2 Student of the Month, May 2014 Congratulation to Ima Delvoix, East Area s Student of the month for May. Ima immigrated from Haiti in December When she arrived, she did not know a word of English. After 10 months in the U.S., she gained confidence in speaking in her new language and applied for a job at McDonald s. She now works part-time after school and works hard. She knows that opportunities are endless in the United States, so Ima dreams BIG! She wants to be a nurse so she can buy her own car, her own house, get her daughter from Haiti and provide a good life for her. Ima knows that she needs a college education to accomplish her goal. Ima s immediate goal is to score at least 236 on the CASAS test so she can advance out of the ESOL program and work towards getting her GED. She is very smart and always strives to get an excellent grade in all her class work. She is a fast learner, usually the first one to understand the daily lessons. Her English pronunciation is great and she is able to engage in conversations with English speakers fluently. During class discussions, she asks thought-provoking questions and excels in class. She is hard-working and has an outstanding personality. Her leadership skills are amazing. Her classmates respect her and look up to her as a leader. She is an outstanding student and a good role model for others. Way to go, Ima! East Area Adult School appreciates the partnership we have with Annett Bus Lines to transport students to and from the career schools and Polk State College for our field trips. Thanks for another great year of trips to help students prepare for the next step in their educational process! East Area Adult School appreciates the partnership we have with CareerSource POLK to provide Internet access through the use of the mobile career lab to our classes without Internet access in various locations around East Polk County. This provides the students the opportunity to use the Florida CHOICES website. This helps them learn more about themselves and encourages them to think about careers that might interest them. Thanks for helping us help our students explore career possibilities for their future.
