discussion, shows exceptional insight into literature and language and stimulates the thinking of teachers and classmates. Bower, Horton, Sherman Memorial Scholarship Presented to a student who has been accepted to an accredited 2 or 4 year institution of higher learning or vocational school. Student must be a resident of Ambler/Penllyn, have an outgoing personality, be a good citizen within the high school and community $100 each - male environment female with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Financial need will be considered. Cheri Parsons Commemorative Scholarship $500 Wissahickon Educational Opportunities Fund Award $500 Presented to a graduating senior who has demonstrated consistent and outstanding conceptual and artistic skills and who will further his/her education in the field of Art. Awarded to a graduating senior who has excelled in community service throughout his/her high school career. Student should be someone who has worked to their ability and is conscientious and reliable. Student should have good academic standing.
7 Ebony Dorsey Memorial Scholarship $500 Awarded to a female student with a positive attitude, who is dedicated to academics with an interest in the Performing Arts. Student should be respected by peers and have shown perseverance through adversity and positively impacting the community. Student should have a GPA of 3.0 or better and planning to attend an institution of higher learning. Lynne Patterson Memorial Scholarship $1,000 Awarded to a well-rounded, people-oriented student who loves literature and intends to major in English or Journalism in college with the goal to become a teacher. This graduate should be a role model to others and well-liked by his/her peers. Two awards: One to be presented to a Cross Country female and one to be given to a Track and Field female. Each should exhibit leadership qualities and excellent sportsmanship, initiate independent practice, support and encouragement of team mates, be recognized by the coaching staff (not necessarily the most outstanding athlete, but one giving an outstanding effort). Athlete should exhibit good school/team citizenship; be respectful and polite; consistently eligible for varsity participation with Michael Walker Memorial Track Scholarship $1,000/female good XC academic $1,000/female achievement. TRK & Field Financial will be given some consideration. Arthur R. Driedger Commemorative Scholarship $1,000 Awarded to a student who best demonstrates both leadership and ability in the social sciences and who exhibits a love of history and nature. Katie O'Donnell Scholarship $500 Frances (Boo) Crofton Memorial Scholarship $1,000 Scholarship in Honor of Gabrielle Cauvin $2,000 Presented to a female athlete who displays teamwork, both positive and supportive; leadership (leading by example); and is a positive role model for others. Student must have a GPA of 3.0 or better with no disciplinary referrals. Presented to a student who has made notable contributions to the community either the WSD community or the community at large; has through action and example promoted a positive relationship between groups in our diverse school population; and who plans a career of service in Social Work or Education Awarded to a student pursuing higher education in either college (2 or 4 years), technical or vocational school. Student should have a GPA of 2.5 or better, and exhibit good school citizenship. Financia lwill be a consideration. Scholarship will be sent directly to school upon verification of registration.

Must be a resident of Ambler/Penllyn, have an outgoing personality, be a good citizen within the high school and community environment with a GPA of 2.5 or better. Financial need will be considered. Awarded to a student who has been accepted to an accredited university or college pursuing a career in the field of Medicine. Student should exhibit good school citizenship and have participated in community/school volunteer service with an organization involved in a related field of interest. Student should have a GPA of 3.5 or better - some financial need consideration will be given. Award will be given directly to college/university. Awarded to a student who has been accepted to an accredited university or college pursuing a career in Nursing. Student should exhibit good school citizenship and have participated in community/school volunteer service with an organization involved in a related field of interest. Financial need will be a considering factor. Awarded to a student who writes the best essay entitled "What the Constitution Means to Me." Students to work through their Social Studies class with essays reviewed by Social Studies faculty. Top three (3) essays will be given to the Tea Party for final Blue Bell Tea Party Patriots Award 500 decision. Betty J. Ballard Scholarship 2,000 Kishan Memorial Award 100 Awarded to a student who is a member of a minority group, who has a GPA of 2.75 or better. Preference given to students majoring in Math or Science. Criteria includes two (2) letter of reference (in sealed envelopes by person providing the reference) - One (1) from a teacher/school official and one (1) personal reference - not a family member: a personal statement no more than 250 words: official school verification of cumulative GPA in sealed envelope Awarded to a student with high academic achievement.
