Samsung Xchange Mobile is an application for Android mobile devices that extends the power of your Samsung telephone system to your mobile device. Your installation engineer will have configured your telephone system and server, however you will need to install and configure the application on your mobile device, using the information the engineer has provided on page 2. Xchange Mobile can be downloaded from the Play Store or Samsung Apps. The easiest way to find it is to search for Samsung XChange Mobile. Installation from here on is simple just click the install button when given the opportunity. The app will then automatically install to your mobile device. You will find the app on your homescreen.
Client Configuration Android After running XChange Mobile for the first time, press your device s menu button to reveal the app s main menu and then go into the Settings option, as seen below; In the Settings menu, tap on Server Configuration. Here you will need to enter various details, as provided by your engineer on page 2 of this guide. In turn, tap on Server Address, Username, Deskphone extension, Mobile extension, and Password, and enter the relevant information from page 2 of this guide, before pressing OK. Once complete, press the back button on your device.
From the Settings menu, tap on Dial Through Configuration, and then Dial Through Number. Here, you will need to enter the number labelled as Dial-Through Number as given on page 2 of this guide. From the Settings menu, tap on Pause Character, and ensure that this is set to a comma (,). Go back to the Settings menu, tap on Trunk Access, and ensure that this is set to 9. Finally, from the Settings menu, ensure that there is a tick next to the Reconnection option. This will ensure that the XChange connection is not dropped when the device enters power-saving mode. Press the devices back button to reload the client with the new settings you have entered.
Once XChange Mobile has reloaded, you should now be connected to the XChange server. This will be indicated by a green circle in the status bar of the mobile device: The apps main interface will be available from here, and the extension list will be downloaded automatically; this usually only takes a few seconds. From here, swiping to the left and right on the mobile device will show the directory, messaging facilities and call history.
Modes Android The XChange Mobile app features two different modes; Deskphone and Mobile. Deskphone mode is ideally suited to tablets, and it enables the user to control a paired deskphone. The app looks the same, and utilises the same interface and call/presence lists, but instead of making DISA calls through the mobile device, it enables the user to select which number / internal extension to call for dialling on the deskphone. Mobile mode is suited for GSM-enabled devices, such as mobiles, and allows the user to select extensions from the presence list, or numbers from the directory, to be dialled via the MOBEX-enabled GSM device. Mobile mode also allows numbers to be dialled from the mobiles standard keypad to dial through the telephone system, via MOBEX. Switching between modes is possible either from within the app itself, by clicking on the innermost of the two icons at the top right of the app or from the Settings Menu->Server Configuration Menu. Widget XChange Mobile comes with a Toggle Widget which allows the user to either force calls across the phone system or via the mobile devices GSM network. This widget is enabled in the normal manner, from the home screen of the mobile device. The widget will automatically appear as XChange Dial Through in the list of available widgets. When the On option is selected, all calls made from that handset will be made via the telephone system.
