Why the New Generation? Mobility: TV, Radio & Internet used on new equipment (mobile phone, portable multimedia player, ) Self programming: Personal Video/Audio Recorder, MP3 player, Video on demand Radio, TV & Internet reception on the same devices: computer, mobile phone, PDA,.. Need to take into account the new broadcast system, new equipments, and the new usage linked to digital technologies

Which measurement system? Different audience measurement system will be needed : A «Fixed» measurement system Individual measurement in the household A «Portable» measurement system Individual measurement in mobility (out-of-home) A «Return Path» measurement system Data information sent back for some connected device (mobile phone, portable multimedia player,..) using the return path of those equipments

Fixed system perimeter DTT ADSL Streaming Equipement Vector MPEG2 HDD DVD recorder PVR «Fixed» system : NG DTT receiver idtv IPTV STB PC (tuner + streaming) HD TV HD HD_MPEG 4 STB

The «Premier» solution What is «NG Premier»?: The «Premier» solution is a preliminary version for the fixed system of NG (based on Watermarking) which will allow to measure new equipments which are not feasible at the time being. Why a «NG Premier»?: regarding the important growth of specific equipment (idtv, mixed STB IPTV/DTT) it is necessary to provide a first version which will allow to solve those issues. The NG premier goal is to deploy a first version with a shorter scheduling.

NG Premier NG Evolution Vector DTT ADSL FREE offer PAY offer Basic offer only All operators All Vectors Analog DTT Satellite, Cable IPTV (all offers) Streaming Equipment DTT receiver (all models) TV with DTT receiver (idtv) ADSL STB (combos included) DVD recorder All equipment Indicator Measurement accuracy : 15s Same indicators as today except «recording action» and no more «Others TV» (new Total TV definition) No timeshifted audience Measurement accuracy : 15s Time-shift audience measured Broadcast Vector measurement, content identification, etc.

The new indicators «NG Evolution» will allow to provide new indicators for audience measurement such as: Timeshift Audience : new parameters will be provided for TV consumption. Those indicators will become: Live Audience : idem as today Timeshift audience : audience for yesterday timeshifted programs Seven days Timeshift : audience for yesterday timseshifted programs cumulated on 7 days

The new indicators Broadcast vector measurement : The Watermarking technology system can also provide audience information regarding the vector used (DTT, IPTV, satellite, etc.). Measurement Accuracy: The actual measurement accuracy is one second. With the new system, this accuracy will become 15s, the needed delay for a precise channel identification.

Thanks!
