The amount of support gven by unversty staff was also very much apprecated. The subjects covered gradually bult up our knowledge base for each subject area over the three years; I studed databases and web desgn n all three years, as well as some form of system desgn and codng, and I'm pretty confdent that I now have the sklls to be a software engneer. 22 I ve always wanted to desgn vdeo games snce I was a kd. It s a lot of hard work but when you see people enjoyng somethng you ve helped create, t makes t all worthwhle. I found the art for vdeo games course was the perfect envronment for me to acheve my goals. The course was open enough that t let me concentrate on the areas of study I wanted to and the lecturers crtqued my work and pushed me to teach myself more and mprove as an artst. Despte havng no ndustry experence when I started the course, the unversty helped me start my own games studo, offerng fundng and busness tranng through ther entrepreneural support team. 20 Whle I was studyng I was able to obtan clent work and merge t seamlessly wth my degree, so I ddn't have to choose between my degree and my professonal work.
