1 College of Health and Human Development These scholarships have been established to assist students majoring in programs offered by the College of Health and Human Development. Note: The notification process does not include a notification to all applicants but only to the selected recipient(s) of the scholarship. The expected date of notification is the end of May. Alumni Association Scholarship for the College of Health and Human Development Amount: Two at $500 each (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship was established and funded by the Cal State Fullerton Alumni Association to recognize students who have demonstrated strong academic performance in the College of Health and Human Development. In addition, this scholarship recognizes leadership and service within the college. Open to: This scholarship is open to continuing majors in the College of Health and Human Development who are pursuing an undergraduate at Cal State Fullerton. Criteria: Academic achievement Good academic standing Leadership Co-curricular activities Service to academic department or College of Health and Human Development answering all 7 questions and sign the certification; 2) Provide a résumé documenting leadership positions held within the College or the University (e.g., clubs, organizations, InterClub Council) and 3) If receiving Financial Aid, attach a copy of your award to the application. Submit your application to the College of Health & Human Development, EC 606. College of Health and Human Development-Scholarship Amount: $500 for undergraduate award and $500 for graduate award (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship was established and funded by the College of Health and Human Development to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated strong academic performance and leadership to the College.

2 Open to: This scholarship is open to continuing majors in the College of Health and Human Development who are pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree, and who have not previously received a College award. One award at each level after one semester of enrollment at Cal State Fullerton. Criteria: Full-Time Enrollment minimum 3.0 GPA College, Departmental or Community Service Participation or Leadership Financial Need all 7 questions and sign the certification; 2) Provide a résumé documenting leadership positions held within the College or the University (e.g., clubs, organizations, InterClub Council) and 3) If receiving Financial Aid, attach a copy of your award to the application. Submit your application to the College of Health & Human Development, EC 606. Timothy S. Ray Scholarship Fund Amount: $500 (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship is funded by the parents of Timothy S. Ray to honor his memory and to assist students who are preparing for a career in the helping professions. Open To: This scholarship is open to continuing full-time juniors and seniors majoring in Human Services or Child Development at Cal State Fullerton. Criteria: Scholastic achievement Financial need Community service activities answering all 7 questions and sign the certification; 2) Provide a résumé documenting leadership positions held within the College or the University (e.g., clubs, organizations, InterClub Council) and 3) If receiving Financial Aid, attach a copy of your award to the application. Submit your application to the College of Health & Human Development, EC 606. Child and Adolescent Studies Dedication to Children, Adolescents, and/or Families in International Contexts

3 Established by: The award recognizes individual dedication to service, scholarship, and/or professional development in international settings. The award may be for either volunteer or dedication above the required level in an international practicum course or study abroad experience. Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors. Criteria: Activities connected to service, scholarship, and/or professional development in international settings; Impact on professional development; volunteer or above and beyond component Application Procedure: 1) Complete the application packet available in mid-spring from the Department of Child and Adolescent Studies, EC-503, (657) In addition to the application, submit an application packet that includes 1) letter of reference from a person who can speak to your qualifications for this award; and 2) written narrative discussing your activities connected to service, scholarship and/or professional development in international settings; clearly reference the volunteer component and explain how related efforts went above and beyond course requirements. Finally, discuss how you anticipate outcomes associated with your international activities will impact your ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, and/or families in professional contexts in the U.S. or abroad. James Gilmore Outstanding Senior Child and Adolescent Studies Student Established by: The James Gilmore Outstanding Senior Award recognizes a senior level student in Child and Adolescent Studies who exemplifies the highest standards of scholarship, service to the community and/or university, and commitment to education. Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors who have attained senior status by completing 90 units. McLaren Award for the Arts in Child Development Established by: The Althea B. McLaren Award for the Arts in Child Development recognizes creative implementation of art instruction and/or production in working with children and youth. Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors.

