3 School Layout Eagle Ridge Elementary & Community Centre Project 3 buildings under one roof Community Centre and Larger Gymnasiums (for each school) funded by RMWB Both Schools Core School + Modular Classrooms = Capacity for 600 Students each Architects took into consideration design suggestions from the school team

4 Site Design Features 4 traffic entries/exits to enhance traffic flow along Sparrowhawk Baseball diamond and soccer pitches for community use More parking Secure connectivity between buildings 2 schools could run a combined sports tournament without having to leave the facility

6 School Design Features Open concept with gathering area in centre - More welcoming feel to parents and the public Canteen located adjacent to gathering area and gym Student washrooms centrally located for all students Sensory & Breakout Rooms Wireless accessibility throughout the school Out-of-School Care Program Healthy & Active School Interior colour scheme (red/yellow/black/white) based on the colours of the Aboriginal Medicine Wheel

11 Boundaries Board must assign Boundaries for each school as per Alberta School Act Defines priorities for registration Distance & Eligibility for Student Transportation Services Changes to Attendance Area St. Kateri: Eagle Ridge, Prospect Point, Stonecreek and Paquette Heights St. Anne: New Parsons Creek Area (until new school opens in 2017) St. Martha: 1 km walking distance to school (No change) SMP: Bear Ridge/Cartier Heights/Cartier Mobile/Timber Heights (No Change) Board School Choice Policy: Parents may register their child to schools outside attendance boundaries if resources are available Student Transportation is only provided to designated school

12 Construction Update Eagle Ridge Public & Catholic Schools & Community Centre One project managed by Alberta Infrastructure and built by the same contractor Construction started with Public School Site (had to start at one end) Project is currently behind schedule Late start due to site not being ready in time to start construction Initial completion date project was March 2014 St. Kateri is expected to be fully completed in November 2014 St. Kateri Opening Still opening for School Year Opening will be phased-in during the Fall 2014 Will be using Community Centre and 12 Modular Classrooms in September 2014

14 Transition Plan St. Anne School is the hub school All registrations done through St. Anne School Students and Staff will be assigned to St. Anne or St. Kateri Classes Moving to St. Kateri Classes and Staff will move to St. Kateri by Grades/Divisions when space is available Anticipating that ECS and Division 1 will start at St. Kateri in September 2014 Remaining Divisions will move early in 2015 (or earlier) Easy Transition for students Moving with classmates and same teachers Same Principal and many of the same staff will be at St. Kateri

15 Student Transportation Services Bus Services to Designated Schools when St. Kateri is fully open Student Transportation Fees Eligibility is based on distance to designated school 2.4 km is the eligible walking distance as per Alberta Education Transition Period Service will be provided to both schools Bus Fees will be adjusted on a monthly basis during transition period No Transportation Fees for students within 1 km of St. Kateri School if registered to St. Kateri

16 Student Transportation Services Examples Grade 4 - Resides in St. Kateri Area Distance to St. Anne: 2.5 km / to St. Kateri: 1.3 km Grade 4 opens in St. Kateri in December 2014 Monthly Transportation Fees: $16.50 to November / $44.00 for December-June No transportation to St. Anne after November Grade 6 - Resides in St. Kateri Area Distance to St. Anne: 2.5 km / to St. Kateri: 0.8 km Grade 6 opens in St. Kateri in January 2015 No Fees No bus service provided from January to June

17 Registration Procedures Registration Process is administered through St. Anne School Office Current St. Anne Students Intention Forms will be distributed to parents in March/April 2014 Parents will be asked of their intention for next school year Current students register at their school office New Students On-line registration process (through Web Site) In-Person at St. Anne School CURRENT STUDENTS RETURNING TO ST. ANNE / ST. KATERI DO NOT REGISTER ON-LINE
