(CSE) Curriculum The main objective of the program is to develop manpower for high-end jobs in Computer science engineering in the industry. This will be achieved by an approach involving rigorous and comprehensive academic course work covering theory, fundamentals and hands-on experience with real-world applications. The principal objective of this program is to provide training relevant to the software technologies required by information and communications technology professionals to design, program, manage, maintain, and enhance computer systems, particularly knowledge-based systems. The duration of the course is a maximum of two years (fulltime). The two-year post graduate programme in Computer Science is intended to train the students in both advanced areas in the core courses and specialized topics in the emerging technology fronts. Courses offered include advanced topics in Algorithms, Programming Languages and Implementation, Operating Systems, High performance Computing and Networking. Role of the CSE curriculum in the National development The M.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering is very well recognized by companies worldwide. This degree is an entry ticket to companies that operate in the areas of computer science, telecommunications, and electronics. It is an excellent booster to start an international career. Companies propose final-year thesis that allow them to measure the level of competence acquired by the students during the Masters in Computer Science & Engineering program. As IT has become the backbone of all most all major sectors of the national economy and the so called computerization of the nation is widespread, the CS curriculum plays an important part in the development of graduates who can offer world class services and take the nation forward. Also due to the present outsourcing boom in the country, the application of computers has increased exponentially and amounting for employment to a large portion of the population. Many engineering teams are a diverse group of members from across the globe. With M.Tech degree in Computer Science, students can seek jobs which exclusively require an advanced degree. An M.Tech degree also means a higher salary, better career escalation and other associated job-related perks. Some of the courses that students may take: data mining, statistics, information integration, information retrieval, machine learning, distributed databases, and massive data analytics and visualization

There are excellent career prospects within computer systems hardware, computer networking, software development or Internet technology and many computer science post graduate branch out into different vocations such as bioscience, medicine or journalism. The range of companies a computer expert works for is almost limitless; software developers, banks, car manufacturers, newspapers, universities. Research Activities India has already emerged as a world-class knowledge hub. Together with being a leader is global IT outsourcing, India is slowly emerging as a leader in R&D outsourcing also. However, a number of factors have prevented many world-class companies from establishing their R&D units in India, with the main one being the lack of PhD and Masters level candidates in the job market. It is projected that there would be a huge demand for people with advanced degrees in computer science in the niche areas of R&D and product development. The Computer Science and Engineering Department is a recognized research center. There are currently 30 PhD scholars pursuing their PhD in the department. The current research areas are: High Performance Computing, Task Scheduling in Heterogeneous Systems and Cloud Computing etc. The M.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering prepares the student towards a career in the IT industry as well as career in academics and research.