McLaren Award in Children s Moral Development Established by: The Robert B. McLaren Award in Children s Moral Development distinguishes a Child and Adolescent Development major who made contributions in scholarship or practice related to the moral education or character development of children and/or adolescents. This is demonstrated through (1) a relevant scholarly and creative work and/or (2) the implementation of a special program that fosters moral education or character among children or youth in a child-care setting, organized youth group, religious institution, or school. Open To: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors. Criteria: 3.0 GPA 3.2 GPA in major Demonstrated skills in research using interdisciplinary methods Program implementation Application Procedure: 1) Complete the application packet available in mid-spring from the Department of Child and Adolescent Studies, EC-503, (657) Outstanding Junior Child and Adolescent Studies Student Established by: The Outstanding Junior Award recognizes a junior level student in Child and Adolescent Studies who exemplifies the highest standards of scholarship, service to the community and/or university, and commitment to education. Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors who have attained junior status by completing 60 units. 5 Outstanding Lower Division Child and Adolescent Studies Student Established by: The Outstanding Lower Division Student Award recognizes the freshman or sophomore level student in Child and Adolescent Studies who exemplifies the highest standards of scholarship, service to the community and/or university, and commitment to education. Open to: This scholarship is open to current Child and Adolescent Development majors who are freshmen or sophomores. Open to: This scholarship is open to graduate majors in the Health Science Department who have completed at least 6 units toward their advanced degree. Criteria: Outstanding academic achievement Community/university service Professional promise Nomination by faculty Application Procedure: By faculty nomination only Human Services Gerald and Marianne Corey Scholarship Amount: $150 (may vary with funding) Established by: This scholarship was established by the Human Services Department to recognize scholastic promise and financial need. The Human Services faculty determines the recipient. Open to: This scholarship is open to juniors in the Human Services Program. Criteria: Scholastic promise Financial need the certification; 2) Complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), or have one on file, for establishing financial need; and 3) Submit the application to the Human Services Department, EC-405, (657)

9 Dr. Sandra Russell Group Leadership Award Amount: $100 (may vary with funding) Established by: This memorial scholarship is sponsored by the Human Services Association, Human Services Department and Dr. J. Michael Russell. Dr. Sandra Russell contributed to the training of group leaders from 1983 to 1993 and this scholarship was created in memory of what she inspired. Open to: This scholarship is open to current students who have been or wish to be group leaders for any of the Human Services 300 Character and Conflict classes. Criteria: CSUF GPA Financial need Career goals Campus/community activities the certification; 2) Include a statement which addresses: a) your financial need, b) CSUF GPA, c) Career interests/goals, d) Current campus or community activities related to human services, e) An assessment of your experience as a group leader; and 3) Submit application packet to Dr. J. Michael Russell in EC 405. Human Services Department Scholarship Amount: $500 Established by: This scholarship was established to recognize and honor students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and dedication to the field of human services. Additional funds to this scholarship will at times be provided by Titan Shops. Open to: This scholarship is open to graduating seniors in the Human Services major who are pursuing an undergraduate degree. Criteria: Scholastic Achievement Professional Promise Community Service the certification; 2) Attach your typed resume; 3) Provide one letter of recommendation from CSUF faculty; and 4) Submit application materials to EC-405, (657) Beverly and Arnold Miller University Scholarship in Gerontology Amount: $1,000 for students enrolled in 6-8 units and $1,500 for students in at least 9 units (6 to 8 awards)

