Suryadatta College of Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism, Pune ( SCHMTT) is a part of the Suryadatta Group of Institutes which was established in Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, a senior management professional, Chartered Engineer and Educationist is the Chairman and Founder President of Suryadatta Education Foundation. With more than 27 years of valuable experience, both in the Industry and the Academics, Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya established the Suryadatta Education Foundation to develop self motivated successful leaders in the fields of Management, Information Technology, Media & Mass Communication, Corporate Communication, Consultancy, Value Education, Training and Research. Since its inception, Suryadatta Education Foundation has contributed to the present day vibrant global economy by giving the Industry multi faceted professionals. SCHMTT was established in 2004.It is affiliated to the University of Pune approved by D.T.E and recognized by Government of Maharashtra. It is also a study center of the YCMOU (Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University Suryadatta Group of Institutes has been recognized as Best Integrated campus for Higher Education in Pune by Brands Academy Delhi in 2012 The award was given by Dr. Shashi Tharoor, Minister of State for HRD. 1

2 Suryadatta College of Hospitality Management, Travel and Tourism, Pune offers the B. Sc Hospitality Studies ( Hotel Management ) Program of the university of Pune. Being the recognized study center of YCMOU ( Yashwantra o Chavan Open University ) it also offers Bachelors and Masters Programs in hospitality Studies, Travel and Tourism for distance learning. The aim of SCHMTT is to train and groom the students to become successful hospitality professionals. Infrastructure SCHMTT has State-of-the-Art infrastructure to facilitate the learning process and technical skills which are an integral part of the hospitality industry. Modern Training kitchens and the training restaurant are equipped with the latest equipment, Classrooms are installed with LCD projectors and audio visual aids to make learning an experience. The campus has wi-fi connectivity. Computer and internet labs are connected to servers running on a variety of platforms to suit every requirement supporting the entire network. The library is well stocked with text books, reference books, national and international journals. For out of station students there are separate boys and girls hostels. Indoor and outdoor sports facilities are available for the sports enthusiasts. Faculty: Principal Prof. Ms. Vandana Malhotra started her career with the Taj Group of Hotels, Mumbai. She has with her 25 years of experience in the Hospitality Industry & Education. The curriculum at SCHMTT is delivered by Faculty who has an average years rich industry experience both at an international and local level. The faculty therefore is able to groom and train the students as per the standards required by the Industry. The curriculum is thus enhanced by courses in Personality Development, Communication Skills, life and Interview Skills to prepare the students for their future careers. Industry -Institute interface: The College maintains excellent relations with the Industry. These sessions are of great benefit to the students as they become aware of the latest trends in the Hospitality sector. Interacting with the Industry experts increases their self confidence and they subsequently do well in interviews. Internships: In addition to the regular academic curriculum our students gain experience in the Hospitality Industry through Internships in Star rated Hotels in India and abroad The internship is scheduled from December to May as per the curriculum of the University of Pune. Last year seven of our students had gone for their internship to and this year our students are in Singapore for their training. They were training in high end hotels like the Ritz Carlton (the luxury brand of Marriott), Hotel Marriott, Singapore, and Hotel Royal Queen etc; 2

3 Going abroad exposes the students to guests from different countries, the different cultures and the hospitality trends followed internationally. Placement: Many hotels and organizations visit the campus to conduct interviews A student who has completed the Hospitality (Hotel ) Management Program has many career options - Placement in International 5 star hotels, Cruise lines, Air lines, travel trade, International restaurant Chains, Retail and Banking Sector, Entertainment hubs, Facility Management Services, Industrial Catering and entertainment hubs. He/ she also has an option of starting his own business or can also pursue further studies if he wishes to do so. SCHMTT has a 100 % placement record since inception and our students hold good positions in hotels India as well as overseas. Our alumni are working with star hotel properties of the Meridien, Oakwood, Taj, Sofitel, Marriott and Westin to name a few. The batch of 2013 has been placed in international hotel brands Marriott and Westin in India and many of the students are going overseas for jobs and further studies. 3
