All departments of the station were discussed detailing what each division and their duties consist of including: traffic, news, promotions, production, business, engineering, and master control. A green screen was provided so the students could see how green screens work with different backgrounds dropped in. Q&A's were taken at the end of class. Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Las Vegas - Scholarship Essay Contest. Dates: 3/5/5-4/6/5. David judged and scored 5 essays to help qualify Las Vegas High School students for scholarship provided by Ronald McDonald House of Charities. The Ronald McDonald House of Charities of Las Vegas is awarding nearly $3 million dollars to the State to assist students to further their education by attending college. ational Association of Broadcasters Educational Foundation (ABEF) Tour of Station and Lecture by Mark Aitken and Q&A. A group of approx. 37 including students/adults toured the station. They saw the control room, operations area, Master Control in the behind the scenes area, and explain the skill set needed for this Industry. They spent about 5 minutes on these areas before proceeding to the Studio B where ews Director Mark eerman spoke to them about the State of the ews Industry. From there they went to learn about promotions with Willie Garrett. The tour concluded with everyone getting a ews 3 gift. Career information was provided along with instructions on how to apply for openings at our company. KSV Station Tour for orthwest technical Career Academy Group. Children were accompanied by their parents on their daily work duties. The sons and daughters were interested in what their parents did (the Broadcasting Industry), and they had the opportunity to ask questions and find out what is needed to follow in their parents footsteps. Some of the areas of where their parents worked i.e.: Business, ews, and Engineering. A station tour was provided and the children had the opportunity to watch a live ews airing along with being on TV (the noon ews). Sheila Giorgetti, HR, and Mike Gantenbein, Creative Services Director from Medford attended a local job fair - SOU Career and Internship Fair. Students were presented with various career opportunities in communications, journalism, marketing and business. job opportunities included stations in the states of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, California, and evada. RECRUITMET IITIATIVES 3 Date 4/3/5 Type of Recruitment Initiative (Menu Selection) Participation in events or programs sponsored by educational institutions Brief Description Of Activity David Clevidence participated in the Senior Mock Job Interviews at the SECTA (Southeast Career Technical Academy) on Thursday, April 3, 5. Mock interviews of senior students were held from 8:am to :pm. Interviews lasted 5 minutes each with 5 minutes for David to give verbal feedback and complete evaluation forms. These mock interviews gave students the opportunity to receive written and verbal feedback from industry professionals on their interviewing abilities and areas of needed improvement. The school wants Managers from different businesses to interview students for actual positions in the Manger's field. SECTA hopes that this experience will better prepare students for future interviews. Any student interested in the Broadcasting Industry was given additional information regarding our company and information on how to apply.
