3 MISSION STATEMENT Lakeland Regional High School, a New Jersey Star School in partnership with the community, provides an exemplary comprehensive education that develops all students to be knowledgeable, responsible citizens in a global environment. HIGHLIGHTS The only state-recognized comprehensive high school Star School in Passaic County Lakeland Regional High School has met Annual Measurable Objectives (AMO) in all 41 categories as defined by the New Jersey Department of Education. Identified as a High Performing School District by the New Jersey Department of Education RECIPIENT OF THREE NEW JERSEY BEST PRACTICE AWARDS A state-designated Best Practice award for the Technology Education program A state-designated Best Practice award for the E.R.A.S.E. (End Racism and Sexism Everywhere) club A community-developed Strategic Plan that provides a vision for the district's future and drives curriculum and facilities initiatives Class of 2014 High School Proficiency Assessment (HSPA) performance Language Arts (pass rate) 98% Mathematics (pass rate) 94% Students passed either the HSPA or the Alternative High School Assessment (AHSA) 100% Statistics from the Class of 2014 * 94% went on to post secondary education * 2 & 4 Year Colleges 85% Career / Technical Schools 7.3% Employment 4% Military 1.82% Other 2.19% Class of 2014: 2 PSAT/NMSQT Commended Students In Top 20 Most Improved schools in 2012 by NJ Monthly Ranked 80 th in the state of New Jersey in 2012 by NJ Monthly The School Counseling Department received acknowledgment in 2013 as a nationally recognized ASCA Model Program (RAMP), and is the only school in New Jersey to hold this title.

4 ACADEMICS A highly diverse curriculum delivered in eighty-minute classes in an alternating day (A/B) format Opportunities for students to be challenged by a variety of Advanced Placement (14), Honors (15), College credit bearing courses (5) through Syracuse University, Seton Hall University & PCCC ($180 - $440 per class) Robust college preparatory curriculum in all academic areas provides students with the core foundation to perform successfully in the most highly selective colleges. Academic offerings at Applied, Academic & Honors levels to meet the needs of all students *Pathways to College & Career is a freshman requirement which teaches self exploration, career exploration and planning, and study skills.* A distinguished band and vocal music program ATHLETICS Highly competitive interscholastic athletic teams achieving conference, county and state championships 6-time winner of the prestigious NJSIAA Sportsmanship Award The Lakeland athletic program offers a wide array of opportunities for all students with 29 interscholastic varsity teams and a total of 65 teams including junior varsity and freshmen levels. Each year our graduating student athletes attend the finest colleges and universities with some earning NCAA Division I & II athletic scholarships. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES A diverse set of over 50+ clubs and extracurricular programs to choose from open to all students! In the current school year 800+ students are involved in clubs and activities. Peer Mediation (conflict resolution), S.W.A.P. (Speak with a Peer), S.W.A.N. (Speak with a Newbie) & L.E.A.P. (Leaders Encouraging Adolescent Progress) programs where students mentor underclassmen and students transferring into the district SPECIAL EDUCATION PROGRAMS & SERVICES The Lakeland Regional School District offers a continuum of educational programs for our students who qualify for special education which include: resource center, in-class support, autistic classrooms, behavior disability classrooms, and a multiply disabled classroom. L.E.A.R.N. program (Lakeland Educational Autism Resource Network), P.I.N.N.A.C.L.E. program (Pupils In Need of Nurturing and Creative Learning Experience), and the C.O.R.E. program (Community Outreach Resource Education) The goal of Lakeland Regional High School is to provide educationally disabled students with an appropriate placement within the least restrictive environment.

5 SCHOOL COUNSELING PROGRAMS & SERVICES Experienced counselors who aid students with admissions to college, technical school, career education, academic advising, social / emotional counseling, and the School to Career initiative College & Career Services which include the College & Career Fair, Onsite College Admissions Day, Financial Aid Night, and Career Day 4-year planning and junior student/parent conferences 9 th Grade Transition Program (CONNECTIONS) Senior Options Program: School to Work, Senior Internship, Dual Enrollment & Community Service *Pathways to College & Career is a freshman requirement which teaches self exploration, career exploration and planning, and study skills.* FACILITIES Six networked computer labs and a Media Center with high speed internet access Opportunities for students to explore a variety of career options utilizing high tech equipment as part of the math, science, business, and technology education programs Faculty Pages are available on our district website for students and parents to view a week at a glance of all homework, tests and quizzes. Student / Parent Portal which provides the opportunity to see a student s grades, absences and tardies in real time Our web site at disseminates school-wide information, curriculum information, announcements and communications to the community.
