Today we will be discussing the newest features in MicroMD as well as some features you may not have been aware of. 3
Batch Basket Users can now utilize a new holding area for printing reports. This allows users to print or fax all the reports for that day at once. A report could be named the date, for example, and all users for that day can save their reports to that batch basket and the manager could print all the reports at once at the end of the day including each users day sheet. Batch Basket is available through the EMR. 4
Extended CPT Codes in Pending Charges Users can now view and select extended CPT Codes in MicroMD PM when imported from the EMR If a code that could have a sixth digit is posted, MicroMD will display a pink bar indicator beside the five digit code. Simply click on the pink bar and a box will open to allow you to choose the code needed. 5
Automatic Eligibility Check Practices can now set MicroMD PM to automatically verify insurance eligibility of patients days before their scheduled appointments. Utilizing the ECM set up, a practice can decide how many days before an appointment an eligibility check can be done. All Plans that you wish to use Auto Eligibility on should have the same form type chosen on the plan detail window. 6
Here s a Tip If you make changes in Setup Practice Preferences General Preferences to reflect new or different Required Fields the system will not go back and fill these fields in on old patients and if you go into an old patient and change, for example, a phone number and click on save the system will require you to fill in the newly required field. 7
Provider Order A practice can choose which provider they wish to see, and in what order, when: Posting from the pending charges window, Viewing their appointment windows Utilizing check in check in/check-out. 8
Report Saving MicroMD allows the user to save reports with the options that they like by choosing their options then clicking on the save icon. The next time they run the report they can simply click the load button on the options window, change the dates and hit accept. 9
EB Summary Report Drill Down Users can Drill Down on the EB Summary Report if they have a warning or invalid and fix the issue right from the summary report. 10
Claim Status Reset If a user needs to put all the claims in Claim Processing EB back to Print, rather than clicking on each individual claim and selecting print in the status drop down they can simply click on Select All on the left task pane and then click Claim Status Rests 11
Resend a Claim File If a practice needs to resend a claim file they do not have to put all the claims back to print, do the summary report and batch again. If you have not re-batched over the file you can simply click the send button again to resend your already crested file. 12
NDC Codes On several drug codes it is now a 5010 requirement that the NDC code, Unit Count and Unit of Measure are on the claim. If a code requires this documentation it should be attached to the procedure under Maintenance Procedure. If you have received a rejection because this NDC information is missing, you not only need to add it to the procedure in the maintenance table, but also to the claim that has rejected. 13
Here s another Tip Another common code rejection you may see is that the code description is missing. This is commonly seen with non specific CPT codes. This is fixed by adding line level documentation The documentation must be in the following format: *SV=name* where name = description of procedure *SV=drug name route dosage* = injection 14
Secondary Claim Out of Balance If a primary payer pays off one line in the claim completely you must add the CO 45 of $0.00 in the Claim Adjustment Information screen for the secondary to be in balance. 15
Front Desk Shortcuts Users can utilize the right click features to access Patient Detail and print charge slips from either Appointment Views or Check-In/Check-Out. 16
Front Desk Shortcuts If you scan ID s or capture patient pictures, you use check-in/check-out to insure that the person checking in is in fact your patient. Click on the icon to the left of the patient name and the ID or picture should appear. This is also a great tool to alert front desk staff that they do not have an ID scanned and prompt them to obtain one. 17
