BSides Ottawa Welcome Thank you for your interest in sponsoring #BSidesOttawa. Following the success of our previous conferences, Information Security BSides Ottawa is returning for another great year at a larger venue with even more speakers, participants and attendees. In keeping with the philosophy of all BSides events, BSides Ottawa is a grassroots, free event providing an open platform for security experts and industry professionals to share ideas, insights and to develop longstanding relationships with others in the community. Most importantly for our sponsors, BSides Ottawa provides a rare opportunity to directly connect and create trusted relationships with key members of the Ottawa security community from academic, municipal, federal, and private sectors. The first BSides Ottawa in 2010 was attended by between 125-150 decision makers and influencers over a two day period and was sponsored by 15 vendors whose generosity was overwhelming. The second BSides event in 2014 was an even greater success with 250 attendees over 2 days and 12 sponsors! We are looking for at least that many in 2015. Keeping this event free cannot be done without your continuous support. The following package contains sponsorship information for BSides Ottawa 2015. We have put together different levels of sponsorship and their benefits with the greatest benefit being that of giving back to the community and enabling others to grow and learn. We value your participation, and look forward to working with your organization in making BSides Ottawa 2015 into another true community success! Sincerely, BSides Ottawa Team Page 3
Event Information BSides Ottawa 2015 Where It All Started Security BSides Security BSides is the first grass roots, DIY, open security conference in the world. It is a great combination of two event styles: structured anchor events and grass-roots geocentric events. Security BSides provided the community-driven framework for building events for and by information security community members. The goal is to expand the spectrum of conversation beyond the traditional confines of space and time. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. BSides events explore the fringe of conversation and focus on the Next Big Thing. The conversation can range from hardware hacking to gender issues, from twitter hacking to proximity-based identity theft; from compliance related challenges to Cyber security laws, from cloud security to the evolution of security architecture and how it ties to daily business lives we all live. It gives the voice to the conversation that is happening just below the surface and sponsoring enables you to be part of that conversation. The following are several details about the events: Timeline: o 2009: Launched in United States o 2010: Launched in Canada (Ottawa) and Europe o 2014: Events hosted in US, Canada, Austria, UK, Germany, Poland, Belgium, Brazil, South Africa, Algeria, Malaysia, India, China, Japan, Australia o 2015: Vancouver, Toronto, Quebec City, Winnipeg Halifax, St. Johns, and Cape Breton in Canada have all held BSides events.
