Scholarship Info For LPHS Students Local Scholarships Friends of Big Sky Education is starting a scholarship association that will award multiple scholarships to graduating LPHS seniors, beginning with the Class of 2015. Stay tuned for fundraising details and scholarships available. We will post information on the FOBSE website as it becomes available: www.friendsofbigskyeducation.org Gallatin Canyon Women s Club awards annual scholarships to LPHS students who will attend an accredited post- secondary institution. Scholarships are typically $1,000-2,000. www.gcwomensclub.org. Scholarship may be awarded directly to the student when a paid tuition receipt is presented. Montana Scholarships Youth Serve Montana: The Governor s Office of Community Service and Montana Campus Compact will award a $1000 scholarship to up to 100 students. Applicant must submit a completed application and proof of acceptance to one of Montana's Campus Compact member institutions, must have completed 100 hours of volunteer service within a 12 month period. Materials are available on the ServeMontana website: http://serve.mt.gov/youth- servemontana/ Applications must be verified by a high school guidance counselor, principal, or superintendent. (Since LPHS students must complete extensive community service, this scholarship is a real opportunity.) Governor's Best and Brightest Scholarships and Montana University System (MUS) Honor Scholarship For the Governor's Scholarships or the MUS Honor Scholarship, register and apply on- line at www.scholarship.mt.gov. MUS Honor Scholarship recipients will be selected based upon GPA and ACT or SAT scores. A student must have a minimum GPA of 3.40. The program is divided into 3 areas: merit scholarships, at- large scholarships and need- based scholarships. Go to www.scholarship.mt.gov. Montana State University Freshman and Premier Scholarships. NO deadline posted. Apply early! To be eligible for all university scholarships, students must apply for admission AND submit official ACT and/or SAT scores ASAP. The application for the Montana Premier Scholarship is at www.montana.edu/admissions/premierscholarship. Montana Presidential Scholarships: Amount: Includes a full tuition waiver as well as a generous stipend renewal for four years. Eligibility: Must apply for admission to MSU as entering freshman, have a cum. GPA of 3.75 or higher and a composite score of 30 on the ACT or 2000 on the SAT. Go to www.montana.edu/honors New Student Scholarships at MSU Billings - The Scholarship pplication and the Admission application should be submitted jointly. Scholarships are awarded on an ongoing basis with the initial review of applications beginning in October. Priority will be given to those who apply prior to February 1.

MSU- Billings Chancellor's Excellence Award Application - The Chancellor's Excellence Awards are Montana State University Billings' most prestigious scholarship awards, recognizing academic achievement as well as leadership qualities. Chancellor's Excellence Awards will be awarded each year to freshmen entering Montana State University Billings in September. Recipients receive $3000 per academic year. Scholars who meet or exceed all of the renewal criteria may expect to have their awards renewed for four years for a maximum award of $12,000. Deadline is January 15 th. Montana Resident Entering Student Scholarship Program - The Montana Resident Entering Student Scholarship Program draws together many endowed scholarships and donations into a single scholarship pool. New freshman and new transfer students are eligible. The application for admission to The University of Montana will also be the student's application for a UM. Presidential Leadership Scholarships - The Presidential Leadership Scholarships are University of Montana's premier academic scholarships, recognizing outstanding talent, academic performance, leadership, and contribution to the community. These awards are renewable for four years, subject to satisfactory performance by the student. Each scholarship includes a full or partial tuition waiver, the value of which varies according to the amount of tuition each year. Approximately 24 awards will be made in each annual competition. Their approximate value each year, including the tuition waiver, will be: o Gold level: $7,500 stipend plus a tuition waiver valued at approximately $4,400 o Silver level: $5,000 stipend plus a tuition waiver valued at approximately $4,400 Eligibility: All applicants for admission to the Davidson Honors College will be considered for the Presidential Leadership Scholarship. Eligible candidates for the Presidential Leadership Scholarship must be recent high school graduates who have not previously enrolled as a regular college or university student. Finalists in the autumn 2012 class of Presidential Leadership Scholars posted an average of 3.97 GPA, SAT combined score of 2070, or ACT composite score of 32. To be eligible for a Presidential Leadership Scholarship, the DHC application deadline is December 31. The Watkins Scholarship - The Watkins Scholarship Program generally awards $2,000 to ten seniors per year, and is open to all UM- Missoula students. All applicants must anticipate attaining senior status (at least 90 credits) by autumn semester of the scholarship award period; have earned a cumulative GPA of 3.4 or higher at the time of application; plan on working on a senior research project or creative activity that will be directed by a faculty member in the College of Arts and Sciences. The annual application deadline is April 15 for scholarships to be awarded in the next academic year. Specific information can be found by downloading the application below. All students who complete a research project funded by a Watkins Scholarship are required to submit an electronic copy of their thesis or final research paper to the Davidson Honors College, using the following template as a formatting guide. Horatio Alger Association Montana Scholarship - $10,000. This is a national scholarship. In Montana, students must pursue a bachelor's degree at the University of Montana or Montana University system schools. Eligibility criteria include: graduate of Montana high school, financial need, involvement in co- curricular and community activities, a minimum GPA of 2.0, and a US Citizen. To apply go to: www.horatioalger.org/scholarships. Montana scholarship recipients must purse a bachelor s degree at either the University of Montana or Montana State system schools. The University of Montana and its affiliates include: University of Montana at Missoula, Missoula College, Helena College, Montana Tech at Butte, The University of Montana Western at Dillon.

