7 Ageing, Dementia and Disability Care CatholicCare s Ageing, Dementia and Disability Care focuses primarily on the delivery of services to frail older people including those living with dementia, a disability and their carers. Our services are tailored to meet individual needs, support client choice, provide access to community resources and independent living. CatholicCare s Ageing, Dementia and Disability Care s ideals are to provide continuity in care, prioritised access and service flexibility through a client centred strengths based model of care. Each client receives a holistic assessment, culturally sensitive information to assist with making an informed decision about the type and nature of care best suited to their needs. An individual care plan is developed with each client with input from family, carers, advocates and other relevant service providers. 12 Access Programs Australia LTD Employee Assistance Program (EAP) The ACCESS EAP provides confidential, short term counselling to employees who have either work-related or personal problems. ACCESS Programs has grown considerably in recent years and currently, through its contracted customers, offers EAP and related services to almost 100,000 employees in a wide range of industry sectors, including Business, Government, Education, Health and Church related organisations. What are the benefits to the employer? An employee s problem can cause loss of productivity through anxiety, stress, substance abuse and workplace conflict. An employee s problem becomes the employer s problem. EAP reduces stress in the workplace and stress claims. EAP has a positive impact on staff morale, reduces absenteeism, sick leave, and increases productivity. How many employees use the EAP? Per annum about 3% of employees usually avail themselves of the service. Employees rarely need more than three sessions. If the problem presented is not suitable for an EAP, we refer the employee to longer term counselling or rehabilitation. How does the client know if the EAP works? Clients receive Utilisation Reports providing the organisation with useful information about workplace problems, extent of loss of productivity and how the EAP has helped. 12 About CatholicCare
13 Who are the counsellors? The counsellors are registered psychologists or social workers, experienced in workplace problems. ACCESS Programs has its own counselling team as well as using CentaCare counsellors and sub-contractors. How do employees find out about it? ACCESS provides brochures for distribution to employees and conducts employee briefings. ACCESS has a national free call for employees to ring in confidence. CatholicCare employees who access the counselling service are allocated to counsellors external to CatholicCare. The EAP is completely confidential. Other ACCESS services Critical Incident Debriefings. Workplace Mediation. Training and Workshops. Post Trauma Stress Counselling. Management Consulting. Emergency 24 hour Counselling. 14 How can you make a difference? Support CatholicCare by making a donation CatholicCare needs your support to continue to make a difference. With your support we can continue to develop and provide quality services to all members of the community. Donations of $2.00 and over are tax deductible. Payroll Deduction Program CatholicCare has created a Payroll Giving Deduction Program as a simple way for employees to make a donation before tax to CatholicCare s work. This form of giving is beneficial to both a donor and CatholicCare, as it allows the donor to have the tax benefit up front and it enables CatholicCare to have a regular income to make a real difference in delivering quality services to those in need. Gifts in kind Individuals and businesses can support CatholicCare by donating a gift in kind to support any of CatholicCare s programs or fundraising events. Contact us for upcoming sponsorship opportunities. Have you thought of becoming a volunteer? We have opportunities for people to volunteer and participate in a range of programs and activities. Those with qualifications, skills and experiences are encouraged to apply, however particular skills are not essential. Note: Child Protection Legislation requires chosen applicants to be subject to employment screening. Community business partnerships CatholicCare s work in the community offers businesses opportunities to make a real difference to individuals, families and communities in need. CatholicCare is always looking to develop mutually beneficial partnerships that will support businesses to actively pursue their corporate social responsibility. To make the most out of contributions, a variety of options are available to tailor any partnership. Levels of involvement can range from sponsoring programs or other forms of financial support, through to assisting CatholicCare to find carers and volunteers. 14 About CatholicCare
15 CatholicCare Foundation Have you thought of leaving a gift in your Will? A gift in your Will to the CatholicCare Foundation means your money is invested with integrity. Your contribution will enhance the ongoing quality of life for children and families in our community. By including CatholicCare in your Will you will be continuing the Catholic tradition of compassion and concern for social justice and helping us build stronger communities. You will also be sharing our vision of a more caring and cohesive Australian community. The CatholicCare Foundation has been established to provide financial assistance to support CatholicCare s welfare work. Founded in 1941, CatholicCare is the official welfare agency of the Catholic Church in the Archdiocese of Sydney.
