SHRIMP & GRITS COOK-OFF Formal Judging 2:00-3:00PM People s Choice Judging 3:00- :00PM Awards to be announced from the Main Stage at 6:00PM Winner of the Formal Judging contest will have their recipe published in Lowcountry Weekly. Winner of the People s Choice contest will be first inaugural winner of the SHRIMPY Award. People s Choice award will be given to the recipe that raises the most votes in their dollar bucket. $0 entry fee per Chef. Formal Judging Ballots will be purchased for $1 each. Generators will be used for power, you must provide your own extension cord and notify us of your power needs. You may bring up to 2 team members to help you. Additional opportunities are available to be a vendor, please see the food vendor application. Please see formal rules and application for more details, failure to follow the rules will result is disqualification from the event.
Rules for Entry & Participation FEES & REGISTRATION Entry Fee is $0 and must be returned with application by March 2, 2014. All payments must be made by check or money order. Bridges Preparatory School, attn: Amy Painton, PO Box 120, Beaufort, SC 29901. Contestants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Competition will be limited to the first 8 contestants. If there are no spaces available when your application is received, your application and check will be returned to you. Must provide a printed list of ingredients on 8 1/2 x 11 paper to be displayed during judging. Do not include your name or your business name on the piece of paper. Must provide a copy of DHEC or food service license for Beaufort County with registration fee in order to compete. JUDGING There will be two rounds of judging. First, the Formal Judging will be sold in the form of a $1 ballot, 0 guests will have first access to the Shrimp & Grits tent for a sampling of each recipe. The winner of the Formal Judging will have their recipe published in Lowcountry Weekly following the event. The second form of judging will be People s Choice. Following the Formal Judging the Shrimp & Grits tent will open to all attendees. They will have the opportunity to purchase your Shrimp & Grits dish for a set price of $3 a bowl, as well as judge with their dollars. Tickets will be used as currency and split 0/0 to benefit Bridges Prep. The more dollars you raise in your bucket the closer you are to winning the first inaugural SHRIMPY AWARD. COOKING AREA All contestants will be provided (2) 8 ft tables for cooking space. A generator will be provided for power, however you are required to bring your own extension cords. You may bring up to 2 team members to assist in your preparation and serving. Running water will be shared and may be a few yards away from your cooking station. Please plan accordingly, hoses cannot be run to your booths. YOU MUST WEAR GLOVES when handling food.

Unpeeled and not de-veined for Formal Judging session One Chafing Dish 0 small cups for serving samples during the Formal Judging session plastic forks/ spoons for Formal Judging session 2 tables with linens Above will be provided for the Formal Judging, contestants are required to supply their own shrimp, grits, and serving dishes for the People s Choice section. All other items - cooking utensils, coolers, seasonings, pots/ pans, hot plates, measuring utensils, serving utensils, display platters/ dishes, etc.- must be provided by the contestants. YOU MUST BRING GLOVES. Artisan Vendor Registration APRIL General Rules, Fees & Information: BRIDGES BLOCK PARTY, Saturday, April, 2014 in Habersham Marketplace. Registration and fee must be completed and returned by March 2, 2014 to Bridges Preparatory School, attn: Amy Painton, PO Box 120, Beaufort, SC 29901. Artisan vendors will be hand selected and on an invite only to present at the Bridges Block Party. Vendors will sell, home, kitchen or natural goods. All vendors must have a Beaufort County business license to present at this event. A 10 x 10 white tent will be provided and included in your cost. Providing your own tent is not an option. You may bring tables, chairs, displays, etc. so long as they fit in your given area. All displays must be removed without damage to the tent at the end of the event.
