Children s Services Central is a consortium that is the Professional Support Co-ordinator (PSC) in NSW. We are funded under the Inclusion and Professional Support Programme to provide subsidised professional development and support to specific education and care service types FDC, OSHC, OCC and BBF services. Long day care services and preschools can access Children s Services Central professional development on a full fee for service basis. The Inclusion and Professional Support Program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. Long day care services receive LDCPDP funding. This means the fee for professional development for long day care services provided by Children s Services Central is not subsidised and is higher. (Funding rules but still great value!) You can use LDCPDP funds to pay for all Children s Services Central courses anything in this handbook in fact! Children s Services Central does much more than delivering professional development courses. Go to the back page to find out out more! Evaluations and certificates? These are all linked. 6 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT HANDBOOK CHILDREN S SERVICES CENTRAL PRICING OF COURSES PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR LONG DAY CARE SERVICES Long day care services can enrol into any Children s Services Central training courses, but under the terms of the Inclusion and Professional Support Programme (IPSP) funding program under which Children s Services Central is funded, this must be at cost price not the subsided price. This is because long day care services have received funding to pay for professional development under the Long Day Care Professional Development Programme (LDCPDP). The cost price for all courses is $33 per hour (for example, a three-hour course will cost $99). WHAT ARE THE FEES? PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR BUDGET BASED FUNDED SERVICES Budget Based Funded services can enrol into any Children s Services Central training courses and under the terms of the IPSP funding agreement participants from these services are entitled to attend for free. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR PRESCHOOLS Preschools may also enrol in any Children s Services Central professional development courses but, under the terms of the IPSP funding agreement, this must be at cost price, not the subsidised price. The cost price is $33 per hour for example, a three-hour course will be $99. If funding is made available from the NSW Government for subsidies to any Children s Services Central courses preschools will be separately advised. WHICH LEVEL? All centre-based services must have at least one educator on site who holds an approved first aid qualification and has undertaken approved anaphylaxis and emergency asthma management training. Each family day care educator must hold all three qualifications. Participants who attend a course and successfully complete the assessment task will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for this unit. The training offered by Children s Services Central includes an overview of Keep Them Safe, requirements for mandatory reporters in NSW, identifying significant harm and risk factors and the provision of child safe environments.