Montana Minds National Science Foundation Scholarship - Amount: up to $6500 per year for four years. Montana Minds Scholarships will be awarded to 20 students who demonstrate high academic achievement and financial need and who will be majoring in one of the following disciplines at Montana Tech: biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, software engineering or statistics. Applicants must complete FAFSA and may apply for the scholarship online at www.mtech.edu/about/montana- minds. Deadline is February 1. Carroll College Scholarships Go to www.carroll.edu/finaid/prostudents PETER NELSON SCHOLARSHIP at HELENA COLLEGE - Scholarship(s) in the amount of $600 each will be awarded to high school seniors to encourage them to continue their education at Helena College. The scholarship will be used to assist with the cost of attending the Helena College in one of the following programs: Automotive Technology Metals Technology, Aviation Maintenance Technology Welding Technology, Construction Technology Fire and Rescue, Diesel Technology Interior Space Planning & Design, Machine Tool Technology. Montana PTA Scholarships (child- related field of study) www.montanapta.org. Each year Montana PTA awards a limited number of tuition scholarships. We offer financial assistance to Montana residents who are high school seniors or college students that need additional help in obtaining a bachelor s degree toward the goal of becoming an elementary or secondary school teacher in the Montana public school system. The scholarship may be used at any Montana college or university that trains teachers. The scholarship is a non- renewable $500.00 merit award; however, winners may re- apply the next year. Montana School Nutrition Association (MSNA) - For high school graduates interested in pursuing a career in food service, culinary arts, food science, nutrition education, nutrition or dietetics. Students must have a grade point average of at least a 2.0, submit an essay explaining how the scholarship would benefit them, and include a letter of recommendation from a teacher. March 31st - Nursing Scholarship www.advancedhomecaremt.org (must have 3.0 or higher and attend Montana School). The Advanced HomeCare Institute offers these scholarships to support Montana students who have an interest in Nursing, both LPN and RN. and who have plans to study, live, and work here in Montana. Black Mountain Software (Big Sky School District has BM Software) - Black Mountain Software offers one $500 scholarship to Montana students. All graduating Montana high school seniors who will be attending an accredited institution of higher education, regardless of their field of study, are eligible. All completed scholarships must be mailed to: Black Mountain Software, ATTN: Scholarship Application Committee, 145 Southlake Crest, Suite 1, Polson, MT 59860. The scholarship is sent to the institution. (Might not be worth the effort, if the $500 is deducted from other state school potential funding.) Montana Jaycee Foundation - Must be a graduating high school senior, who will be enrolling in first year of full- time study at an accredited post- secondary college, university, or vocational school. Awards are based on involvement, leadership, honors and awards, employment, personal statement, financial statement, scholastic achievement and references. Applications for our $1000 Annual Scholarship for Montana Seniors are now being accepted. Students chosen as state winners will have their applications forwarded to the National JC Foundation where they have the opportunity to win an additional $1000 scholarship. www.mtjcisenate.org/pages/forms/mtscholarshipapp. MONTANA ASSOCIATION OF CONSERVATION DISTRICTS - 2 $500 Scholarships to Montana students high school seniors or students who have completed at least two semesters at an accredited post- secondary institution may apply. Eligibility requirements include: US citizenship, Montana residency, minimum grade point average of 3.0, and enrollment or plans to enroll in a course of study that allows students to explore natural resource issues. Appropriate courses of study include agriculture, agribusiness, animal science, range science, forestry, environmental science, land resource science, plant science, etc. Students may receive a scholarship both as a high school senior and once during post- secondary career. Provide two $1500 scholarships to college freshman pursuing degrees in fish and wildlife management or other conservation related majors at Montana State University, the University of Montana, or Montana Tech. (This scholarship is available only to those LPHS students who live in Madison Country.) Montana Community Foundation Scholarships - www.mtcf.org/applications. Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) - The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) offers an annual college scholarship program to help further higher education among rural youth. FRS awards a one- time $2,500 scholarships to students from rural America for their first year of college, university or vocational- technical school. Each student is sponsored by an NTCA member company.
