How to use this Guide This Course Enrolment Guide 2014 provides you with information on when and where the units available for study in this program(s) will be offered in Enrolling in units for Read Section 3. Program Information for information on course structure and unit sequence. Take note of any prerequisite or co-requisite requirements before selecting particular units. A prerequisite is a requirement that must be met by a student before enrolment in a stipulated unit. It is your responsibility to ensure that you meet the prerequisites for a unit prior to enrolling into that unit. A co-requisite is a requirement that must be met by having already passed or being concurrently enrolled in an associated unit in order to be able to enrol in the stipulated unit. If you wish to enrol into a unit for which you have not met the prerequisite or corequisite requirements, please obtain approval from your Course Coordinator. 2. Refer to the unit listings in Section 4. Units Offered in 2014 to select your units. Take note of the study period in which units are offered. 3. You must refer to Administration & Enrolment on the ACU website ( for information on how to complete your enrolment via Student Connect. Administration & Enrolment also provides detailed information on managing your studies. 4. Log on to Student Connect and enrol ( Student Connect is a web interface allowing students to complete their ACU enrolment online. IMPORTANT NOTE Failure to enrol or re-enrol before the published due dates for re-enrolment on the ACU website ( may result in late fee penalties. Even if you are unsure of what units you need to enrol in, please ensure that you enrol or re-enrol in at least one unit before the due date. Program Information Master of Business Information Systems Master of Business Information Systems (Advanced) Graduate Diploma in Business Information Systems Graduate Certificate in Business Information Systems This articulated suite of courses aims to provide a relevant and innovative program to address the need for both Information Technology (IT) and non-it professionals to increase their breadth and depth of knowledge in Business Information Systems. The MBIS offers a targeted degree that allows students to understand the impact of the application of information systems in a business environment. Students gain an understanding of the strategic significance of information systems (IS) in driving competitive strategies and organisational change. The MBIS examines the significance of both technological and organisational issues in the analysis, design, development and deployment of IS solutions for sustainable business. The course content is designed to provide a critical understanding of the range of issues facing managers in their decision making related to IS management. Students acquire knowledge and skills set to ensure that IS are aligned with business goals and objectives during times of rapid technological change and economic uncertainty. The course emphasises the development of management and ethical leadership skills to manage the complexities of contemporary organisational environments. 6 Notice for students who wish to exit from a course of study other than that for which they are enrolled (a) (b) if you intend to continue with your current course, you are not permitted to exit with a lower level award, however you may request a letter from your Course Coordinator confirming that you have satisfied the requirements for the relevant lower award; if you do in fact exit with a lower level award and subsequently wish to resume your studies in the higher level course, you will be required to reapply for admission to that course in order to resume your studies. In such cases students will be notified and given the opportunity to register in an alternative unit. Pre-requisite units are shown in italics and parentheses.
