How to use this Guide This Course Enrolment Guide 2013 provides you with information on when and where the units available for study in this program(s) will be offered in 2013. Enrolling in units for 2013 1. Read Section 2. Program Information for information on course structure and unit sequence. Take note of any prerequisite or co-requisite requirements before selecting particular units. A prerequisite is a requirement that must be met by a student before enrolment in a stipulated unit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the prerequisites for a unit prior to enrolling into that unit. A co-requisite is a requirement that must be met by having already passed or being concurrently enrolled in an associated unit in order to be able to enrol in the stipulated unit. If you wish to enrol into a unit for which you have not met the prerequisite or co-requisite requirements, please obtain approval from your Course Coordinator. 2. Refer to the unit listings in Section 3. Units Offered in 2013 to select your units. Take note of the study period in which units are offered. 3. You must refer to Administration & Enrolment on the ACU website (http://students.acu.edu.au/332297) for information on how to complete your enrolment via Student Connect. Administration & Enrolment also provides detailed information on managing your studies. 4. Log on to Student Connect and enrol (http://students.acu.edu.au/136953). Student Connect is a web interface allowing students to complete their ACU enrolment online. IMPORTANT NOTE Failure to enrol or re-enrol before the published due dates for re-enrolment on the ACU website (http://students.acu.edu.au/381148) may result in late fee penalties. Even if you are unsure of what units you need to enrol in, please ensure that you enrol or re-enrol in at least one unit before the due date. Enrolling in at least one unit by the due date will enable you to add further units, or amend your enrolment via Student Connect up until the final dates published in the Critical Dates for Variation of Enrolment on the ACU website (http://students.acu.edu.au/273880). Turnitin The Faculty of values students academic honesty and integrity. It employs a range of processes and technologies to support students to ensure their work aligns with University s Academic Honesty Policy and Framework for Academic Integrity. Turnitin, now available at ACU, is an online originality checker and is an educative tool for students. It allows students to preview their work and identify originality prior to handing in assessment items. Program Map Master of MASTER OF EDUCATION (http://students.acu.edu.au/427574) (80 credit points) Requirements for Completion of the Degree Master of 2.1 To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of: a. 30 cp from Core Units Sequence (i); b. 50 cp from other units. 2.2 To qualify for the Master of degree with a named specialisation, a student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of: a. 20 cp from Core Unit Sequences (ii) or (iii); study must relate to the specialisation selected under paragraph (c); b. at least 10 cp from Core Unit Sequence (i), excluding units already taken; c. at least 20 cp from Specialisation units; d. up to 30 cp from postgraduate Electives, which may include up to 20 cp from units offered by another Faculty. 2.3 A student who has completed the Postgraduate Certificate in may be granted advanced standing. 3. Exit Point A student who has completed the requirements prescribed for the Postgraduate Certificate in may exit with that award. POSTGRADUATE CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION (http://students.acu.edu.au/427611) (40 credit points) Requirements for Completion of the Postgraduate Certificate 2.1 To qualify for the Postgraduate Certificate, a student must complete 40 cp from across the range of units in the Schedule of Unit Offerings. 2.2 To qualify for the Postgraduate Certificate with a named specialisation, a student must complete 40 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings relating to a particular specialisation, consisting of: a. 20 cp from Core Unit Sequences (i) or (ii) (listed below); and b. 20 cp from one Specialisation; or c. 40 cp from one Specialisation.
