Data gathered for : (Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters) A & P I Number of Students Aggregate Score Lab Practical % Reproductive Endocrine Lab Final % Circulatory Excretory Respiratory A & P II Lab Practical % Nervous Integumentary Lab Final % Skeletal Muscular Digestive Body System Analysis of data: Number of Students % of students answering correctly Reproductive % Endocrine % Circulatory % Excretory % Respiratory % Nervous % Special Sensory % Integumentary % Skeletal % Muscular % Digestive % The science committee questions the lack of reporting for summer quarter. Most systems increased in score from the previous year. The two most difficult systems (endocrine and nervous) received scores of below 75%. The low score for integumentary system is due to combining with special senses because of holidays For the previous reporting period, the aggregate scores for those students taking the Lab Practical and the Lab Final met or exceeded the minimum passing score of 75%. In reviewing the percentage of students answering test items about body systems correctly, some areas were IP0809Science/11
12 discovered to have fewer than 75% of the students answering the items correctly. Those areas falling below goal included the excretory and nervous systems. Program change planned for as a result of this analysis: We will continue to use the lab practical format even though the practical is difficult for the students because of lack of preparation in high schools The students need this type of testing because of their on-site training in other programs. This Criterion will be changed to read as follows in our Plan: No Changes are planned, however we have seen a difference lab performance and test scores because of a lack of a lab manual (Please refer to criterion from ). Students who have taken the online Human Organism (Bios 112) class have indicated they DO NOT feel prepared for Bios 113 (lecture and lab). IP0809Science/12
