1 From the Pastor We have finally come to the month of celebration. This month Lyndale will be celebrating 50 wonderful years of serving our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We will be taking time to remember those who came before us, the sacrifices that were made to get us to this point, and the ministries that God has allowed us to partner in over the years. I look forward to meeting so many about whom I have heard stories. There will be several pastors returning to talk their times as shepherds of our congregation. There will be families of the charter members. And, there will be a time for all to share their memories and celebrate what God has done through the ministries of our church. After we celebrate the 50 th, we will be welcoming back Elton and Barbara Cook, who will be with us for our celebration. However, on the 21 st, they will be sharing with us how God has been using them on the mission field in Tanzania. I can t wait to hear what they have to say. We will be getting busy with our future in the following week as we will have our Vacation Bible School, June This is our opportunity to pour into our community and share the Good News with the children who come. I want to say thank you in advance to all those who have volunteered to help us out and to make this ministry possible. Sharing Jesus with our children is one of the most important things that we can do. These will be the stories that they will build their faith on and will remember for the rest of their lives. So, even as we are celebrating our past, we are looking to our future. May the Lord be pleased and honored by all that we do in the coming days. 2 LYNDALE S 50TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION INFORMATION SUNDAY JUNE 14, 2015 SOCIAL DURING SUNDAY SCHOOL/BIBLE STUDY HOUR 9:00 AM WORSHIP SERVICE 10:30 AM DINNER ON THE GROUNDS AFTER WORSHIP SATURDAY, JUNE 13, :00 AM SET-UP DAY FOR OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY Please add this date to your calendar. There will be lots to do preparing for Sunday! We will need a lot of help so please plan to come out! HOSPITALITY Our 50th anniversary celebration is fast approaching and we need to turn our attention to feeding those who will attend this important event. There are sign up sheets on the bulletin boards in the east and west wings of the church. Our church will be providing fried chicken so we are requesting that our congregation provide sides and desserts to go along with the meat. Please fill out the sheet completely with your name, the name of the side or dessert and quantities of each. Keep in mind that we need multiples of items as we will be feeding quite a few people that day. It is extremely important that you sign up so that we will know what we have and don't have as the date approaches. If you have any questions, please speak with Jo Ball. Remember to help out friends and neighbors who may benefit from this ministry. FREE COMMUNITY DINNER FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 2015, 4:00 PM 7:00 PM "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in." Matthew 25:35 PENNIES FROM HEAVEN SATURDAY, JUNE 13, 2015 Thank you to all those who have faithfully provided items for our homeless ministry. As the summer approaches and our resources are spread thin, we are running short in many items. We desperately need soap, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, lotion, and socks. We've received a special blessing of bottled water donations so we are good on that front. Please keep this ministry in your prayers. VIRGINIA BOYLES GROUP MISSION PROJECT MEDICINE BOTTLES FOR MALAWI (a small country in South East Africa) Please help us collect used medicine bottles to support healthcare efforts in Malawi. It will help families in a third world country keep their medicines clean, out of reach of small children and safe while they are being used. They prefer the traditional medicine bottles not the large vitamin or aspirin bottles. To donate your empty medicine bottles, here s what to do: 1) Peel the labels off your empty medicine bottle. If you have trouble peeling the labels off, try soaking the bottle in warm water until the label will peel off or simply Sharpie out your name and the drug name. 2) There will be a collection box in the sanctuary entryway. LYNDALE S GOAL 500 new pairs of shoes NEW SHOES FOR BACK TO SCHOOL MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 7, 2015 We are once again participating in the New Shoes for Back to School Ministry. We have set a goal for 500 shoes this year! WOW, so as you are out shopping please pick up a pair or two of shoes and bring them to church. The date of the event is September 7. We will also need volunteers to help with set up on September 6. The mandatory volunteer training will be Saturday, August 29 from 10-12pm. Please be on the look out for more volunteer information and sign up in the coming weeks.
