1 COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES SCHOLARSHIPS CAS SCHOLARSHIPS Bachelor of Integrative Studies Endowed Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students majoring in the Bachelor of Integrative Studies Program. The recipient shall have a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of application. Preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need CAS Dean's Legacy Annual Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students majoring in any program in the College of Arts and Sciences. Recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA and have completed 30 credit hours at the time of application. Financial need is not a criterion. Ferris and Jean Leach Biology, Mathematics and Physical Sciences Endowed Scholarship This endowed scholarship provides funding to students enrolled in Biology, Mathematics and Physical Sciences research projects to enhance educational experiences through the provision of equipment, instrumentation, and support of student participation. Award varies. Jim Farrell Memorial Endowed Scholarship Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time students in the second year of an associate degree program in the College of Arts and Sciences with the intention of pursuing a bachelor s degree program in one of the University s Colleges. Applicants shall have earned a 3.0 or above GPA. Michigan Office Solutions College of Arts & Sciences Annual Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time or part-time undergraduate students majoring in any program in the College of Arts and Sciences. Applicants shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Financial need is not a criterion. Vanderlaan Leadership Endowed Scholarship This scholarship is available for all Arts & Sciences majors at any grade level. Students must be full-time, have a minimum 2.0 grade point average, and demonstrate leadership ability. DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES Big Rapids Garden Club Annual Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students who are majoring in the Environmental Biology Program. The recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Biology Department Faculty and Staff Annual Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students majoring in any program in the Department of Biological Sciences. Recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Financial need is not a criterion. Faculty-Sponsored Student Development Endowed Scholarship Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students majoring in Biology/Environmental Biology in the Department of Biological Sciences, with a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of application. Preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need. Grandchildren of the Robert Friar Annual Science Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate and/or graduate students majoring in any natural science or health science program, such as the programs of Pre-Optometry, Pre-Medical, or Pre-Pharmacy in the College of

2 Arts and Sciences or any programs in the College of Health Professions, the College of Pharmacy, or the Michigan College of Optometry. The applicants shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application and preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need. Helen Ferris Vartan Biology Endowed Scholarship Applicants for this scholarship must have obtained at least sophomore grade level and have a minimum 3.25 GPA. Applicant must be making normal progress toward the Bachelor of Science Degree in Applied Biology. John Newell Memorial Endowed Scholarship Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students majoring in the Biology program and have a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of application. Candidates must have demonstrated academic achievement and the personal qualities of courage, optimism and leadership. Preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need. Kenneth Spoerk Memorial Endowed Scholarship Given annually to an outstanding student, who has demonstrated a high scholastic ability, an interest in science, and excellence in the courses of bacteriology. Michigan Garden Clubs Annual Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students who are majoring in the Environmental Biology Program. Recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need. Richard Hunter Environmental Endowed Scholarship Applicants for this scholarship must be a full-time undergraduate student, with a minimum 2.5 GPA for at least two semesters at Ferris State University. Preference will be given to students with a declared major of BS Biology-Environmental Biology. However, all majors will be considered. Recipient will be required to work 150 hours per academic year at Recycle Mecosta County (RMC). Robert and Frances Friar Endowed Scholarship Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students in their second, third or fourth year, majoring in any area of Biology, who has demonstrated drive, motivation, and commitment to success. Preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need and shall have a minimum of 3.25 GPA at the time of application. DEPARTMENT OF HUMANITIES Brian Tomczyk Memorial Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students who have been admitted to the Teacher Education Program, majoring in History Education. The scholarship shall be awarded to a student with a minimum 2.75 GPA at the time of application. The donor desires that when awarding this scholarship special consideration be given for students who can demonstrate involvement in social justice issues. Charles Hampton Memorial Endowed Scholarship Applicants must be fully matriculated students in good standing who have achieved a minimum of sophomore status and are active participants in the debate, forensics or drama program at the University. Financial need is an important criterion for selection. Dacho and Ruth Dachoff Outstanding Musician Endowed The award shall be given to a full-time or part-time undergraduate or graduate student who has participated in the Music Area for a minimum of three semesters as: 1)a member of the concert/symphonic bands as a brass, percussion or woodwind player; or 2) a member of the orchestra as a string player. Participation in an Athletic Pep Band as a wind or percussion player is not a requirement, but can be a factor to consider.

