Security Warnings - Only calls/text messages which are communicated with GOLD LOCK are secure, normal calls/text messages on the device are not secure. - Do not allow access to the secure phone device by other people. - Do not allow installation of non-trusted software on the secure phone. - For maximum security - it is recommended to switch off infra red and Bluetooth connections on the secure phone Installation If Gold Lock is already installed on your device, uninstall it before installing a new version. Method A: In case you have received the APK file to your email open that email from the GMAIL application on the Android device. Next to the APK attachment in the email, you will see an Install option. Select Install and proceed with the installation wizard. Method B: 1. Download the installation file (.apk) to your PC. 2. Copy the APK file to the root directory of your memory card. 3. Download & install an application called App Installer from the Android Market. 4. In the Apps Installer application, you will see a list of the APK files stored in the root directory of your memory card. 5. Select Gold Lock APK and you are done. You can now access the application from the Android application menu. 3
Configuration - In the Settings screen, the following parameters are available: Server: you can set the server address which manages VOIP traffic (default - Gold Lock Secure Server). Backup Server: you can set the address for a backup server (high availability). Auto-start Gold Lock- If set to Yes, Gold Lock automatically loads when the phone is turned on. Auto Connect- If set to Yes, Gold Lock automatically connects on startup. Keep Text History: If checked, your secure calls history will be kept on the device, to enable reviewing of past messages (default is Off). Ringtone - Enables to switch between the default ring tone, and any other ring tone you select. - Disable P2p - Enables to disable P2P voice so even when network conditions permit, all encrypted voice should still pass through the secure relay server (default Off). - When Gold Lock is first activated, you will need to input the following details: - Login details - the email and password of your Gold Lock account (if you do not yet have those, please sign up at www.gold-lock.com) - Select a name for your secure device. This will be used by you and your secure contacts to identify your device. 4
Usage 1. Add Secure Contact Select Menu, then Add Contact Insert the device name of your secure contact and confirm. 2. Secure Voice call At least one secure contact needs to be in your contact list. To initiate a secure voice call, highlight a secure contact, then press the "Call" green button. 3. Secure Text To send a secure text message, highlight a secure contact, then press the Text button. 4. Secure File Transfer To send a file securely, highlight a secure contact, then press the Send File button. 5. Secure SMS Messages To send a secure SMS, select Menu, then SMS Manager. The SMS manager enables you do the following: Create a new message (insert phone number or select from your phone s contact list). View your Inbox for incoming secure SMS messages. View your Sent box for outgoing secure SMS messages. Change the encryption key used in SMS encryption. Note The same key has to be inserted on all of your participating devices so that messages can be properly decrypted. 6. Manage Secure Contacts Sign in to your account at www.gold-lock.com to manage everything related to your device and secure contacts. 5
