5 National 4-H Congress: An Opportunity of a Lifetime! 10th, 11th and 12th Grade 4-H Members, National 4-H Congress is held annually over Thanksgiving weekend in Atlanta, Georgia. Over 1,300 4-H members from all 50 states attend Congress. At Congress, delegates hear inspirational speakers, participate in cultural workshops, participate in a large-scale community service project, and other fun activities. The Oregon 4-H program views National 4-H Congress as an extremely amazing opportunity for 4-H members and is committed to providing this experience to as many 4-H members who can benefit from it as possible. Because the trips to Congress are dependent upon donations, a selection process is held each year. The State 4-H Recognition Committee selects Congress delegates based on the member's overall achievement in 4-H projects, leadership, communication, citizenship, community service and readiness to benefit from Congress. Financial requirements are minimal for National 4-H Congress delegates as trips are generously sponsored by donors. Typically, a $200 payment is required by congress participants. Even going through the application process is beneficial and attending National 4-H Congress would surely be one of your best 4-H and High School memories For more information on how to apply, please visit: oregon.4h.oregonstate.edu/national-4h-congress. I can also assist you with navigating the application process and review your application. Applications are due to the OSU Lake County Extension Office by February 20th. 4-H Leaders: Anna Fledderjohann (2014 attendee ) would like to come to your club and provide a presentation about National 4-H Congress. She would like to showcase her experience at National 4-H Conference and encourage others to apply for this amazing opportunity. To make arrangements please contact her via at clouddreameranna@yahoo.com Sincerely, Jamie Davis The 2014 Oregon 4-H Congress delegation in Atlanta Georgia. A classy group at the gala! Page 5
