All Wide Hollow Families, This year has been flying by!! In just a few weeks we will be having our family-teacher conferences October 27-31, 2014! A strong family and school partnership is one of the major reasons Wide Hollow is an award winning, highly distinguished school. We have a track record and an expectation of nearly 100% attendance at family-teacher conferences and we look forward to meeting with families again October 27-31, 2014! WIDE HOLLOW IS USING ONLINE CONFERENCE SCHEDULING AGAIN THIS YEAR. I am so happy to tell you that Wide Hollow is now using Skyward, our online school system, to schedule family-teacher conferences!! You will find attached to this letter a guide with step by step instructions along with screen shots to walk you through this convenient process. You will be able to see each teacher s schedule for the week and select the available time that works best for you. This is so much easier than the paper system we used to use. Just be sure you have your login and password for Family Access. Parents will be able to start scheduling your conferences on Monday, October 13th. The Online Conference Scheduling system will open at 8 am Monday, October 13th first come, first serve! Skyward works on smart phones and full-computers. In order to make this process easy, you will need to have Skyward login information ahead of time. If you do not know your Skyward login and password you have two ways to get this information: E-Mail The first choice and quickest option (also preferred option) is to e-mail either Mary McDonald or Tracy Cox at WV Central Office and they will e-mail your information to you. Mary McDonald mcdonaldm@wvsd208.org Traci Cox coxt@wvsd208.org Call The second option is to call WV Central Office and they can help you over the phone. 509.972.5909 So, make sure and schedule your conference using Skyward s Online Conference Scheduling. Email or call the above contacts or feel free to call Wide Hollow if you have any questions. If you don t have access to the internet please contact Wide Hollow and we will connect you with the teacher to schedule your conference. We look forward to another 100% attendance at Wide Hollow Conferences again this fall! Jacob C. Hall, Principal Wide Hollow Elementary School Yakima, Washington 98908 *Online scheduling is only available to parents on Family Access between.. Monday, October 13th - Friday, October 24th.

Date: Tuesday, October 28th Time: 1:00-2:30 Place: Wide Hollow Gym Jump For Heart is Coming! (Grades 3 & 4) Why is partnering with the American Heart Association so important? Heart disease is the nation s No. 1 killer. Stroke is the fourth-leading cause of death. Childhood obesity has reached epidemic proportions. Almost a third of U.S. children are overweight or obese. 61 percent of children ages 9 13 aren t physically active outside of school. Almost 1/3 of U.S. children and adolescents between ages 2 and 19 are overweight or obese. What is Jump for Heart? It is a fun jump rope event that will be held during conference week. If you decide to join in the fun, you will be eating lunch at school. At 12:10 p.m., participating students will go outside for recess and come back inside at 12:40 p.m. Make sure to take everything (as if you were going home), when you leave the classroom at 12:10 p.m. At 12:40 p.m., participating students will not be able to re-enter the building through their classroom. Instead, please enter the building through the doors by the music room. All students will place their belongings in the music room, sign in before entering the gym, and sit down at their station in the gym. Jumping will begin at 1:00 p.m. This is not a spectator event. Jump for Heart is an activity for participating 3rd 4th grade students only. Why do we do Jump for Heart? To exercise and have fun. To help fight heart disease and strokes.
