1 Dear Potential Applicant, We welcome you to apply for a position as a Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) Peer Minister. This position is unique in many ways. We try to provide an environment for you to learn leadership skills that will serve you throughout your life, while at the same time providing opportunities for personal faith and spiritual growth. Students have opportunities to work in a variety of areas hospitality, engagement, public relations, service, social justice issues and more! Specifically, we are looking for individuals with demonstrated and/or potential ability to organize, facilitate, and attract other students to CCM events and activities, including prayer experiences, small groups, retreats, socials, social justice/service opportunities, etc. Some of the characteristics we have found in the most successful Peer Ministers include any combination of the following: ability to inspire others, empathy, a welcoming and positive attitude, dependability, integrity, strong teamwork skills, and a personal commitment to the CCM mission. The best Peer Ministers have a strong, active faith life and are able and willing to draw others into their own journey. Our community also expects that you maintain a balance between self-care, your studies, and CCM. Peer Ministers are expected to work, on average, hours per week. However, your academic success is our primary concern, and we will work diligently and flexibly to ensure that it remains your top priority. In addition to being compensated at a rate of $9 per hour, the experiential and learning outcomes of this position are immeasurable if you choose to fully engage yourself. The application to become a CCM Peer Minister is a three step process: 1. Written application documents are due Wednesday, April 8, FOCUS Interview on Sunday, April 12. FOCUS (Friends of Catholic University Students) is comprised of local parishioners and serves like a board of directors for CCM. 3. One-on-One interview with the Campus Minister April You will make arrangements for this interview with Kevin Molm, CCM Campus Minister, during your FOCUS interview. 3 Christ the King Home of Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) CCM Team Peer Ministry Description CCM Vision Statement: Catholic Campus Ministry (CCM) at the campuses of the University of Montana-Missoula (UM) seeks primarily to empower the students to become Disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today. Second, CCM will provide a loving, supportive, and engaging faith community and spiritual home for UM students. Third, CCM works in close collaboration with the Christ the King Parish to model the Gospel Values for these students and to draw them into active participation in a parish faith community. In collaboration with their respective home parishes, CCM invites the Catholic UM faculty and staff to engage with students at CCM liturgies, activities, and events. CCM Guiding Principles: Belonging Believing Discipleship Christ the King Parish offers UM students opportunities to participate in a variety of different ministries. Peer Ministers (PM) or Interns provide service to our community through their connections to the UM community. The PM position is intended primarily to provide leadership opportunities for PM s to: o Draw UM students into the life and mission of the Church by building relationships and community with new and currently active students. o Engage students in their faith by planning and leading activities such as a small group, retreats, service and social justice experiences, prayer times, or hosting a social. o Invite and empower other students to lead and facilitate similar activities. o Support CCM through communications s, Facebook, website, Twitter, flyers, signage, etc. Expectations/Duties: Attend and Actively Participate in Meetings: (Times are set by consensus to fit everyone s schedule) o Weekly CCM Team Business Meetings (1 hr.) o Weekly one-on-one meeting with Campus Minister (.5 hr.) o Bi-weekly CCM Discipleship Development Meetings (1.5 hr.) Time Expectations: o hours a week. This includes attending team meetings and both planning and facilitating events, but does not include Fall/Winter retreats (which will be a greater time commitment). Miscellaneous: o Willingness to work non-traditional hours including nights and weekends o Timely completion of assigned tasks and other duties as assigned o Completion of the VIRTUS Safe Environment training within the first two months of employment, which includes completion of background check o Demonstrate a high level of maturity, dependability, flexibility, and an openness to different beliefs and perspectives o Represent CCM at events such as Son Light Celebration, CTK Mardi Gras, CYC Convention, etc. o Plan and facilitate at least one over-night retreat (e.g. SEARCH) each semester o Regularly serve as a greeter and Liturgical Minister at CTK weekend Masses Page 1 of 5

The goal is to make all students comfortable and feel included at Christ the King. UNite Planning and Facilitation Developing, scheduling and preparing a variety of activities for UNite, including coordinating food, topics of discussion, worship, Liturgy, prayer, etc. Administration - Assist in the general office tasks that are necessary for CCM to function successfully. Tasks would include assisting in the upkeep of a student database, sending weekly s, producing publications, website upkeep, organization and other marketing tasks. Retreats Coordinating with Pastor and Campus Minister to plan and provide retreat experiences during each semester for the personal spiritual growth and faith enrichment of students. Small Group Facilitation Coordinating and/or facilitating small group experiences for students. Past small groups included Scripture, book groups, special interest topics, etc Service & Social Justice Provide opportunities for students to become both learn about and participate in service and social justice issues. Possibilities include Poverello Center, Just Faith, The Jeanette Rankin Peace Center, Habitat for Humanity, Catholic Campaign for Human Development. Parish Connections Building bridges between CCM and our CTK permanent parish members and other Missoula Deanery communities in order to help students understand active, adult participation in a parish community. Such duties would include participating in parish events, activities, and/or committees/ministries. Outreach Engaging students (potential and active) to participate in CCM events. This would include social media communication, distributing marketing materials, coordination with and/or participation in parish and Diocesan programming (e.g. CYC Board/Convention), staffing tables at UM events (e.g.orientation), etc. PMs / Interns are hourly, paid positions ($9.00 per hour) that are classified as part-time, temporary positions. Timecards will be provided for you to track your work. Employment period: August 19, 2015 December 20, 2015 and January 10, 2016 May 10, 2016 Mid year evaluations will be conducted to evaluate past performance, set goals for future performance, and address any significant issues if needed. Students are expected to respect all the moral and religious teachings and beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church, in tune with the fullness of Vatican II and not to engage in any personal conduct which would negatively reflect on Christ the King and Catholic Campus Ministry. If conduct outside of CCM negatively affects the reputation of CCM or other students involved in CCM, it constitutes grounds for review, discipline and possible dismissal.