3 Dr. William Sakalauskas Endowed Scholarship Applicants for the scholarship must be full-time students in good academic standing with a 3.0 GPA in their program and eligible to participate in the Ferris Theater. Applicants for the scholarship must conduct themselves as ambassadors of the Ferris Theater, on campus and in their communities. Howard Hulsman Endowment Scholarship The applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 and be a member of the debate team. The applicant must possess leadership abilities and commitment to the advancement of the debate program. Susan and Ernest Wenger Endowed Scholarship Applicant must be a full-time student and an active member of the West Central Concert Band or other Ferris performing instrumental music program. William Donahue Vocal Music Endowed Scholarship The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time vocal musician student who has demonstrated loyalty and leadership while participating in a University vocal music ensemble. The recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Financial need is not a criterion. William & Marjorie Linebaugh Scholarship * Students wishing to be considered for this scholarship must be a full-time or part-time student majoring in Communication, with a GPA of 2.5 or better, with preference to those with demonstrated financial need (FAFSA required). DEPARTMENT OF LANGUAGES and LITERATURE Helen Popovich Endowed Scholarship for Academic Excellence Applicants shall be full-time or part-time undergraduate students who have attained junior or senior academic status. The scholarship will be awarded to a student whose GPA is 3.5 or better the semester preceding selection. Financial need shall be a determining criterion. Jerry Jourdain Endowed Memorial Scholarship Applicants shall have demonstrated high scholastic ability (3.0 honor point average). Reginald & Vivian Sharkey Endowed Scholarship Applicants must be from Mecosta, Osceola, Emmet or Charlevoix counties and enrolled in their sophomore, junior or senior year of the Technical and Professional Communication program in the College of Arts and Sciences. DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS Allen Puterbaugh Endowed Scholarship Applicants shall have a 3.25 GPA in all courses taken in high school and must be a high school graduate. Applicants must also be enrolled in either the Applied Mathematics or Mathematics Education degree program upon entering Ferris. John Ladd Memorial Mathematics Annual Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time junior or senior undergraduate students majoring in any Bachelor Degree Program in Mathematics or the Secondary Mathematics Education Program. Applicant shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Financial need is not a criterion. Helen Ferris Vartan Mathematics Endowed Scholarship Applicants for this scholarship must be in an Applied Mathematics or Mathematics major, have a minimum 3.5 GPA in Arts and Sciences courses, and have completed 80 credit hours.

4 Mathematics Faculty and Staff Annual Scholarship * The applicant shall be a full-time or part-time undergraduate student majoring in Applied Mathematics or Mathematics. The applicant shall have a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of application. Preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need. Sarangapani Mukundan Annual Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time or part-time undergraduate students majoring in Mathematics. Applicants shall have a minimum 2.0 GPA at the time of application. Weller Family Annual Scholarship * Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students majoring in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or seeking certification in Mathematics Education. Recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need, as determined by the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICAL SCIENCES Charles and Mary Bacon Annual Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students majoring in Chemistry. Recipients shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA of 3.0 at the time of application. Preference shall be given to students who demonstrate financial need. Dr. Henry Reitz Endowment Scholarship Applicants must be enrolled as a full-time junior or senior level student in the Bachelor of Arts programs in Chemistry or Biochemistry offered by the College of Arts & Sciences. Applicants shall have earned a 3.0 or above GPA. Financial need may be considered but is not a determining criterion. Norman G. Peterson Industrial Chemistry Technology Annual Scholarship Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students majoring in Industrial Chemistry Technology or Chemistry. Recipient shall have a minimum 2.5 GPA at the time of application. Physical Sciences Faculty and Staff Annual Scholarship * Applicants shall be full-time undergraduate students majoring in Biochemistry, Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry Technology. Applicants shall have a minimum 2.5 GPA at the time of application. The donors desire that when awarding this scholarship, special consideration should be given for students who have overcome obstacles such as socioeconomic or educational disadvantage or disabilities, or who are the first generation in their family to attend college. Preference shall be given to eligible students who demonstrate financial need. DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SCIENCES and SOCIAL WORK Honorable John P. O'Brien Memorial Endowed Scholarship This scholarship assists second year pre-law students who have a 3.25 GPA or higher. The award is based on the student s unmet need. Karen D. Boochard Social Work Scholarship Applicant must be a full-time student majoring in Social Work with a 2.0 minimum GPA and must have graduated from the Big Rapids, Evart, Reed City, Charter Crossroads Academy, Chippewa Hills, Morley/Stanwood school districts or the Mecosta-Osceola Intermediate School District. Leon & Jerena Keys Family Endowed Scholarship Applicants shall be full-time/part-time students, with preference being given to a student who is pursuing a psychology degree. The scholarship shall be awarded based on financial need.

5 Paul Winfred Owens Memorial Book Scholarship * Applicants shall be full and/or part-time undergraduate students majoring in Social Work, with a minimum 2.75 GPA at the time of application. Preference shall be given to applicants that have graduated from a public school within the Grand Rapids, Flint, or Detroit school districts. Rex Dew Memorial Textbook Scholarship * Applicants shall be enrolled in the BSW Social Work Program and have demonstrated financial need. Recommendation from a Social Work faculty member is required. Past or present involvement in extracurricular or voluntary activities is desirable. Samuels Family Annual Scholarship * The scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time undergraduate senior student who is majoring in the Social Work Program within the College of Arts & Sciences. The recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA at the time of application. Smith, Taylor, Malloy Endowed Scholarship This scholarships will be awarded to a student with a minimum 2.70 GPA who is entering their senior year of a Bachelor s in Social Work.