10 Established by: This scholarship is an endowed program established by Beverly and Arnold Miller to provide support to students who are pursuing careers in Gerontology. Awards are given annually with the opportunity to be renewed with demonstrated recipient accomplishments. Finalists may be asked to participate in an interview. Open to: This scholarship is open to upper division and graduate students with a declared minor, emphasis, or concentration in gerontology, older adult health/wellness or a related area. Criteria: Academic achievement Professional promise Demonstrated interest in a career in older adult health/wellness or a related area the certificate; 2) Include with the application a list of Gerontology-related courses taken and grades received; 3) Prepare a typed essay of approximately 250 words describing interest and potential for a career in Gerontology or related area; 4) Obtain two letters of recommendation (at least one letter from a CSUF faculty member); and 5) Submit application and materials to Coordinator, Gerontology Academic Program Office, Ruby Gerontology Center, RGC-8 Kinesiology Department Kinesiology Department Undergraduate Scholarship Amount: $ (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship was established by the Department of Kinesiology to honor scholastic achievement and service. A student may only be awarded this scholarship once. Open to: This scholarship is open to returning undergraduate majors in the Kinesiology and Athletic Training majors who have completed at least 15 units in major course work. Criteria: Outstanding university and/or community service Application Procedure: By faculty nomination only Application Deadline: March 3 Nursing Maria Dolores Hernandez Fund Amount: $1,000 $5,000 (subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship is named for Maria Dolores Hernandez, who was a nursing leader in Orange County and an officer in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years. Open to: This scholarship is open to students who have been admitted to the CSUF Nursing Program. Stephanie passed away just after commencement in May Her BSN was awarded posthumously. Open to: This scholarship is open to prelicensure BSN students who have completed at least two semesters in the CSUF nursing program (not in the final semester). Application Deadline: Spring Titan Shops Scholarship Amount: $100 - $500 ( 1 to 2 scholarships, subject to funding) Established by: This scholarship was established by the Titan Shops and administered by the School of Nursing Open to: This scholarship is open to continuing nursing students who have completed at least two semesters in the CSUF nursing program. Criteria: Background information Nursing student who has completed at least two semesters in the CSUF nursing program (not in the final semester) 3.0 Demonstrated need Application Procedure: 1) Complete application follow instructions for submission; and 2) Write a 500 word essay. 15 Roy Lopez Scholarship for Valor Amount: $2,500 (2 awards) Established by: This scholarship was endowed by Ms. Adriana Mraz and family established in memory of Roy Anthony Lopez, who was a cadet in the CSUF Titan Battalion. The scholarship will be awarded during the CSUF Army ROTC Ceremony in May of each year. Open to: This scholarship is open to all Military Science cadets of California State University Fullerton in their Junior or Senior year. Criteria: Full-Time Enrollment 3.0 GPA Financial Need/Hardship Must live the Army values and demonstrate exceptional Officership Community Service Activities Exemplary 500-word Essay the certification; 2) Write an essay (no more than 500 words) about what it means to you to become an Army Officer. Describe any personal, academic or physical hardship that you have overcome on your way towards becoming an Army Officer. Discuss the process on how you conquered the situation and the factors that motivated you to move on. Write about the personal achievements, community service and examples of selfless service in helping your fellow cadets. Describe your educational and career goals and elaborate on how the scholarship award will assist in achieving your goal of becoming an Army Officer; 3) Submit an Unofficial Transcript; 4) Submit completed application(s) and materials (if required) to MS-103 or call (657) ; and 5) If selected for an award, possibly have a face to face interview with the selection committee. William McGarvey Scholarship Amount: $400 (4 awards) Established by: This scholarship was established by Mr. William McGarvey in honor of Ms. Carol Wise who have liked the ROTC cadets because of their politeness and respectfulness. The scholarship will be awarded during the CSUF Army ROTC Award Ceremony in May of each year. Open to: This scholarship is open to all Military Science Reserved Officer cadets of California State University Fullerton. Criteria: Full-Time Enrollment Ranked by peers and faculty according to the following: For Living the 7 Army Values, Outstanding Service to the Community, Spirit of Teamwork, Dedication to the CSUF Army ROTC Program Application Procedure: By Military Science Faculty nomination only Nomination Deadline: April 4

16 Army ROTC Scholarships Amount: Two and three year scholarship options based on the time remaining to complete your degree; 5 year engineering scholarships available. Full tuition or $10,000 a year for room and board, and tax free monthly stipend from $300 up to $500 a month; $1,200 a year book allowance. Established by: United States Army ROTC: Through classes and field training, Army ROTC provides you with the tools to become an Army Officer without interfering with your other classes. ROTC also provides you with discipline and money for tuition while enhancing your college experience. Open to: This scholarship is open to new and continuing CSUF students of all majors that are pursuing an undergraduate or a graduate degree.
