Heartland Intergroup is looking for an Answering Service Committee Chairperson to coordinate taking the 12 step answering service to a full time after office hours volunteer service work function. If interested please call the Office Manager at or to officemanager@heartlandintergroup.org. Chair needed for Corrections Committee: 2 years minimum sobriety. Attend Area Quarterly meetings. Hold monthly meetings of Corrections committee and report activities to District Committee. Actively solicit and screen volunteers to chair meetings in correction facilities. 9 2015 international Convention-atlanta 80 years 2015 INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION COUNTDOWN Before you know it, thousands of A.A.s will gather together to celebrate A.A s. Birthday in Atlanta,, Georgia, July 2-5, Excitement continues to build and the local volunteer host committee is ready to roll out the mega welcome mat for members from around the world who will join in the celebration, 80 Years Happy, Joyous and Free!! There is still time to make plans. Registration for the 2015 International Convention remains open throughout the Convention. There is plenty of room at the Georgia World Congress Center t welcome all registered attendees the hundreds of A. A. Meetings that will occur and the is ample seating the the Georgia Dome for the Big Meetings that place on Friday and Saturday evening and the Sunday morning Closing Meeting. But don t forget the Party in the Park on Thursday night in Centennial Olympic Park to kick off Convention activities! Hotel rooms are still available in Atlanta and outlying areas through the Convention Housing Bureau. There will be bus shuttles or access to a MART station from hotels booked through the Convention Housing Bureau. We continue to expand these to meet the needs of our attendees. Dorms have been added to our housing mix for those who are interested in lower room rates and information can e access through a link on the housing pages from out website. These are available on a firs-come, first-served basis, and reservations must be done directly through the dorm facility, The dorm apartments are conveniently located at Georgia State University and Georgia Tech in Atlanta. S WEBSITE One of the highlights of each International Convention is the parade of flags of those countries represented at the Convention, which takes place at the Opening Meeting on Friday evening Over the 2015 convention weekend, unlimited access to an encrypted, anonymity-protected Internet broadcast of the 2015 International Convention Opening Flag Ceremony will be made available through,g.s.o.'s A.A. Website ( Access to the broadcast will begin on Saturday, July 4 and end on Sunday, July 5, 2015, at midnight Easter Daylight Time.. July, 1985, Lois W. (Wife of Bill W.) attended the 50 th International Convention held in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It was estimated that over 50,000 people from 53 nations. Were in attendance. 93 year old Lois W, spoke at the opening ceremonies. Far left in the picture below is Lois W. On the stage during the opening ceremony. Up to that time, Lois had attended every International Convention and was her last, passing away in 1988.
