Adult Faith Formation Sunday Night Movie Come, watch a newly released movie on Sunday, August 31 st (Labor Day weekend). Say goodbye to summer and come, see and discuss: GOD S NOT DEAD. The story line involves a college freshman, Josh, who finds his faith challenged on his first day of Philosophy class. The professor begins class by informing students they will need to disavow, in writing, the existence of God. While all the other students scribble the words God Is Dead on paper as instructed, Josh finds himself having to choose between his faith and his future. His professor gives a smug and irate reaction to Josh s nervous refusal. Josh must prove God s existence to the class by debating his professor. If he fails to do that, he will fail the class. What would you do? Join us at 6:30 pm Sunday evening, August 31 st, in St. Michael Hall. Bring a snack to share or bring your dinner! Drinks provided! This movie is rated PG. Recommended for teens and above. MOMNIPOTENT: A Study to help Moms Find Peace, Balance, and Joy! Is being a mother what you thought it would be? The exhaustion, mounting unfinished projects, and loss of sense of self can take a toll. Feeling overwhelmed, too many moms resign themselves to the idea that peace, happiness, and joy are to be found in spite of motherhood, not because of it. MOMNIPOTENT is here to change that! You are invited to journey with a group of women, to deepen your vocation of motherhood. We are excited to begin offering this eight-week DVD-based study with the help of a new book called MOMNIPOTENT: The Not-So Perfect Guide to Catholic Motherhood, written by Daniele Bean, publisher and editor-in-chief of the Catholic Digest. Discuss the real issues that moms face every day. Rediscover and reconnect with your unique gifts and to be the woman God created and called you to be. Learn how to become MOMNIPOTENT by using your gifts more fully in your home, family and your community. The 8 week journey begins Wednesday morning, October 1, from 10am until Noon. Child care is available, with advanced reservations. Registration is available online at olmc.org or call the parish office at 595-0385, ext. 119. Healing Ministry A growing population of Catholics in our community are homebound or living in nursing and personal care centers. Many of these individuals have been active, lifelong members of a parish, and they miss participating in the Mass. Our parish s Healing Ministers help to fill that gap. Through the sharing of the word of God and Holy Communion, the minister now carries the care of the parish family to the homebound and sick. We have many faithful ministers who visit our homebound and sick; still more help is needed. Is this ministry of care and presence calling you? Are you wondering how you can help? Consider joining one of the Healing Ministries and make a difference to those who are unable to join us for our Sunday Celebration.
