Online studies with Great Southern Institute of Technology Online studies is a convenient and flexible way of completing an accredited course without having to attend classes. You can work through activities and assessments at home from your own computer. To study online you will need to have access to a computer and the internet, and you may be required to purchase a text book for some units. Once you have enrolled, you will receive an introductory email containing information on how to begin your online studies. You will have access to our online learning site, where you will be able to view all assessments and communicate with your lecturer. Enrolment in online studies is on a part-time basis of one or two units at a time. You work at your own pace which gives you the flexibility to work as fast as you wish. Online enrolments are on a continual basis which means when a unit of study is completed, enrolment in the next unit can occur. Each enrolment is current for six months from that enrolment date, but we do encourage you to complete it as soon as you can and move onto the next unit this way you can achieve your qualification sooner. It is important to remember you are not alone with online studies! Your lecturer is available for advice, feedback on assessments and general help via the online learning site, email, phone and for personal one-on-one appointments. Recognition of Prior Learning Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is the formal acknowledgement of your current skills and knowledge obtained through previous life experiences, education and training or work experience (paid and unpaid). It does not depend on how, when, where or why the skills and knowledge have been obtained. RPL assessment can result in credit for a unit within a course, or entry to a course. It is based on evidence provided by the applicant. You can enrol for RPL at any time, but preferably before the course or unit starts. This means that you do not have to be enrolled in the unit before applying for RPL.
