5 1.1. Overview of the Apple iphone App The Opera Softphone App is the extension of the Opera 240 system to the Apple iphone giving you Fixed Mobile Convergence with Hold and Transfer of calls and presence information for colleagues. Enjoy all the benefits of the Opera 240 from your iphone. Single number for both fixed and mobile devices. Incoming calls to your fixed desk phone are automatically routed to your smart phone. Dial from your smartphone contacts list or the PBX phone book. All outgoing calls from your smart phone App use your fixed Calling Line Identity number on the Opera system. See the status of colleagues in real time. Busy on mobile device status is indicated to other users. Call history - missed calls, received calls, dialled calls. Manage your voic s. The PBX may be programmed to send all your app calls over IP or to the GSM network when you are off site and over Wifi on your LAN. Flip during a call from VoIP to GSM service or the other way, depending on signal quality For detailed user instructions on the system phone functionality of the app, please refer to the Operafone Executive system phone manual at For instructions on browser based function key programming, please refer to the browser based user programming and call handling guide at same address. 6 1.2. Installing the License on the Opera System The use of the iphone App requires a licence on the Opera 240 system. This licence must be purchased from your Opera system supplier and can be installed remotely by your supplier on the Opera system. Alternatively, you may receive the licence key from your supplier and install is manually. To install the licence key manually, connect to the browser programming interface of the Opera system by typing the IP address of the system as described in section 3.2 of the manual. On the main page, under System Settings, click on System Licences. DM 1069 Page 6

7 Paste the licence key into the first free position in the table on the System Licences page and press SAVE. The system must now be re-started in order to implement the licence changes. You can do this by going to the System Maintenance page and pressing the Restart System button. This will cause any calls in progress to be cleared and therefore should only be done when the system is not busy Allocating the Licenses to Users When the system has re-started fully, the next step is to allocate the new licences to individual users. Connect to the main configuration page as described above and click on the link IP Phone Licensing in the section User Settings. DM 1069 Page 7

8 On the IP Phone Licensing page, click on the link Softphones in the top right hand corner to display the following page: The number of Apple iphone Softphone licenses available is indicated at the top of the column. You can allocate an iphone softphone license to a user by ticking the box in this column opposite the username and pressing SAVE. If the user you seek is not on this page, you may display other users by clicking on the page links at the bottom right hand corner of this page Note the IP Registration Name and PIN The iphone softphone App can now be registered on the Opera 240 system using the user s IP Registration Name and Registration PIN which can be found on the page IP Phone Registration under User Settings. 9 1.5. Download the App to your iphone The next step is to download the app from the App store onto your iphone. To install the App on your iphone, open the App Store icon on the home page of the iphone and search the App store for OperaSoftfon. Tap the INSTALL button. You will need a valid itunes account. During the download you will be asked to input the password of your itunes account as shown below. The progress of the download is indicated with the App icon and the word Loading shown underneath: DM 1069 Page 9

10 1.6. Program the Registration details in the App Once the App is downloaded to your iphone, tap on the MDS icon as shown below. The first time you open the app, you will be asked to program your Registration Name, Registration PIN and the Server IP Address which is the local IP address of the Opera system on the LAN. Your IP Registration Name and IP Registration PIN are found in the Opera system page IP Phone Registration under User Settings. In order to use the App outside the local WLAN, you must program the public WAN IP address of the Opera system in the main iphone settings page. Tap on the Settings icon on the iphone home page as shown below. DM 1069 Page 10

11 Scroll down to the bottom of the settings page and tap on OperaSoftfon. iphone App Installation and Use Enter the WAN public IP address of the Opera System in the Alternate Server IP field. DM 1069 Page 11

12 Exit settings and tap on the OperaSoftfon icon to open the App which will now register with the Opera system. You can now make and receive calls on you softphone in exactly the same way as on your fixed Opera phone Port Forwarding of the Router at the Opera System site In order to use the App remotely over the 3G network, the router at the Opera system site must be configured to allow remote access to the Opera PBX system. The Opera system will open the ports of the router automatically using the UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) protocol. However, if the router does not support the UPnP protocol, the ports must be forwarded manually by logging into the router configuration page. UDP packets on WAN ports to 50479, must be forwarded to the local IP address for an Opera 240 system. For an Opera 20 system, the range is UDS ports to TCP WAN port 5075 must be forwarded to the local IP address of the Opera System. Browser WAN port 7000 must be forwarded browser port 80 at the local IP address of the Opera System. It may be necessary to lower the level of Firewall protection on the router to implement these changes. DM 1069 Page 12

13 1.8. Using the Softphone App The smartphone app brings all the features of the Opera Executive phone to your iphone and you can use it in the same way. However there are a few additional features of the smartphone such as: Dial from your smartphone Contacts list Using the GSM network with your Softphone Dialling from your Smartphone Contacts list Press and hold the green off-hook key on an Android smartphone. This allows you to select a contact from your smartphone list and to dial this contact directly. Using the GSM network with your softphone The Opera system may be programmed to send all your app calls over the GSM network when you are off site and over Wifi on your LAN. During a call you can flip from VoIP to GSM or vice versa, depending on signal quality. In order use this feature you need to program a key on your softphone as follows. There are two ways this can be done. Firstly, you can log into your user portal from a computer and program a key as described in the browser based user programming and call handling guide at DM 1069 Page 13

14 iphone App Installation and Use Alternatively, you can do this on the app by following the steps below. Press MORE. Scroll down to an unused key. Selected key will flash red. Press Menus. Select key 13 Scroll down to Phone Settings. Press Select. Scroll Down to Define Function Key. Press Select. Select Redefine Keys Scroll up to FMS (Flip to GSM). Select. When you are on a call you now will have the option to flip between VoIP and GSM by pressing the function key which you have defined here. DM 1069 Page 14
